Well frankly I’m a lil jelly. I’d say it’s a good investment.

@Yousef- Hello! How is your day going? Is it good? Are you feeling better and getting enough sleep? I hope your day has been well.

@Pastellioli truth be told, no I had to take another day off of work which stresses me out because I don’t wanna take too many days off work even if my body does not allow me to go there, which is why I’m anxiously anticipating the month where I’ll sign the papers to take 5 years off work for a “study vacation” so I won’t have to go to work and can continue my education. One of the cool perks in Kuwait. I can also just have a normal 3 months vacation if I want but I’m waiting the right time to pull the trigger on that. I got a small salary increase lately so that’s cool. Sorry if my terminology sounds rough, I don’t know what to call some things in English but I hope I conveyed myself well enough.

For me, the fact I slept twice today is proof I’ve not fully recovered from my sleep deprivation. This has Been a bi-weekly thing and I hope I’ll stop worrying about it.

My day has been… normal. Right now I am just writing a small introductory guide for Dynasty Warriors 8 and Romance of the Three Kingdoms (the novel and history period, not the Koei game franchise or the tv shows with the same name based on the novel). I have a minor headache, but I hope I’ll overcome it and find the energy to publish the guide. I’ve recently published a small essay/guide on why using guides in a dark souls playthrough isn’t a bad thing. All my guides and essays are published on the Push Square threads. To check if I published something, clicking on my account and hovering over my post-history would be a good idea, that is if I don’t already link them in my bio. Last one can ge found in the “You Died. A Dark Souls Discussion Thread*, the other two will be posted in the Recommendation Thread and Themes, Settings Thread. I love writing guides and essays. It’s quite relaxing. The script for them is on my phone and I continue to work on the script every few days so they take a while to get published, especially in the midst of my chaotic life.

@Eel i have a Dragon tetsubin and a Dragon Quest slime teapot so I’m good. They did come with wine glasses though. Grape juice it is. Lol.

@Yousef- It is…but as I look at my Okami and Dragon Quest tea cups (and my Yakuza whiskey glasses) and my new Princess Peach Apron and Mario Dishes I am starting to worry if I am trading one addiction (games) for another. I am not liking the fact that items adults care about like dishes and cutlery are mixing in with my hobbies. Murders the impulse control. That being said, I am going to have some very pretty tea parties.

Wait you can sign paper work to delay working while you go to school? That’s amazing. I’ve been going off and on to class over the past twelve years because I had to work full time (and usually with a second or third job). My career is finally established enough that I can pay for school out of pocket but even then I can only take two classes a semester. I’m gonna be like 50 before I finish.

@Ryu_Niiyama okami and dragon quest???? Girl, you living the life, I won’t even fib.
Princess peach apron? Mario dishes? So many things I never knew even existed. But a welcome knowledge nonetheless.

Nah I getchu. Addictive personalites suck hard. I wanted to get into collecting manga and trading cards but stopped for that very reason.

@Yousef- 😖 I am on a first name basis at the comic book store. And I have a 2 bookcases solely dedicated to manga. I am an avid reader so if my apartment ever catches fire I won’t make it out alive. I’m a homebody 70 percent of the time so I am a firm believer in my home being my sanctuary. Especially since I work from home. It’s rather difficult to separate the two sometimes so I make sure I have clear areas where I can decompress. I have a ways to go still but my hobbies drive me to elevate my career. But I have hit rock bottom before and climbed back out (more than once actually). So if I can do it and I am an idiot, anyone can.

I will say this: Life is long, wherever you are right now, you can do better if you want it badly enough and you live long enough. Life is short, too short to not have some of the joys of life. You don’t have to be rich to be wealthy (but be financially literate always). Put a little positivity energy into the world. Try to leave it a better place than when you came into it. Even if it’s a small thing. Aside from the lack of my (graduate) degree (working on it) if I died tomorrow I would have few regrets.

Oh I don’t know how much stuff you can get where you are, but My Nintendo Store, FanGamer, AmiAmi, PlayAsia and Amazon are great ways to build collections. Nintendo has a homeware collection that is mario themed. (Hence the Peach apron) I have about half of it (apron, dish towels, ceramic containers, pot holders) and I am getting the dishes next month but I have been pleased with my purchases. You may want to check it out if you need new dishes. Dragon Quest has a whole dishes set. I drew the line with a rice bowl and the tea pot and cup (and the cover for my luggage that makes it look like a slime). The only thing though? Moving is horrible or expensive depending on if you do it yourself or hire movers.

