I'm a Dream Fighter. Perfume is Love, Perfume is Life.
@Ryu_Niiyama by using cutting weapons like Dual Blades/Long Sword and hitting a certain amount of damage on a monster tail, you manage to cut it tail,if i not mistaken you need to do 50/70 damage in the tail to cut it, the Hunter Notes tell you which part to break(incluiding the tail), after cutting a monster tail, don't forget to carve it.
Not in mine. They’re excellent addition of dialog that adds character and personality and a level of immersion that, quite frankly, makes the game far more exciting to play. I’m not saying silent protagonists aren’t a viable approach, but it does, more times than not, make games feel more dated. A Hunter from a character creator doesn’t have the same imaginative personality a long established character such as Link has, even if they let you give him a name.
The reason I compare it to other quality of life features is because it’s legitimately improved the quality of my experience. Picking mushrooms is more exciting now. Fighting monsters is more engaging. Hearing my hunter say, “aw, that’s cute” to my pet owl is endearing. It’s one of the best additions of Rise and definitely one of the modernizations I’ll be missing most if I ever go back to play World or MHGU again.
But no need to take offense at me enjoying it. They gave a slider and 3 languages so everyone can enjoy the game how they prefer, so everyone’s happy.
@Ryu_Niiyama
You’ve gotten a few answers, some long, some short, but I’ll try to keep it simple. Deal enough cutting damage to a tail and you can sever it, if that particular monster’s tail can be severed (not all can- check hunter’s notes for Large Monsters, and under Rewards tab, see if the tail is one of the rewards).
Other parts can be broken, which is more easily done with blunt weapons. Dual blades aren’t the best weapon for cutting tails because they don’t have reach (not saying they can’t, it’s just more difficult). There’s a few moves that lead into the spinning move that slices down a monster’s length, but that’s only momentary damage along the tail. There’s also a silkbind move which launches you into the air, which you could then combo into the spinning move or just attack the tail if you’re near it, but again, momentary damage. Your best bet for dual blades is attacking the monster’s feet to knock them over, then attack the tail when they’re down.
No idea what the hit box is. Basically the tail itself is the hit box. Somewhere around the base of the tail where it begins, I suppose. Damage threshold will be different for every monster, and frankly I don’t even know their HP values so I definitely don’t know the damage threshold for cutting tails. I just cut until I get a chop chop.

I genuinely believe the reason people have such drastically different reactions is due to the varying quality of voice lines. In the demo I tried all weapons and thus heard all manner of voice actor personalities, and while a few were fantastic, a few were cringe. And if I had one of those voices for my character, I might feel the same way.
But my chosen voice over is actually really impressive and natural. Capcom has provided one free character edit voucher on the eShop under the DLC. I recommend anyone unhappy with with talking try a different voice actor, and pick carefully after listening to the action samples.

...Welp, I started noticing this in the Miitopia demo, and found out it affects Rise...
...
My Pro controller has drift in the right stick, it did last me a long time, and was originally not mine anyways. But yeah...it's not THAT bad, but it was really annoying in Miitopia...and just now noticing that it's messing with my camera in this game.
I WOULD go for the MH Rise edition controller, but of course I can't...
...
I hate scalpers...whatever, a normal plain controller is fine....I GUESS.
Anyways yeah, playing this game again, just for a little bit. lol

Ok so I have a way to try and get this damn bazel gem once and for all, there is a gem in this game that has a chance of giving you more stuff, if I max it out to 3 the chances of me getting the game will be much better, then I can finally say I master'd this damn monster, but first I want to use another CB other then the narg, but the weapons sharpness is not up there, so i'm going to have to grind out mag for the polish gem to, then hopefully after all this, I can move on to kushala.
Ok I want to ask yall something, i'm looking for a 3rd weapon to main and here are the ones that look cool to me, Gunlance, or (My main back in world for a long time, before I found out about LS, that used to be my 2nd main,) Duel blade's. Idk which one I should really try to learn, as to why i'm asking LOL.

Got all the scrolls in Shrine Ruins last evening. I set out on an expedition to find the last 3, and find them I did. That map is pretty big and a lot of areas to explore, especially when there’s only a few left and you don’t have a clue where to start looking.
Got the Wooden Magnamalo carving as a prize afterwards. Love it.
@Snatcher
Gunlance is fun, but if you’ve already mained it, maybe try something else.
I like Switch Axe and Charge Blade and Hunting Horn most. Then Gunlance and Insect Glaive. Then Dual Blades and Long Sword.
They’re all good.
@Joeynator3000
Scalpers aren’t really to blame.. They account for such a small percentage of total sales. It was a limited item and that’s why you can’t get one. That’s one of those things you had to order when you had the chance. I know I posted it several times in here.
Anyways, pro controllers aren’t really known for drifting. That’s not to say it can’t happen (obviously, you’re having issues) but if it does, it’s more likely to be from a different cause than say, joycon or PS5 analogs. Meaning, you should try recalibrating the stick in settings, you should try rebooting the system with the analog in a neutral position, and you should also try blowing it out with canned air just in case. It may not work, but the first two are free and only take a minute, and the second one is only a couple bucks and takes a minute.

The pro controller is old, recalibrating does nothing. I don't know what was causing it, but yeah it was happening. I already bought a new one so, it's whatever.

@Northwind That explains why I kept getting knocked back by the Chameleos last night. Though I will say besides that I really like what they've done with this incarnation of him, likewise for Kushala, much more fun to hunt now.
For the first time ever (I'm very boring I know) I've started to experiment with mixed builds, I used to go off straight sets and wouldn't experiment much but this has really opened the game up for me. I have a set for Lance/Gunlance (mostly the latter) that works for me at the moment but I am also trying to think of what to go for with the Greatsword. Does anyone have any Greatsword sets on the go, what skills should I be aiming for?
The habit of randos to try to trap literally everything is hilarious.
That is a serious phenomena. I've come to the conclusion the "Join Request" randoms are not real MH players and just trying to burn through the game as fast as possible. They'll go back to their "main" games of Overwatch, Destiny, Call of Duty (any), Fortnite etc. etc. I try to avoid it at all costs and stick with lobbies. When its my turn to choose a quest I'm the only one that accepts it normally. If anyone joins in they gotta join the lobby first then hop in. I feel bad for the players that join a lobby but can't join the quest because any available spaces are filled with those randos.
One positive change I've noticed with the new update there's a higher percentage of actual MH players. Not just the 'get it over with' players. Those ones reside more in the below 40 rank. Anything after that rank you find the more dedicated fanbase.
This fire is burning and it's out of control. It's not a problem you can stop it's Rock and Roll!!!
Picked up the LBG and wow, it's so ridiculously easy to get a KO and a tail slice, at least in solo play. As long as you don't miss your shots of course.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
Ok know what, screw all the gems, grinding them is a pain in the ass, So I just went to go fight kushala anyway, I got two faint's and killed him using magnamalo, The kushala set is kinda creepy,
I was also grinding out gems so much, right after I beat kushala Lion boy was ready to go, GREAT!!!
