More on the point: it would be an interesting twist on the whole "bound to the spirit of the Hero" prophecy but I just don't see Nintendo intending that. Just look at the visual cues – Demise looks like a steroid popping Ganon with a lion's mane. Plus Demise always seemed to represent the Power of the Triforce, same as Ganon/dorf.
Currently on the plate:
Mount and Blade: Warband – Napoleonic Wars
Chivalry
Super Mario 3D World – Finishing the last few levels.
Mario Kart 8
In order of relevance Dark Samus, Dark Link, Wolf, Dark Pit, Shadow Mario, Dark Mario, Dark Peach (and Dark Peach from TTYD), Dark Bowser (and Dark Bowser from Bowser's Inside Story), Dark Luigi, Phantom Ganon, Possessed Zelda, Phantom Zant, Shadow Kirby, and finally Shadow Lugia (along with hundreds of shadow pokemon). Am I missing anyone?
Not to mention the dark worlds in A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, A Link Between Worlds, etc.
That all being said, I never got tired of this trope. We're still long overdue for a good Dark Link showdown.
I think the origins of Dark suggesting evil and Light suggesting good are very likely tied to the fact that night time is dark and scary. Conflating that with anything racial is almost definitely a dead-end alley of pointless anger.

I dunno, there is some crossover, at least in metaphor.

How? Unless you've got some kind of historical link that's about as meaningful as saying white chocolate has some connection with white people and black chocolate with black people. It's a completely meaningless statement except to very bad poets.

That's just it; people have made these obvious visual parallel forever in a variety of contexts. 'Chocolate' and the more hateful pejorative 'midnight' have been terms for African-Americans, if not people of African descent around the world. It isn't necessarily the case to Zelda, but that can hardly be extrapolated to the rest of society.
But anyway, Zelda; do we think there'll be any black people in it this time?

Lol you seem to be continuing to look to perhaps the most traditional medieval fantasy series in all of video gaming for your contemporary political statements. Might I recommend Mass Effect or Star Trek? Futuristic sci-fi is so much better if that's what you're looking for because they can do all of that stuff without having to adjust the logic of the world. I'm not saying Zelda couldn't ditch the kind of medieval fiefdoms style tribal world, it definitely could and it'd be pretty interesting. Something a bit more developed like the world of FF9 would be really interesting for them to try.
But it strikes me as incredibly unlikely.

Dude, slow your aggro-political roll. I was just asking an innocent question to bring the discussion back to the main topic. There are no 'quotas' nor should you hyper-defensively assume there are. I was just musing. Anyway, the Gerudo are quazi-arabian so I don't see what's so canon-breaking if different shades of non-white people were brought in.
And that guy from Twilight Princess isn't black at all (just look at him) he just has an afro, much like his sister does;

My aggro-political roll is needed to flatten your aggo-political dough.

-_- I'm not being political. You'll know when I'm being political. 'Til then, let's not be political.
I'm not against the idea of asking for more variety in design, but asking for skin color becomes too political and is generally not that constructive for some people.

The real question is why? Why should there be? The game is fine the way it is.