@Yousef- sorry, I was busy for the remainder of today.

Sorry you still don’t feel well, and I’m super sorry you feel a bit stressed over not going to work. I hope you feel better very quickly. Hope you are fine and comfortable at home. I can sometimes be like that with work and stuff I do at home too. I always want to make sure I stay ahead and succeed, but it sometimes gets in the way of my day from how worried I get. If I was sleep deprived too and unable to do stuff, I’d probably be super anxious and worrying too, as I’m super obsessive thanks to a disorder I have that I am still trying to overcome, but it’s being done unfortunately slowly. I feel like years ago I was more confident and happy, but now I’ve sort of become a nervous-wreck and been way too anxious and emotional over things, and I just feel like I’ve developed super awful habits that I need to break out of. It feels like I’ve done so much damage to myself that I now need to slowly repair.

My day was fine at first, a song I love a ton finally got added to my rhythm game and I had an absolute blast with it, and I got a nice ol’ strawberry chocolate sundae and a sprinkled galleta cookie, but later on my day sort of went down in flames, or just didn’t end how I would have liked it to. I’m a bit sad, and I hate having this feeling late at night. My night pretty much ended this way thanks to my anxiety and I just feel so ashamed over how I acted. It wasn’t super bad and could have been worse, but it left so many others either mad or disappointed with me.

I’m not trying to sound all “boo-hoo, poor me, oh woe is me” but it’s genuinely how I feel. I feel like I always manage to disappoint someone or some people in ways involving my anxiety, which is just such an awful feeling that is hard to get rid of once you start it. I’m anxious over what will happen to my loved ones, I’m anxious over upsetting people, I’m anxious over death, I’m anxious about my health, and I’m anxious over other stuff like account security, and I just really fear the unknown. I’ve tried to do stuff to keep my anxiety away, like playing games and stuff, but it sometimes just doesn’t feel like enough to end those feelings I have, or it’s just temporary. Sorry if I went on too much, I just really have so much on my mind right now. I’m probably going to start getting a sketch for a drawing done and listening to some Vocaloid music and songs from a few of my favorite games to try to forget what happened, but I feel so sad, anxious and stressed.

Writing is very fun. I have written a ton of essays and haven’t done any on video games, which would be absolutely fun. I can imagine maybe writing a few for some Rare games, maybe doing a deep dive and analysis of some. Writing a Conker essay would probably be fun since the message and story really resonated with me and I’m super passionate about it, plus, some of what I wrote on these forums and comments on this site could be considered essays from how long they are lol.

Still related to writing, I have tried to make original stories, but they either take long and turn out bad, or I don’t have the confidence or time to do it, so most of my writing is left at ideas and concepts and do not get developed any further. I have a hard time coming up with original premises, since whenever I tell anyone of them, they go “hey, your story reminds me of [insert piece of media]” and I just go “I’m not writing this then!” I tried to come up with this Norse story once that was set at a magical school, had four different school classes and the protagonist is sent there to enroll as a student, but after I told my sister about it, she said the premise and the story beats sounded eerily similar to Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The idea of a school with separate classes was something that the game did, and a few of the characters in my story ripped off a bunch of the game’s characters. There was a mobile spinoff, Fire Emblem Heroes, which is themed around Norse mythology, so by accident I plagiarized Fire Emblem by accident and I scrapped the idea entirely out of shame and embarrassment. It still shocks me to this day that I didn’t realize how closely the plot and ideas were to Three Houses as I was writing it. I tried to change the premise of my story, but I gave up since I couldn’t come up with anything that wasn’t generic or stupid. I also tried writing stories about Japanese and Greek myth but I didn’t finish both. I didn’t finish the Japanese one because I thought the plot was too long, and the Greek story because it was too short and underutilized characters I wrote for it.

For the stories I did finish, they were sloppy and had bad writing. I recall making this story set in Ancient China about these three young brothers who get turned into cats by a witch for acting like brats, and they go on a quest to reverse the spell in 24 hours and several other animals join them, but the plot was so generic and I forgot about the 24-hour spell in the story up until the end. I worked on a rewrite of it that was supposed to iron out several flaws with it and that version added in a sister character, but the rewrite was WORSER and didn’t do what it was intended to do, and the sister character was supposed to be a more wiser, mature character but even in the story I wrote her as super unlikeable and she wasn’t even in the story for long. It was a pretty good fumble for me lol.

