@BruceCM Awesome. I do a lot of mock battles. So it will defintively take me longer than 30 hours.

I did it! I freaking won without burning any village huts!

Oh my freaking GOSH that was difficult. Like, one of the most difficult battles of ANY srpg I've played. It wouldn't be that bad if I'd used the fire contraptions designed for the stage, but I wanted to see the true ending, which required not relying on them at all for this battle- a challenge indeed. I died, and then died again, and died again, and each time I'd have like 15 enemies remaining, then 12, then 10...

On this last run, I lost half my crew, then Erador, then Anna, then Seranoa... all I had left was Hughette and the kid mage, grandson of Archmage Grandante or whoever. I had both on the roof and had like 8 enemies left, with 2 archers who could reach me and a Knight who would climb up on the roof to get to me.

The knight rammed Archmage Grandante's grandson and knocked him off the roof into the pile of enemies and Avlora, but I ran to the narrow passage on the right, Avlora chased me and almost OHK me, but with a sliver of live I got to the rightmost roof and took out the knight as my final blow before dying from an archer.

That bought me time for Hughette to blind an archer, giving me one archer to deal with. Took him out, then the other archer became unblinded but I took them out. Then it was easy pickens sniping the rest from the roof.

Kinda felt like cheesing the last half dozen enemies but no, screw that. It's strategy. Like chess, if you have a queen left and they have a knight, you know you'll eventually win. Your mobility makes you untouchable. Same here. As soon as I took out the last knight and 2 archers I knew I'd won.

But I almost threw the game! There was a blue spoil bag on the road, and it was out of the enemies' range (barely) so I figured I could drop down and grab it. But then Avlora got TWO turns in a row due to her insane speed and knocked me so hard I thought for sure I was a gonner. My heart sank to my stomach, "Nooooo! I screwed it up!!!" But she managed to cling to life with a sliver of HP. I quickly flew back to the roof and spent 2 turns drinking potions to top off just in case.

Eventually took the remaining enemies out and whittled down Avlora's HP, until the inevitable Victory screen. All without lowering difficulty to Easy.

I feel proud. Like that was a serious accomplishment!

@JaxonH that’s about how mine went except the AI clustered trying to get away and I would just drop to the ground to lure them and then perch back on the roof and make it rain. Hughette needs her own noble house after this.

Yeah, that's quite a challenge to do that way, @JaxonH ... I think you should find it was worth it, though! Glad everyone is still enjoying it

@JaxonH That's awesome. I burnt down one house...using hughette....while on the house....hawks don't fly if a house catches fire.....she isn't a flying unit all the time....fun fact. I didn't like that it auto targets the contraptions.

Early reports suggest that Triangle Strategy sales have begun slightly better than Octopath Traveler's did.

That bodes well.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

@Magician good stuff. I'm really hoping it does well. Aside from loving the gameplay, I love the art style and want SE to continue using this style moving forward on multiple projects. Live A Live will also be a day 1 for me.

A new review I ran across. I basically agree with everything they say, except the controls. I haven't had any issues with the controls.

@Magician
I hope so.

Octopath had the advantage of being the first HD-2D game, and the hype that came with that. While Triangle Strategy had the disadvantage of coming after Octopath and Bravely Default 2, and being an SRPG which, typically is less popular than JRPGs.

But it's so much better, it deserves it. It's also competing in a very cramped time frame with Pokémon Legends Arceus still fresh, Atelier Sophie 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring, Chocobo Racing GP and Kirby right around the corner.

Someone made a guide for all paths and endings in Triangle Strategy. They did mistakenly list 2 incorrect answers which are explained in the comments

I just made that big decision in chapter 7. It's going well, although that was a tough one to make. I pretty much stopped right after, so I'll pick back up tonight.

@JaxonH And you should post it here without using spoiler tags because?

Did the avlora battle in chapter 7, and woah! After about 4 or 5 tries on normal, I had to drop down to easy. I nearly lost on easy too lol. Problem is I didn't stock pile enough potions and geela was, unfortunately, one of the first few to fall.

I actually took out avlora early on hoping that would be it since I got tired of doing the same battle over and over. Then I realized I had to take down every last one if them! I ended up not activating any fire switches, and eventually pulled through with a few members left and 0 potions left. It was nearly close to another game over.

It also doesn't help I had 10 slots open but only have 9 characters ready. I must've missed a recruit able character somewhere along the way. Anyone know how(or if) you can get them at this point?

BruceCM

Hmm, don't suppose you know who you're missing, @NintendoByNature ....? You know when the game told you it added something to the map? Did you check that out as soon as you could? Not sure if that'd still be available now or not, sadly!

@NintendoByNature Always a good idea to listen/watch the character stories.

Yeah, just to note, I had 3 characters joining about the start of chapter 7, making 12 to choose from for that battle .... I dunno if those automatically appear about then or what requirements there are, unfortunately! Probably guides appearing specifically for such questions by now, since I'm sure others have looked into it?

@NintendoByNature
It's a tough battle. Even on Easy I'm sure it was still quite the challenge, as I've heard Easy is still pretty challenging and not a total cake walk.

So far I've recruited Corentin, Julio, Narve, Piccoletta and Hossabara. Though I didn't use Piccoletta or Hossabara because my roster was full and I'm not big on Piccoletta's item based playstyle (maybe on NG+ when I have money to afford it). I'm trying out Hossabara now in a mock battle to see how good she is.

I believe certain characters only get unlocked as your Morality, Liberty and Utility scores in the background reach a certain threshold so, it may come down to how your playthrough has gone specifically.

Ah, is Corentin the one you get if you goto Hyzente instead of Aerfrost, @JaxonH ....? I got Hossabara, Narve & Julio all around the start of Chapter 7! Those are 3 great party members, generally, though Easy isn't a 'cake-walk' for any part of this game, I can assure you but particularly for THAT battle
