funny thing. I was in an online Hub quest of a Rath. I wandered off not too far an saw a rajang sleeping so I took a photo of it then attacked it with my great sword then it wiped me out.

Upgraded to a full pair of Tigrex armor. Couldn't resist those earplugs, or the bludgeoner skill, for that matter. Also represents another step up in my defense.

Also changed to a different hunting horn. Just not a fan of the Rampage Agitato's songs.

@Northwind @FattyWhale_42 @Ulysses It was fun, folks. Let's do it again some time.

....Yeah I just needed a break from this game, even Tetranadon was causing me to fail quests.

Got back into the game tonight and was back to normal....though I just fought Diablos, and...

...Don't tell me that in Master Rank he'll start doing that attack where he roars and then immediately rushes at you full power. xD

They may be coherent but that doesn’t mean they hold water, and that’s why I chimed in. Because as a newcomer you won’t know any better, and will listen to people who’ve been soft-bashing the game since before it came out (they’ve made it abundantly clear by repeating over and over how they resent it being on Switch and wish it was on other platforms, so the motive to dislike the game from the start is pretty clear, motive to nitpick things to not like about it and that’s exactly what we observe). The fact nobody else shares their critiques makes them even more suspicious, but as a newcomer you won’t know that.

By all means listen to whoever you want, but the reason I chimed in was because I feel you are being led astray by a long dissenting voice with a chip on their shoulder toward this game from day one. If you’re specifically looking for valid criticisms, there are plenty that both veterans and newcomers alike share and actually agree upon, but you’ll quickly find none of them are enough to hold it back from being, at the very least, a game worth buying, and at most, the best game of all time, depending who you ask.

I can’t speak to real life but I think most people in the community are welcoming to new players, and will go out of their way to help guide them as I and others here will gladly do for you too. The challenge was specifically concerning you taking certain things as fact from a lone dissenting voice with viewpoints which call their motives into question. I’m trying to make sure you don’t get let astray and miss out on one of the best games on the system. When I said you need to make a commitment if you get into it, I really meant that- not to be hostile but to protect you from spending $60 on a game you won’t enjoy, because this is a game that requires new players to commit to learning the systems, and failing that you won’t have a very good time. It’s why so many new players try the demo and don’t like it.

Those amiibo are really worthwhile for content. I’ve been entering the lottery every day, stacking up armor spheres, aquaglow jewels, mega demondrugs and armorskins, Potions, traps, etc. if you add all of that up over the span of many months playing the game... that’s a ton of items. Above and beyond the layered armor. I like it.

@DarthNocturnal
The charging attack was added in World. The Rise move set basically imitates World for 85% and the other 15% is new or taken from MHGU. The spinning axe was taken from Savage Axe which I believe was added in MH World Iceborne.

When FattyWhale_42 invited me yesterday, I got a notification in my quest I was playing. You already played online as I can see, but if I set up a lobby, all you have to do is go to friends list and find my name and join my lobby. Once we’ve hunted together and shared likes, we’ll each show up on the other’s mutual likes list, which I find to be a lot faster than loading the friends list which can sometimes have a few seconds lag.

@TeeJay
Do Rampage skills only activate during a rampage? Or are they buffs for any hunt and quest?

@JaxonH your inability to look at this game objectively shows your obvious bias.
Nobody here shares my critiques but then again there's only like 5 people talking about the game and you pipe up regarding anything you see as negative and squash it - its obvious that as a fan you are unable to view things about the series objectively.

I have not once said I didn't like the game, and wanting it on a more powerful system isn't a dig at it. I do wish that the game was able to utilise more power and have HD visuals with a higher framerate - you have to admit it gets overly confusing to see whats going on when 4 hunters and 4 pets are all attacking a monster at once, and the stuttering of enemies in the background make them look like they are under strobe lights which is distracting and annoying.

As for the difficulty, just go and read the Monster Hunter subs where this is getting openly discussed, a lot of people are stating that the combat difficulty has been toned down and the hunts have descended into mindless button mashing mayhem.
I can pretty much guarantee you will come back saying that your favourite youtubers say its the same difficulty as always so it must be everyone else who is wrong, or that it's just us World players moaning.

On the plus side it is a much easier game to play when high than World ever was, I don't need to focus so much on what's going on and can just relax into the mindless fun of a hack and slash.

@Mr-Fuggles777
No I don’t. I pipe up anytime I see a criticism that doesn’t hold water. Especially when they get repeated over and over on a near daily basis. There’s a difference.

I am a fan and I absolutely make no apologies for it. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have the common sense to know a valid criticism from one that’s just being conjured out of thin air.

Yes it can get overly confusing to see with four hunters (hey, see there, VALID criticism) but that has nothing to do with the system it’s on.

And yes a lot of people are talking about difficulty, but they are specifically referring to the village quests, not the Hub (which I myself and virtually everyone else here has already acknowledged). So you’re taking something and spinning it in a way to make it seem as if others share your opinions, but that’s not the case.