I write in a single document where I store story ideas I come up with, and I develop them with stuff that pops into my head. Years ago I had a big one tied to an old account, and I think it had somewhere around 50-60 pages, but the story ideas were random, nonsensical and stupid. I lost access to the account 3-4 years ago, so the ideas there are gone permanently. However, I have a new one with at least four stories, one of which I really want to write but I am not confident in how it’ll turn out.

Hope everyone is having a good day. I’m having a bad day so far. I was hoping my morning would be better than last night, but I’m just super annoyed with someone right now and I feel I am always blamed or faulted for things I had nothing to do with, or I sometimes get chosen as a scapegoat, and I’m getting so obsessive again, but people simply telling me to not be obsessive won’t be enough to make me simply snap out of it. It ticks me off so much that whenever I try to have a good day, something pops up that always makes me upset and annoyed.

Starting to feel better now. It's been... a little rough on me, but I'm doing all right now. Also went ahead and played some games during my spare time. Been playing quite a bit of Nintendo World Championships, as well as Splatoon 3, F-Zero 99, and Sonic Origins. I still wanna finish Tears of the Kingdom, too. And more recently, I've been wanting to make a drawing of Mega Man since I have an amiibo of him. Haven't started the drawing yet though. Maybe I'll listen to some Mega Man music while I do my drawing, lol.

@Pastellioli Apologies for the late reply. Just saw your most recent post, sorry to hear it's not going so hot with you. I hope things get better soon. I'm... somewhat similar, oftentimes I don't really pay attention to the lyrics, moreso the melody of the song. Whoa, that sounds a bit messed up, having a happy-sounding tune, with its lyrics being anything but, lol. I like listening to game music a lot, especially from games like Mario Kart, Sonic, Splatoon, and as I just brought up, Mega Man. The music from the Banjo games are nice too. It's not all I listen to though, I listened to some Beatles and Janis Joplin not too long ago, as well.

Same here, my tastes in YouTube videos are pretty similar to yours. I generally like Good Vibes Gaming's stuff, and there's one YouTuber who I like that nobody seems to bring up here, and that's BenjaMage. His game reviews are pretty much on the lighthearted side. He's done a video on how he'd make the next Mario Kart game, as well. Yeah... any of the drama channels you've mentioned, I don't think I'd like too much haha.

@Sunsy Aww, that's awesome. I can't blame you for continually thinking about that Trolls event. Oh that's awesome you got to dance with Poppy! That's cool you got on that wavy slide, I remember liking the spiral slides quite a bit as a kid. I liked swings as well, those were also fun. Oh that's cute, pretending you were being Fox McCloud, lol. Similarly, I used to pretend to be Sonic when I was in one of my gym classes as a kid.

That's cool, looks like show adds some variety in its later seasons. Just starting out with Sofia being a princess. Oh no! That's a shame about your Pinocchio tape. My Beauty and the Beast tape had a similar fate, unfortunately. The tape got caught up in the VCR. I do not want that happening to Cinderella! Or any VHS that I happen to have, for that matter. Ah gotcha. Yep, I am pretty happy that I still have one. I think I'd have my N64 hooked up to our family VCR way back when too. Maybe the SNES as well. I think we only had one TV that was RF only, it was a small Quasar TV. That's cool, I might have Sonic OVA on VHS somewhere, but I don't remember where it ended up.

You mentioned Pinocchio earlier, just wanted to tell you that I rewatched it on Disney+ recently. The original Disney animated one. I still like it. I got real nostalgic seeing the first batch of scenes, and Jiminy Cricket is still as adorable as ever, lol. I'd say he's one of my favorite Disney characters, honestly. Oh that's awesome you got to see Inside Out 2 with your friend. Hopefully the two of you will see more Disney movies in theaters together.

Oh my goodness, best not to use that fund cheat too much, lol. I don't know if The Sims had a similar penalty for its rosebud cheat, I don't recall there being one. I remember cheats being fun to toy around with back in the early 2000s... yeah I don't think built-in cheats are in most games made these days.

Oh absolutely, I think Sonic Adventure 2 came out some months after the Dreamcast went out of production too. The only SA2 commercials I saw as a kid were for the GameCube version. Loved that game as a kid, I used to play it a lot and even finished all the stories way back when. It, along with Sonic Advance and Sonic Mega Collection, started making me huge into Sonic.

