@Blooper987 I agree, that's what it look me so long to get all the moons. Super Mario Odyssey is not exactly open-world but just bland. My copy of Super Mario 3D All-Stars hasn't arrived yet (was delayed) so I thought it would be a good time to beat this "odyssey".
Beat it. No more moons to collect but some purple coins that I can't find (3 in Mushroom, 3 in Sand, 16 in Wooded, 6 in Lake, 5 in Lost, 5 in Metro, 7 in Snow, 9 in Seaside, 17 in Bowser's).
I can't say that I've enjoyed Darker Side. Long and cruel, I'm not used to Pokio and Yoshi in this game, with Pokio one mistake and you're done. The platforms with a lot of enemies falling on you, it's a bit like those indie games that troll players. I've enjoyed some parts of this game but it's my least favourite Mario 3D game. Sorry... Same for Breath of the Wild as my least favourite The Legend of Zelda 3D game.
@Apportal Galaxy is always going to be my fave 3d mario game and game of all time, but I do have the say mario odyssey is great Its amazing but the music just is not there for me Its so boring but song like jum up superstar is good I can see why you don't like the game for me its a 9/10.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@Apportal@Snatcher My favourite Mario 3D game is Sunshine and my favourite The Legend of Zelda 3D game is... so difficult to select just one, it's Ocarina of Time (3D), Majora's Mask (3D) or Twilight Princess (HD).
Playing 3D All Stars really reminds me of how this game seems to have the DNA of past 3D games. It lets you collect most of the Moons in any order like 64. It has the acrobatic platforming and the flexibility to find your own way to navigate the world like Sunshine. And it has the unique settings, themes, and level gimmicks of Galaxy.
Replaying, and realised that the fact that you lose currency when you die and are given one chance to get it back makes this truly the Dark Souls of Mario games.
Wow. I'm amazed at how obvious some of Astro Bot's designs & features are copied from Mario Odyssey and Mario Galaxy (the mario galaxy planetary world map at 5:17). They clearly ripped ideas from Odyssey's water world design, even the zippers in the world that can be pulled, or places looking like Cascade Kingdom color, theming, lighting. ....that said, I'm glad to see other games coming out like this. Looks like a fun game.
I can't believe how long it's been since the last 3D mario, Mario Odyssey. Makes me wonder if the game might be bigger for Switch 2, or if this is a reflection of how much more time it takes to develop modern 3D Mario games.
I have a hard time imagining that they finished the next entry and have been sitting on it.

I can absolutely believe that has happened tbh. I can't imagine its even possible they took 7 years to make one 3D platformer and are still not done (even taking into account an upgrade in graphics for the new system), and even if already done its probably gonna have the most content of any 3D Mario, possibly by some distance.
One 3D Mario per console has been the standard, aside from Galaxy 2.
Until I'm proven otherwise, I will maintain that Bowser's Fury was intended to test ideas that will be expanded on in a fully inter-connected, next-gen 3D Mario sandbox. Possibly designed to launch alongside the system, considering it'll be a while before we get another 3D Zelda.
@WoomyNNYes Astro Bot's devs clearly enjoy Nintendo games and took liberal inspiration from them.
Stealing from the best is how the industry moves forward.
