I do think it makes the older experiences feel dated though. In the same way that the smoother movement makes them feel dated, the better monster AI makes them feel dated, the more streamlined crafting makes them feel dated and the quality of life additions make them feel dated.
It doesn’t automatically make them outdated just because it’s new, it does so by its own merit. It doesn’t mean I hate the older games- on the contrary, MHGU is one of my favorite games ever, but there’s no denying there are many things in that game that feel dated by comparison, and at least for me, the empty, blank, characterless nature of the Hunter is certainly one of them.
I’m sure it also comes down to the character’s voice you choose. Some of the voices I heard were... not so good. But I made sure when I chose my hunters voice in the character creator, I tested all the samples first and made sure I was happy with it before starting my game.
And while I do prefer English, I think even having MH language would be better than nothing (slider adjusted to one’s preferences, obviously).
@Snatcher
Oh ya. Slider from 0 - 100% means anyone can find a ratio that works well for them.

@Snatcher
Lance is an interesting weapon. I used it in MH3U for underwater combat, and again in the latter end of World for funsies.
Honestly, I’m not too keen on the Lance in Rise, just because gunlance is so fun and I’m not a fan of the silkbind moves I saw for Lance, but then again I haven’t seen all of its switch skill moves. Maybe I’ll give it a try since I’m currently playing gunLance and that wouldn’t be too big of a stretch. Used to run Evade-Lance sets with full Evasion + Evade Distance, and chain a triple backhop for full i-frames the entire time.

Ended up rolling the credits last night to my surprise. I was about halfway through 4 star missions and I was given an urgent quest, so I ended up doing it. I guess I should have expected the credits to roll after fighting the big bad but im not sure why it didn't have me finish all 4 stars before offering it to me. It was an ok time. I know I didn't do everything in the game but I'm ok with it. I put about 15 hours in and saw what I needed to see. I can say, while I didn't have a bad time, I'm not sure MH is really for me. I'm at the very least glad I tried it out though.
@NintendoByNature Technically, that's not where the story ends either. The credits basically roll half-way through the game, as the next update is adding the actual ending of the game's story.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@VoidofLight I looked it up and read that actually. Kind of an odd choice but from what I understand the game is meant to be played for months and months with new things being added. So I get it. I'm happy where I ended it though.
@northwind yea for sure..maybe ill check it back out after a while.
@Northwind i see, so i very close to find the final boss of the game, considering a just need to beat the 5🌟Urgent Quest at the Hub Area, complete the necessary Quest of 6🌟 of the Hub Area and voila, final boss here we go, the 3.0 update of Monster Hunter Rise is gonna add the definitive final boss and ending of the game.
@Northwind When you battle her more you'll find that while yes this fight sucks for gunlance in particular, there are plenty of opportunities for melee users in general to attack.
When it's just sort of floating there upside down, the face and arms are back the vulnerable, and there are lots of times where it just sort of stands there in front of some platforms specifically for melee users to wail on its....weird egg sac, and tail.
Sure it likes to fly around from one side of the arena to the other at times, but there's plenty of extra wirebugs around at all times she you should have no issue keeping up.
I don't have an issue fighting it with my Switchaxe.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
On the topic of Hub quests just generally taking longer in Rise than in older MH games, does anyone here who's HR-broken ever get sub-5-minute clears of easier quests anymore?
Back in older versions (pretty much all of them), once you had a decent set of high rank gear you could go back to low rank and mop up all the quests you passed up the first time, and it was really quick.
I just ran the 1-star Azuros quest using a full set of high rank gear, including a 'maxed' Gunlance (205 effective Attack, 15% Affinity, blue sharpness, no element). I was engaging the Azuros within 30 seconds of starting the quest (since he starts that one literally right below the base camp, so literally all you need to do is jump down and you're on him). It still took me over ten minutes to kill him, and I was being super aggressive too. (High defense lets you do that, lmao.)
@Northwind Just tried that 1* Hub Arzuros quest with my end-game Switch Axe set which is pretty optimised for damage to test it out. It started in area 7 for me and I played pretty poorly (got hit a lot and even pinned) but it still died in 2:18.
@Northwind Insect Glaive users can also easily knock the final boss down quite a lot. Honestly, the fight is so easy with the mobility afforded by IG. You barely need to touch the ground at all as they are such a massive target so you can bounce around quite easily.
