Yeah, I understand, @Ryu_Niiyama .... Too often, most of the team in games something like this feel like they're disposable but it's much better when they're pretty much all essential to the story instead

@Ryu_Niiyama I like having so many paths and sometimes hard choices. My friend is also playing this game and we pretty much have made the same choices, but he must have answered something a little different than me in a chapter since we had very different paths within a path. Same end result basically, but very different events.

@komodo182 @BruceCM @JaxonH Truly this game is quite the hidden gem. The more I play it the more engrossing it becomes. Also F Hyzante. I wanted to like them, but woo. I saw the Source. Just F Hyzante. I mean Gustadolph and his freakshow siblings can go somewhere too but I got so mad at Hyzante that for two seconds I was like can I form an alliance with Gustadolph and whip Hyzante's butt?

@Ryu_Niiyama Neither of them are great cultures...
@BruceCM I'm on 13. It would be interested to hear everyone's paths they took (later on when more people finish the game).

Just curious... is anyone playing on HARD difficulty?

I'm playing on NORMAL, and it's quite challenging enough, in fact I find it to be the perfect difficulty for my skill level. Hard enough it feels like a genuine, hard fought victory each battle, and sometimes I even lose when I make a careless mistake, but it's not brutal to the point of frustration. I love it.

But I also recall hearing tons of people voicing their desire for a legit HARD mode in Fire Emblem, and even complaining when the HARD mode it had wasn't hard enough (for me it was, I couldn't beat the mock battle on HARD CLASSIC without losing a character, and after several consecutive losses bumped it down to NORMAL CLASSIC).

I feel like Triangle Strategy HARD mode will give the strategy experts the challenge they yearn for. Like. This game is bringing the goods in spades, if quality tactics difficulty is what you seek.

I tried to get into this game with the demo, but I've been having trouble with the demo itself. The gameplay seems pretty appealing, but both times I played it, I either lost focus, or I almost fell asleep while playing it. The world and story just.. doesn't seem that interesting to me? I've only played a bit of the demo, but it feels like the entire plot at the moment is just about people fighting over salt and iron, as well as a heavy political influence. The decision idea is cool, but everything just kinda feels mundane in a way. Not as interesting as other SRPGs with worlds full of eldritch creatures or people with supernatural fighting abilities.

So after I got the pink rock I started wondering if there were other exploration phases I didn’t do so well. I’m thinking about re importing my demo data to try again and see if I missed something. I’m gonna keep my normal run as it was organic but this may warrant an instant replay. I love the mock battles; the later ones seem wildly different than the normal gameplay ones which make them interesting for more than grinding.

Gustadolph is an arse but it is interesting how he even plays those that hate him to his advantage.

@VoidofLight Triangle Strategy is definitely going for a very grounded, politics-heavy approach to high fantasy.

Based on what you seem to be looking for, I'd say something like Midnight Suns is probably going to be more your jam.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

Does anybody know the level cap?

Yeah, that'll be good, @komodo182 ... I'm playing on easy, @JaxonH but I'm not 1 of the people complaining about FE games being too easy & quite like the options they've added in more recent games
Even on easy, you still have to plan in every battle & there's enough that are quite challenging as it is, IMO

@JaxonH I'm playing on normal. I am assuming there will be a new game plus option for replay which I will switch into hard mode most likely.

@Ralizah Eh. I think fire emblem is probably the series that’ll appeal to me more. It’s just hard to get into, given that I am not great at deciding what class my characters should be.

Finished.... Think I got the 'best' ending! Certainly an epic last chapter Will replay soon to try other choices & see how those go

@BruceCM wow already?! That's amazing. You able to at least get a few winks of shut eye, I hope. What are we looking at? About 60-70 hours? Or 40-50?

NintendoByNature

BruceCM

About 30 for a playthrough, @NintendoByNature .... Depends how much grinding you want to do, of course & with all the choices, it's designed to be replayed (I saw it saying about NG+ at the end, too)

@BruceCM oh that's not nearly as long as I thought. I think I'm at chapter 6 or 7, and about 7.5 hours.

NintendoByNature

BruceCM

Guess it might also depend how fast you read, @NintendoByNature .... As well as how many mock battles & other variables but I'll certainly be replaying it at least once, to see what the opposite decisions lead to
You liking it?

@BruceCM yea, I do every mock battle at least once. Sometimes twice for grinding. I also do every side mission/conversation. It's pretty good thus far. I really like it, but im waiting for that 'fire emblem 3 houses moment' where i can say its one of the best games I've ever played. While I'm newer to the genre, nothing tops 3H for me. This is really good, though. The story and dialog are intriguing enough to keep me reading on and not skipping. But of course, it's the gameplay that I'm here for, and it in fact, does shine there.

BruceCM

Yeah, I did all the side bits, too, @NintendoByNature .... Definitely plenty left for you in it that might make it a favourite
