@Ryu_Niiyama
My amiibo finally shipped out yesterday, but only two of them. My Palamute amiibo is still delayed.
Will be at the end of the game by the time the amiibo arrive. Goodness. Which is fine because I don’t want to mask the awesome armor I craft throughout the game. I’m going to use the layered armor in the end game when I’m mixing sets. But it’s still aggravating.

@Ulysses I'm not even sure it's necessarily "hardcore" players that need to be addressed. I greatly appreciate the speedier play, I appreciated the sense of actually hunting and finding and tagging monsters etc in the past, but it also kept me from playing the games at much as I may otherwise have because it ready such a time draining slog. It's a double edged great sword. The more survivalist it becomes the more or borrows from Cabela's Deer Hunter and the less the capcom elements can shine even though it's a novel approach.
Otoh simplifications to the move sets, modes etc, even as a casual player, those elements really contribute to a unique set of toys to play with. It's still my favorite mh to date and I love it more than world for sure. And I do like it more then gen u. But I can definitely feel the pull to add those fiddley weapon customizations and things back. Maybe not the drinks and all though. They contributed to the survivalist, but with so many added features it would become a simulator rather than an rpg!
I never fought Zinogre or Nargacuga in IB, did anything change with them (besides the music, lol). Just wondering, also, Zinogre kicked my butt, still didn't faint, but....yeesh. xD

Keep it PG-13-ish.
@Mountain_Man I feel your pain on the package delivery front. Mines been stuck in a local sorting office since Friday.
The really annoying part is that this sorting office is a 30 minute walk from my house 😂
Assuming it arrives tomorrow, it will have taken six-days for the parcel to travel a distance of 211 miles. That's a three-hour drive one way! It wouldn't be as frustrating if FedEx had said from the start that it wouldn't arrive until Thursday or even Friday of this week, but they keep giving me delivery dates and then failing to deliver. FedEx needs to get its act together.
@JaxonH good to know. I preordered in store but this gives me hope.

Make no mistake- even though they removed hot and cold drinks and changed a few things with the moves, this game has far more meaningful depth, mechanically, than any MH that has come before it. The wirebugs, not to mention the switch skills mechanic which gives us a broader range of move sets than we’ve ever had access to, makes the gameplay of Rise far more rewarding.
Take Charge Blade, for example. Everyone thought it was going to omit Savage Axe from World. But it’s there. As part of Switch Skills. And not only is that there, there’s also two different play styles for guard points, multiple choices for silkbind attacks (which themselves are additional moves), and you can customize which play style and moves you use to cater to your strengths and play style. On top of which, you have to learn to integrate the wirefall recovery, wyvern riding and endemic life attacks into your combat.
That’s a level of depth we’ve never had. So this game has simultaneously added depth and complexity in meaningful ways while also removing the needless complexity which turned new players off, and, let’s be honest, never really added much to the experience (people can say they liked the hot and cold drinks and that’s fine, I never minded much, but it was a simple item upkeep like the paintball- every 10 minutes, gotta use another one, and when you had to do that for 6-7 different items it just became tedious- that tedium is gone in Rise).

You’re in the right mindset. Once you make your mind up to learn the game properly. you’ll follow through with it. And you have the advantage of all of us who can answer any questions you might have along the way. But my simple advice for now is to try out the 14 different weapons and find one you like, and then learn it’s combos. Picking a weapon in this game is like picking a fighter in a fighting game. If you don’t know their move sets you’re not going to do too well. Same here. You really need to get good with one specific weapon you want to main. And after a dozen hours or so if you feel like you want to branch out and try to main something else, you can do so. But even veterans such as myself have not mastered all of the weapons, even after thousands of hours in the series. I’ve played all the weapons but I can only say I’ve mastered about half of them. There’s going to be so many mechanics for you to learn in the early game that you really don’t want to overly bog yourself down with even more complexity by constantly changing your weapon all the time. Get proficient with one, then later branch out and learn another, and so on. Usually every game that releases, I pick a new weapon to learn and main.
@TeeJay I missed the 3rd one, the first time I saw it. That's why I wanted to give a quick heads-up, since I hadn't seen anyone here mention them. (>^_^)>
@JaxonH for sure. Appreciate the feedback and I'm sure there will be a learning curve. I pretty much have from now until SSHD with maybe mario golf taking up some time. If I have any questions I'm ill be sure to ask you guys and gals.
Hey I like a lot of the music in Rise, but Sandy Plains I was just disappointed that the Plains didn't get a remix after hearing the Flooded Forest's new theme.
Also, this...wtf?
EDIT: ...........I just realized that it's 4/1 over there....ugh...completely forgot about that stupid day.
