@JaxonH Yeah, I definitely agree about the depth the wirebugs add. Overwhelming depth of I'm honest. It's the SFII hyper fighting of mh games.
I actually never liked the drinks. But I can appreciate that sense of environmental hunting out instilled. The simplification if the bowguns since Tri is a little sad though. That was something really cool that separated it from other shooting mechanics in games.
I'm mostly in favor of MOST of the change. But bowguns got a bit of the short stick. HBG is quite powerful but a lot less interesting. And that experimental era with medium and customization made the shooters really unique. Now that I finally can use the gunner weapons without armor changes, they don't seem as appealing to use. Bow may be interesting still. Though tier lists are very unfavorable. Tier lists are also kind of a joke though.
I'm not using the Gunlance so I'm not entirely sure, but...Anjanath seems to not be constantly puffing out fire when enraged? That was highly annoying in World, I'd block an attack, yet he let's out a little poof and I get fireblight with ease...
I also think he's not constantly picking me up and tossing me as well, same with Rathalos. I hated those attacks in World, even when I block, they still get me. >.<

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Out of curiosity since I normally main bow is the power phial on a SA still the best phial type as I know they've changed it in rise so that the power phial charges slower than others.
MH Rise did about 1.3 million physical for first 3 days in Japan. Basically the same as MH World.
Less than I was expecting, but it seems that's all they shipped, given it has a 94% sell though. They need to restock ASAP- I suspect the game will have long legs as most Switch titles do. Let's see if it can break 4, maybe even 5 million in Japan including digital. If it claims evergreen status, I think it's possible.
Conservative estimate of 4m shipped for first 3 days means 2m JP incl. digital and 2m in the west incl. digital. That means Japan will at least go on to hit 3m bare minimum and the west will go on to hit 3m bare minimum. So we're looking at a floor of 6m sold. But it's likely total sales double the initial 3 day figure over time. So 8m sold is the high end.
Let's split the difference and say 7m, which is exactly what my initial estimate was. But again, if it spreads like wildfire due to hype and claims evergreen status, it could hit 8m or more.

Hmm, already the best selling non-Nintendo published game on Switch. Has an outside chance of creeping into the top ten best selling list before Pokemon D & P arrive. Pretty cool to see. I assume Capcom are at least satisfied with the game's reception?
I can't guess as to what kind of budget the game got. Not including the R&D cost for the RE engine on Switch.
@Jrpglover The full Almadrom armor looks great for SA. The only thing you might look to add would be Evade Extender. If you find that you're able to get to the charged state fairly often with the power phials then I would keep using it. If you're having trouble I would check out another phial type to make sure you're taking advantage of amped state.
Hey I like a lot of the music in Rise, but Sandy Plains I was just disappointed that the Plains didn't get a remix after hearing the Flooded Forest's new theme.
Also, this...wtf?
EDIT: ...........I just realized that it's 4/1 over there....ugh...completely forgot about that stupid day.
There are enough liberal nutjobs in the world that it's actually 100% plausible. Remember when PETA objected to Mario's Tanooki suit, and it wasn't an April Fools Day joke?
I'm actually really surprised that you don't need hot drinks to keep your Stamina from depleting in the ice area. I don't know if this was the same in world or not, since I never got to the ice or volcanic areas in that game, but I just find it to be pretty odd that they no longer have warm or cold drinks.

I burned 16 potions fighting Azuros + Izu on 2 star villiage playing with LS. What is WRONG with me?
For now I'm just doing the 2 star azuros quest over and over and over playing with the different weapons to dig into them. All using the base equipment. I haven't even done a rampage or unlocked switch skills yet!
@VoidofLight I have to agree with Jax on that one. The weapons being diminished to a degree are disappointing. BUT they've added tons and tons and tons of mechanics. Drinks feels like an MS DOS era of gaming where complexity meant adding timers and repeated events to maintain a sense of danger and complexity. They've added such a rediculous amount of stuff over the years, and experimented with so much stuff they've removed and replaced with other stuff (such as the MBG and customization options, underwater battles ,etc) that it's kind of surprising the drinks remained as long as they did. It feels iconic only because it was a gimmick that stuck around for such a long time without being rotated out for freshness. The drinks deserved to go. The paintballs, though, I can see a real strong divide on that one. I like the new form because I always hated the paintballs and I like the speedier action. But those do change the fundamental nature and pace of a hunt in a way that the drinks really don't. The paintballs make you have to find a monster, track a monster, etc like a real hunt. Removing that and putting them on the map makes it more of an arcade shift. Better for me, but worse for immersion. The drinks....tap "potion" every few minutes just to add more urgency and keep your mind unbalanced during a fight. It really wasn't different than a status-effect applied by the monster you have to take a potion for. Now with more moves, there's a lot of other things to keep you mind on, both offensively and defensively.
I love the volcano region. It feels super complex like Ancient Forest did, but easier to navigate and only 2 levels in the map vs 4 levels in Ancient Forest. This is how you make a huge sprawling map that's fun to explore without overdoing it.
And the same is true of Sandy Plains and Flooded Forest.
Shrine Ruins is much more straightforward, but even that has a ton to explore vertically. The Frost Islands are kind of in between Shrine Ruins and Flooded Forest or Sandy Plains.
@VoidofLight
Ichibose posted before release that hot/cold drinks wouldn't be returning.
They were in World, but they made chillshrooms grow everywhere in the volcanic region, with immediate auto crafting into cold drinks, so that even if you forgot them you had access all around you. Plus with fast travel and item restocking now, there really wasn't much point. So the decision to just cut them makes a lot of sense, as they were just tedious upkeep at this point.

Cheers I thought it was good just wanted someone to double check and tbh I don't really have issues getting to amped state I just wasn't sure if elemental or dragon phials had over taken in dps but glad to know my build is looking good
@NEStalgia Yeah, It felt weird that they got rid of the paintballs, but I'm guessing it was moreso to make the game streamlined for newcomers.
I was hoping that the big red arrow was a demo-only feature because it seems to remove the "hunt" aspect from a game called Monster Hunter. Been playing Generations Ultimate while waiting for my copy of Rise, and I really like entering a map and having to search for the monster instead of being led by the nose directly to him.
@Mountain_Man I don't think I saw any big red arrows. The monster can be easily tracked on the minimap though, since after you encounter it, it's icon will wander off.

I found the game to be a little too dumbed down. I mean the wirebug is fun to use, but the game really became extremely easy.
I miss the old days where even if you know a monster like your own pocket, it was still hard because they were so tough that just "not getting hit" wasn't enough. There were missions where a monsters was taking full 50 min to beat and you are racing against the time. Not just against your potions in inventory like it is now.
I literally am still in my starting gear, getting to HR and all I had to change was using normal potions to mega potions and im still fine.
@pablo1517 The only thing I can think of, is maybe harder hunts will be coming down the line in the form of the new monsters and the Expansion that adds G rank.
