Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition (Switch eShop)
$9.99 (-50%)
Even so many years after its 2005 debut, Devil May Cry 3 remains one of the very best action games ever made. It may have aged in places, but that turbo-charged, combo-heavy action feels as fresh today as it did back in the mid-noughties. The new Freestyle mode – which lets players swap combat styles on the fly at any point during the action – is a genuinely excellent addition to the package, and the ability to play Bloody Palace in local co-op is the cherry on top of a Switch port that should appeal to anyone interested in sampling the devilish delights of this all-time classic.

Dicefolk (Switch eShop)
$8.99 (-40%)
An attractive art style, strong combat system, and meaningful player choices make Dicefolk a brilliant addition to the library, as it manages to feel fresh without getting too far away from the core ideas that make these sorts of games so addictive and popular.
Dicefolk is a good entry point to the genre, in fact; approachable without being patronising and it’s tons of fun once you get a grasp of its various quirks.
Downwell (Switch eShop)
$2.00 (-33%)
This is an excellent port of a game that feels like it’s found a natural home on Switch thanks to a plethora of control options and the console’s natural facility with vertical orientation. Short of popping your 4K TV on its side, Switch offers the very best way to play Downwell.
Its roguelike structure and twitch platforming might not be for everyone, but you should really give it a chance. For our money, Downwell is a modern classic that should be in everyone’s collection; for the pocket change asking price, it's a steal.
Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch)
$9.59 (-84%)
Dragon Ball FighterZ on the Switch is, simply put, one of the best fighting games we've seen on the system. Arc System Works went the extra mile in capturing the essence of the source material and distilled it into an incredible brawler that has lost nothing in the transition to Nintendo's hybrid console. The stunning visuals, intense action, and easy-to-master controls make FighterZ a game all fans of the genre should have in their library. If you only play this kind of game casually, it remains a must-own.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition (Switch)
$34.99 (-30%)
Originally released for 3DS (and PS4) in Japan, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition is one of the best games Square has ever put its name to, plain and simple — and this Switch release was a fine port, too.
Featuring a heartwarming, well-paced narrative supported by a cast of fantastic characters, a dense and interesting overworld packed with dozens of hours of content, and one of the finest soundtracks we’ve heard in a JRPG, it all combines to make this an unforgettable modern classic. Whether you’re a newcomer to the series (or genre) or a returning vet, do yourself a favour and get yourself a copy of Dragon Quest XI pronto.
Dusk (Switch eShop)
$9.99 (-50%)
Dusk is one hell of an impressive piece of software and possibly the single best Unity port to Switch we've ever seen, sidestepping typical performance problems and delivering a brilliant experience of a brilliant game. It's not as good a game as Quake, but almost nothing is. There's a relatively limited arsenal of weapons — they're all great, but there's no iconic gun here, just your usual pistol, shotty, assault rifle, explosives, et al. We're being churlish with our criticisms here, though — ultimately, Dusk is another absolute cracker in Switch's FPS roster.
Enter the Gungeon (Switch eShop)
$4.49 (-70%)
Enter The Gungeon is a brilliantly tactile, endlessly replayable twin-stick roguelike that sits right up there with the very best indie games on Nintendo Switch. With satisfying combat, random levels, and an endless supply of inventive weapons, items and secrets, it's always a total joy to play.
Yet another modern indie classic found a natural home on Nintendo's console.
Everhood (Switch eShop)
$7.49 (-50%)
Everhood is one of the most memorable games we’ve played in recent years. A mad mix of RPG, rhythm action, kart racing and bullet-hell shmup, its utterly bonkers plot and weird cast of characters is reason enough to check it out, but the instantly accessible rhythmic combat will keep you hooked from the very first battle to the epic final boss encounter. Some may be put off by the minimal visual design and deliberately vague sequence of events, but for those after something a bit different, Everhood delivers originality and unique gameplay in spades and absolutely deserves a place in your Switch library.
Fear the Spotlight (Switch eShop)
$15.99 (-20%)
Fear the Spotlight is an excellent narrative horror experience loaded with atmosphere and dread throughout, with immersive, tactile puzzles and an overarching storyline that is engaging and tragic in equal measure.
Encounters with the main enemy won't prove particularly challenging, but they're always nerve-wracking thanks to its creepy design and accompanying spooky audio. Rare, minor performance hiccups aside, this is a must-play for horror fans and an approachable entry point for newcomers.
Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster (Switch)
$19.99 (-60%)
Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster is a package of two fantastic games; the 2001 original and its 2003 direct sequel. FFX is probably not the most straightforward introduction for new players, but it presents one of the most engaging worlds in any of games in the series and its Conditional Time-Based battle system (which here replaced the standard Active Time Battles of previous entries) spiced things up nicely. With upgraded visuals and audio and all the content from the 'International' version of the game, Switch is a great place to play X. If you've got the requisite dozens of hours to spare, of course.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Switch)
$41.99 (-30%)
As soon as Switch launched it seemed like the perfect console for Fire Emblem. Portability and strategy games are a marriage made in heaven, but being able to throw the battle on the big screen in HD gives Three Houses a scope that wasn't possible on the diminutive 3DS.
