Ooph. Can we not discuss the ending - even our takes on the ending - without spoiler tags, please? It's a bit of an ask, but it'd be nice to join in with this thread despite working through the game a bit slower than many others. I'm still only on the Metro Kingdom. That probably doesn't need tags as the most publicised Kingdom in the game, but anything relating to the end game is feel still does.

@Snaplocket Thank you! I mean, I don't know what you've blanked out, which is the point. But I appreciate the gesture.

@Souljaman22 Yeah, some people like you or @JaxonH do it within minutes whereas me and other people struggle with this hard. I don‘t know why, maybe it depends on how good somebody is with rhythm games or under pressure of performing. All I know is that I am absolutely tired of it.

@GoldenGamer88
I couldn't do the volleyball one. I got the 1st moon from it but that's it.

For jump rope, just got into a rhythm once it hit full speed- eyes glazed over, went into a trance like state and just focused on tapping jump as quickly as possible on the rhythm every time.

When I saw I was up to 87 (eyes blurred the image but I could kinda make out the number from the corner of my eye), my heart started pounding, but kept it cool and just continued on the rhythm...

All that Persona 4: Dancing All Night has finally paid off

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

Gotta admit I love that there are mini games so difficult to master. I love the challenge and amazing feeling of finally passing them. People rag on the 200 lightning strike thing in FFX all the time, and it is annoying, but once you figure out the rhythm, it became more intense/exciting than frustrating. I feel the same way for these

Can I just say how awesome the nods to SM64 are? Really, the nostalgia from the Mushroom Kingdom almost brought tears to my eyes: the paintings, the level start-up jingles — everything! I rock the SM64 outfit all the time. After binging on the game all weekend, I managed to approach 400 Moons. Loving this game.

I dont know how I feel about the post game content...

Every 3D Mario has 100% not be a matter of skill but tedium.

64 is the 100 coin stuff
Sunshine is that and Blue Coins
Galaxy is beating the game 100% twice for that extra level
Galaxy 2 is the Green Stars and 9999 Star Bits for that extra level
3D Land had getting all Medals and gold flags...twice for an extra level
3D World had getting all gold flags, green stars and stamps for an extra level, 5 times if you want the last 5 stamps

And now Odyssey has what looked like a little cleanup in each world but nope....nope....It does a Galaxy 2 in an already packed game. I beat the game with 450 moons and its double in size...

Skill is still a factor if you want to 100%. Some challenges definitely require a good understanding and level of skill to achieve.

I started off trying to do as much as possible, but quickly veered into "Do as much as I want until I get bored of the scenery and continue the story". Since I have a feeling trying to 100% the kingdoms the first time would be pointless. Leaves more for post-game.

Finally got to 100 on the skipping challenge during my lunch break, I can finally move on with the game...

Guys.

Guys, I finally did it. It may have taken almost the entire day and my body is shaking right now but I did it! Also, don‘t Watch the video if you haven‘t beaten the final boss yet. Had to use that music to power me up.

@Operative2-0 It does leave more for post-game if you do that.

Here's the thing though. You see that Moon list for each kingdom? See how there is a handful locked to post game? Take the entire list and double it. All those ones you don't have? Post game.

@BLP_Software Oh geez.

Here is my only complaint so far. I hope I'm not alone in this, but:

Too many nonsense moons. Maybe too many moons in general. Similar to korok seeds, there's only so much you can collect before it stops becoming "Yeah I got a Moon!" and it starts becoming "Oh look, another moon randomly placed in this easy spot".

I think if it were me, I would go with the less is more way of designing collectibles.

But since my only complaint is that there's too many things to collect, I call that a win overall

TuVictus

Haruki_NLI

@Operative2-0 I have that same complaint. Word for word right down to "Korok Seeds".

This game is quite clearly designed for you to get everything. They even tell you as such.

But yes. You think you are leaving meaty post-game content by skipping on Moons you could have gotten earlier....but you've just made your post game worse.

The Moons were surprisingly more unique than I expected. Some repeated examples, but for the most I've found them to be far more enjoyable than Korok Seeds.

Maybe making some of the more 'throw away' moons function like pieces of heart in Zelda would give the proper 'challenge moons' a bit more weight.

It definitely feels a little cheap when the Moon you get for pulling off a tough-as-tails platforming task is worth as much as the one you get for ground pounding a random lump of sand outside.

Still, maybe incorporating another way of valuing moons on top of Moon shards and Multi Moons might be a bit much.

But I think the concept of 'Mini Moons' (worth half a standard one) could better separate the wheat from the chaff.

^That's a similar suggestion I made at first as well. I think that would've helped.

No doubt about that! They're infinitely better than the seeds, so I'm not tooooooo bothered. I just hope both the Zelda team and the Mario team tone it back in terms of collectibles next time, lol

@Maxz They already exist: Moon Shards.

Anyway, I think they're more enjoyable to collect than Korok Seeds, since they are way more varied. But I wonder how many more I can endure until it becomes repetitive, or just checking off a checklist. I'm still discovering new locations and Moons, so it's all fine. I do wonder how many Kingdoms there really are though, since there's still room for one more.

Something that would do this game good is another boss or two. Some Kingdoms don't have their own unique boss fight, and they would benefit from such. The ice world for example. And the desert is so big, it could use another one too.