For a game that you said you were done playing and didn’t have endgame content, it’s strange that we still see you around here, still talking about the game, still playing it, obviously. Which means you’re not done playing it, and yet... you’ve already passed judgment on how many hours you’re getting from the game (which just proves my point). Either quit playing, get out of this forum and play something else as you’ve said you’re going to do multiple times now, and then you can make one final statement passing judgement on how many hours you got, but you can’t complain about the hours, say you’re gonna play all these other games instead, but then stick around for another 3 months playing the game lol. That’s the kind of stuff I’m talking about. If your criticism was true then you wouldn’t still be here.

@JaxonH I'm still playing because there's nothing else to play on the switch atm and it's fun. I also got it for free after selling the Magnamalo amiibo which is definitely a plus to it being on the switch.

That doesn't mean that there is an abundance of endgame content - there obvious isn't and as for difficulty I have only played Hub so that is what I'm basing experience on - I've either got significantly better at the game since world or it has been made easier - does it just stroke your ego letring you think that you are good at the game because you don't fail missions.

I like a challenge, this doesn't provide one and objectively you must know that. Everything about it has been overtly simplified and toned down. Or am I not allowed an opinion that doesn't fit in with yours? If I annoy you so much why don't you just block me

@JaxonH Just to be perfectly clear, I was not implying that you were rude. And challenges are fine, of course. But not... what they call "gatekeeping", these days (again, I'm not accusing you of that). And that tendency, I have encountered before in regard to this franchise, especially the 3DS entry.

I'll reiterate that I find the specific points of both yourself and Mr. Fuggles to be interesting reading, even if people (invariably) have their biases...

@Mr-Fuggles777
It depends on what you define as endgame content. I’ll be the first to admit rise doesn’t seem to have as good of an end game as previous entries, but it hardly seems relevant since I’m going to have 300 hours under my belt by the time I get there anyways, and even once I do, The fact all the armor and weapons are equally viable within a certain margin of error means farming all the different sets could last the rest of the year. Wouldn’t be a surprise if I got more hours from this game than any other game in the series, and as a base game no less. Maybe that won’t be the case for you. Who knows.

And yes, you have gotten significantly better. I’ve been playing this series for 10 years now. Your first game, specifically your first few hundred hours, you were still learning the mechanics, so World felt way harder than it is for an experienced player, such as you are now. I’m not stroking my ego by saying I never fail, I’m making a point that it’s not difficult to the point of failing normal monster quests for people who are familiar with the series.

Objectively I don’t know what you’re talking about. Objectively the only thing I know is that the challenge is just right in this game, challenging enough to be engaging but not so much to be frustrating. Just like the last game and the game before that and the game before that. You are free to have a different opinion and that’s perfectly fine, we just don’t want to hear you repeat it ad nauseum. We heard you the first time. We heard you the first time about all these things you’ve said over and over. Now, can we please move on...

@COVIDberry
There is always some of that. Even back in MH3U, I joined a lobby once where everybody had the Kelli bow, which was a broken weapon in that game. I had a different weapon, and they all just sat there for 10 minutes and wouldn’t start the quest because I didn’t have the “right weapon”. Despite the fact I could probably keep a higher damage output than any of those guys. Thankfully that’s the only time I’ve encountered some thing like that – 99% of the time people have been fantastic. No community is perfect, and that’s certainly true of this community, especially after the popularity World and Rise have brought. But I still contend that this is the best community in all of gaming. You will never find a community more eager to help new players learn the ropes. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some toxic people who enjoy feeling superior, the Min-maxers who refuse to let anyone use anything less than meta dictates. But most will be glad to help assist you in anyway possible.

Dunno if anyone is paying attention to the extra story of the flying wind dragons that are affecting the twin girl or not.

That is also going on story wise in the Gathering Hub whether online or offline besides the main offline Village Magnamalo and Rampage stuff.

the game is actually pretty long enough in my opinion with the stuff thats been going on with the twins and the thing with Magnamalo and the Rampage stuff

Ten hours deep, HR2, thoroughly enjoying my time. If AC:NH and/or SSBU didn't exist, I would say MHR is the #1 reason to own a Switch. Several years from now, I could envision MHR continuing to be the best console exclusive Switch game. Sorry, Mario + Rabbids, you were cool for a minute.

@Magician Completely agree with you there, my village in Animal Crossing has been completely neglected since release and as much fun as I was having with Pyra & Myrtha I just haven't felt the desire to pick it up since Rise lost. To echo the sentiments of others I do find the challenge lesser (particularly in terms of the village quests) but it's certainly picked up in high rank. The core of this game is so compelling, particularly with all the new movement options, excited to see where they go from here with the updates.

Beat the final monster in this game. Hopefully Capcom patches in that last story monster soon.

With that said, it's not like the experience feels particularly incomplete or something. If I didn't know they were introducing the monster in a later update, I'd think it was a tease for the expansion coming next year.

I guess I could farm the boss for its parts, but I'm pretty darn happy with my Tigrex set atm.

Now I just need to farm for decoration parts and figure out how this Talisman melding thing works if you want to make one that's not trash.