Three Houses added new strings to the series' bow, with the Garegg Mach Monastery providing a Hogwarts-style academy to explore as you build those ever-important relationships with the Black Eagles, Blue Lions, and Golden Deer. It's clearer than ever before that the key to the franchise is its ability to evoke feelings for your units through canny writing and charismatic characters; Three Houses created the perfect environment to foster and develop the students in your chosen house.
Indeed, the huge number of options open to you, not to mention the alternatives closed off with each choice you make, makes Three Houses a daunting prospect, but it excels in forging a vital and worthwhile experience whichever house you pick or route you take. And, thankfully, you don't need to buy another game to go back and travel the road not taken. Take that, Fates!
And if that's still not enough for you, there's always DLC. Did somebody say four houses?
Flipping Death (Switch)
$1.99 (-90%)
Flipping Death does share plenty of DNA with Stick it to the Man! — ranging from the floatiness of its platforming to the ability to read the minds of other characters — but that doesn’t stop it from being a far superior offering in almost every way. We’re still not quite sure why Death is possessing the souls of the living and sorting out the loose ends of the dead, but it makes for a memorable, black-humoured adventure that deserves to haunt your Nintendo Switch immediately.
Forager (Switch eShop)
$6.99 (-65%)
Every now and then, a game comes along that captures our hearts and reminds us why we love the medium in the first place. Forager features wonderfully designed crafting mechanics, addictive progression systems and more charm than you can possibly handle. Although it has very minor drawbacks, there's enough good stuff present here for us to confidently recommend adding Forager to your collection.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (Switch eShop)
$14.99 (-50%)
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was one of the best games on Nintendo DS. Now it is one of the best games on Nintendo Switch. If you're a fan of Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, AI: The Somnium Files, or just of having a good dang time with a brilliant story and stunning art, then why are you still here? Go and get the game. Now. Go!!!!
Huntdown (Switch eShop)
$3.99 (-80%)
Huntdown is a delightfully detailed and expertly crafted throwback to old-school run 'n' gun arcade shooters.
The 16-bit graphical style is immaculately recreated whilst adding lots of modern bells and whistles to proceedings, including a fantastic soundtrack and audio design, optional CRT filter, and an arsenal of heavy-duty weapons that chew scenery and enemies to pieces as your bounty hunter makes their way from boss fight to excellent boss fight.
The flow of levels may be quite repetitive but the moment-to-moment gameplay, overall sense of fun that comes from the level of carnage you can dish out, surprising amount of hammy spoken dialogue, and constant pop-culture references all combine to make this one an easy recommendation, and another excellent addition to the Switch's action catalogue.
Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition (Switch eShop)
$4.99 (-75%)
Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition puts Heart Machine’s obtuse yet engaging throwback where it belongs — in portable Nintendo form — and it makes for the definitive version.
With a handful of exclusive features, the game suddenly feels new and fresh - and with a silky smooth frame rate and every boss, secret and upgrade from the original here for you to experience, this is a wonderful addition to the Nintendo Switch’s bulging indie library.
In Other Waters (Switch eShop)
$3.74 (-75%)
A very pleasant surprise indeed, In Other Waters is a bit of a minimalist masterpiece that you'll often want to dip into for a more contemplative experience than the majority of the Switch's library. It has found a perfect home on the handheld, the form factor of which massively works in the favour of the game's mood and atmosphere to create an exceptional and unique experience. What you're getting here is a story that you're an integral part of, and it's one of the coolest, cleverest games we've played in a long time. An absolutely first-class effort.
Invisible, Inc. Nintendo Switch Edition (Switch eShop)
$4.99 (-75%)
Invisible, Inc. is a brilliant little tactics game, right up there with Into the Breach and XCOM – if not even better. The bite-sized structure belies a deceptively complex and meaningful game, where all your decisions ultimately mean something significant for that final desperate attack.
If you enjoy stealth or tactics games – or you're simply looking for a way into either genre – then Invisible, Inc. deserves your attention.
Jack Move (Switch eShop)
$9.99 (-50%)
It may not last terribly long, but Jack Move manages to pack in all the important elements needed for an excellent cyberpunk JRPG adventure. The inventive battle system, enchanting world, and appealing graphics all come together to make for a perfectly paced, gripping, and memorable release that no RPG fan will want to miss out on, and that goes double for time-poor genre aficionados.
It’s not often that you see a JRPG that leans so hard into science fiction tropes, and Jack Move makes the most of every minute of its runtime. Highly recommended.
Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story (Switch eShop)
$19.49 (-35%)
Like Atari 50 and The Making of Karateka before it, Digital Eclipse's latest interactive documentary is a wonderful glimpse into the mind of one of gaming's most fascinating figures. Even if you've got no prior knowledge of Minter or his games, the selection of videos, image galleries, quotes, and playable games included here will provide you with a newfound respect for this niche yet immensely important segment of gaming history. Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story is another triumph for Digital Eclipse, and we can't wait to see what the studio tackles next with its Gold Master Series.

