I've tried to get into Monster Hunter in the past but it has never really been able to capture me before, but this one looks amazing. Definitely getting it.
So does that confirm the rumors they were making a Switch-specific version of the RE Engine as well? It was repeatedly being alluded to that this game would be the first to be powered by it

Nothing will beat that SMT direct for me, but this was an awesome reveal, and the direct was awesome in general. This game looks unbelievably good for the hardware.
@Anti-Matter Yeah, there's normally two variants of bowguns and a bow. I'm curious to see if they take the fast, rapid-fire approach of World with the bow or the heavier style of the old games. Either way, this and the announcements of a Stories sequel made my day.
This was the best Direct of the year, but SMT III HD/SMT V were my favorite announcements. I was so excited. I never get that excited.
2020 is a little slow for Switch, but 2021 is looking fantastic. And with Horizon 2 being a cross-gen title... lol, I won't need a next-gen home console for many moons.
@Ralizah I'm personally getting a PS5 purely so I can get a headstart on next gen while bringing my PS4 games over. I'm cool with the cross gen stuff for launch window games personally

@Ralizah of course, those were the biggest bangers ever. Only reason I liked this one more is cause it actually showed gameplay, and Capcom usually releases their game on the set release date. Fingers crossed they won't just show another cinematic trailer for TGS.
2021 is shaping up to be an amazing year, regardless of your preferred platform.

@Apportal There are a ton of AAA titles lined up. The PS5 showcase yesterday had a lot of amazing AAA games on display, and for the Switch we've got SMT III, SMT V, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Rune Factory 5, Disgaea 6, Ys IX, No More Heroes III, and potentially Bayoneyta 3 and BoTW 2. I'm sure there's a lot more we've yet to see as well.
@Apportal Um...? What exactly is your definition of indie? I'm genuinely curious.
Most of the announcements for 2021 (save Sports Story, Braid, Mineko's Night Market, Stanley Parable and Axiom Verge 2), are by major publishers, not indies. Balan Wonderworld is Sega, SMT III / V are Atlus/Sega, Disgaea and Trails of Cold Steel are published by NIS America, both Monster Hunters and Digimon Survive are Capcom, Bethesda has Doom Eternal (presumably), Koei-Tecmo has Ryza 2, Bravely Default II (presumably as well) is Square-Enix, Lego Star Wars is Warner Brothers, Inazuma Eleven is Level-5, No More Heroes III is Grasshopper, etc.
I mean, Level-5, NIS, and Grasshopper are mid-tier publishers, but still
@link3710 I’m too tired to explain myself. I guess I’ll just delete my supposed controversial comment. Sorry for the confusion. I have a base of reasoning I just don’t feel like explaining it.