If there were ever a swinging deal on this list it's the Messenger, don't look it up if you can help it, it's so good blind.
Chico and the Magic Orchards is also on sale and you gave it a 9/10 in your review here as well
https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/switch-eshop/chico-and-the-magic-orchards-dx
(full disclosure, I am the developer of the game hehe)
Must... finish... BACKLOG...
Fight... Urge to... Buy...
Fitness Circuit is on sale for $20 so I grabbed it.
It’s a great workout game that was recommended to me by some people here. 👍
Isn’t Sonic X Shadow Generations another 9 rated game that’s included in this sale?
The Samurai Shodown reboot may have "only" gotten an 8 on here, but I couldn't help but notice that it's currently on sale for 85% off >..<
I'd been wanting to try it for years, but the entry price and DLC costs always scared me away. Thanks to the sale, I was able to buy the complete game with every bit of DLC for less than $20 USD. And I had no idea that one of the added characters was Baiken, from Guilty Gear??
Been playing it here and there for the last few nights, and am having the time of my life so far! Totally worth it at that price if you're a fan of old-school fighters - like me ^_^
Already done the math on this one. If I only bought the games on my wishlist that I consider extremely cheap, it'd still cost me more than $300 and probably take a couple years to get through, and that's assuming no more deals pop up in the next week. I'm thinking of narrowing it down to Hyper Light Drifter, Portal Collection, Voice of Cards Trilogy, and a handful of other indies, and that'll still run me around $70.
@N00BiSH Don't worry, your backlog will follow you to the next generation. You'll have plenty of time for it to keep growing larger and more intimidating.
@Anachronism ...no thank you. I actually want to dedicate next year to finishing some games I haven't gotten around to
@N00BiSH Best of luck. That's pretty much all I've done for years, and my backlog is a mess of half-finished collections, "finished" games with unfinished postgames/DLC/NG+, and roguelikes or freebies that I never really intend to finish, on top of the couple dozen games I haven't even started yet.
@JimNorman Useful article. With 133 games, a list of all links, kind of like the additional list on the last page, would be helpful.
@cosmograph What did you hear about the game? I love home workouts and ring fit in particular I’ve been keeping up with for 4 years. I’m curious about this one now.
@AG_Awesome Yes! Totally, I love ring fit and home workouts too!
Fitness Circuit has been very addictive for the folks I’ve chatted with here. The movements are a lot different from those in ring fit and definitely cardio and core based in my experience with less of the strength building exercises in ring fit.
There is a demo for the game that gives you a good idea of what it’s about.
Truthfully for me, ring fit will always be the pinnacle but I enjoy games like this and the fitness boxing series that offer something a little bit different.
@AG_Awesome Just to keep your expectations in check, it’s not approaching anything as polished, cohesive, or gamified as ring fit. Master trainer Peter on youtube has a great breakdown on it.
When’s the European deals being published/displayed?
Was really hoping to see Pikmin 1 & 2 added to the cyber deal. ☹️
@notreallyhere I did nearly the same thing, and I have been playing it really enjoying it. Great fighter, pretty easy pick up and play
Portal 1 and 2 for $5 is pretty darn good. Although I beat the original Portal probably 500 times speed running on Xbox 360 and Portal 2 was the last game I ever pre ordered...i didn't really need to play them again, but its been long enough the dialogue lines are hilarious again. Plus im a sucker for the mouse-like precision gyro in handheld adds.
Hello...? Are you still there...?

@Linnybhoy It already has, here it is: https://www.nintendolife.com/guides/62-switch-games-you-should-pick-up-in-nintendos-black-friday-sale-europe!
Dangerous article...
The Messenger for $4 is wild. That's one of the best games I've played in years.
@cosmograph Thank you so much for the detailed response! I will have to think about it but it sounds like a pretty decent exercise game. I like to mix up my DDP Yoga with ring fit, so adding this into the routine may still be a nice change of pace.
I didn't see it mentioned (or I missed it), but Dragon Quest 11 S is on sale again. Finally getting my hands on this game. Can't wait to play it. ^^
Forget Nintendo's official deals, got TOTK from Walmart for $30 and am still debating on Bowser's Fury for $35, Kirby and the Forgotten Land for $35, or Pikmin 4 for $35 from Target.
You don't include "The" when listing things alphabetically.
these lists are just great! THANK YOU! 😊
Maybe it's finally time to give Shovel Knight a second try. I got really mad the first time I tried it on Wii U, when I realized that knocking out what I found out later where checkpoints was forcing me to the beginning every time I died. I knew back then that I'd probably like it if I tried it a second time, now knowing about the checkpoint system.
Imagine a headline and byline combo like that in the Wii U era: 133 eshop games on sale that were a 9 or a 10.