Just saw the Trolls news story you showed me. That place looks really cool, and I even saw that you could become Poppy if you wanted to. I wonder if you got to ride Rhonda the caterpillar bus, that also sounds like fun.

@Tyranexx I'm starting to feel a bit better now. Yeah... it is difficult for me to go through moments like these. Life can be a roller coaster of emotions at times. Thank you for your encouraging words... much appreciated. Yeah I can see why you said our brains can lie to us, I can have a difficult time getting rid of negative thoughts and I can be hard on myself sometimes. Playing games have helped with my mental health pretty recently, so that's good. Been playing stuff like Tears of the Kingdom, Tetris (Game Boy version on NSO), F-Zero 99, and more recently, Nintendo World Championships. Watching Disney films have cheered me up as well. Same with reminiscing on my happier times, like my trip to the Knoebels park.

Ah yeah that's a good level for sure... all the DKC games have awesome visuals and music. I remember Slipslide Ride being a tricky level when I first played it, too. That's cool you also got a slice of what the Genesis had to offer. I've not played the games you've mentioned, but I did play the Sega Ages version of OutRun on the Switch. I did play Super Hang-On on the Genesis once or twice though, it was on the 6-Pak cartridge. Perhaps you might also have played that? That's a motorcycle racing game. I remember hearing that Aladdin and The Lion King (both for the Genesis, the latter was also on SNES) were brutally difficult, lol. You'd think they'd be somewhat on the easy side!

Thanks! I did toy around with TTYD's other stuff besides the main adventure, I managed to get all the shine sprites and star pieces. Actually got all of the former before going to the last chapter. Lol, I also attempted the Switch version's new boss, but I was like "nope" after my attempt. Wanted to play other games anyway. Oh man, thank goodness you beat the last boss, that sounded really close.

Ah yeah agreed for sure. I actually have a Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack CD, I can find it and take a picture of it if you want. Found it at my local retro game store some years ago. I've not been to a concert either, but my dad has been to quite a few. I know there's also concerts for game music, Zelda and Sonic as far as I know. I would love to attend a Mario concert in person. Really glad you enjoyed your vacation, looks like it was a great one.

@MarioVillager92 I am feeling a bit sad, but not fully and I am feeling better.

Don’t apologize for replying late! It’s fine. With the genres I listen to, with Japanese music and Vocaloid, it’s very common for song producers to make songs that look happy and sound happy just to have very dark and messed up lyrics. I did stop listening to that song I mentioned where it’s about someone getting shamed and I am listening to other songs, but a few are too dark and have lyrics I don’t like, so I need to stop and listen to other things. There is a theme song to this show they made for the film Megamind called Megamind Rules! which is universally hated for being poorly written and animated, but the theme song is actually really upbeat, catchy, silly and nice, and I have had that song on repeat, so it’s a nice step in the right direction in my attempts to listen to less upsetting and more positive music. Plus, there is this song I was a bit obsessed with called Hai Yorokonde that is so catchy, and I found myself repeating it a ton a few weeks ago.

I absolutely love the VGMs for the Banjo games and Conker’s Bad Fur Day, though the latter does end on a pretty bad and depressing note. The songs for the N64 Banjo games are the best in my opinion, and the one for Conker is really impressive for the N64, since a lot of the songs vary in their moods, tones, and genres. Some are more silly, some are more serious, and some are more eerie. My favorite is probably Windy and Co., which is a really simple and lighthearted sounding song, and Rock Solid, which is an EDM song that slaps a ton, especially the remake’s rendition of the song. Splatoon has amazing VGM too. I honestly prefer a lot of video game music over modern music. Most of the time it doesn’t interest me and I sometimes get sick of it when I hear it on repeat, especially when I go on Instagram and hear the exact same songs over and over again.

On YouTube, I just like watching sort of whatever interests me. Film and television analysis videos, film reviews, video game videos, videos on cancelled video games, art videos and channels, and random meme videos that show up on my recommended feed. I have found myself rewatching film videos recently. I did use to watch videos that document on troubled, hated and controversial individuals and their history and downfall, but those are pretty negative and awful, so I stopped doing so, plus they can get into pretty gross and sickening territory.

@Pastellioli Sounds like the Conker remake at the time got Microsoft'd when it came to the multiplayer. At least when it comes to the generic looks of shooters at the time. I don't think there's any "bad" art style per se; art in general is subjective. Some styles definitely appeal to me more than others, especially if something is really trying to set itself apart from the crowd. I can deal with the realistic stuff, but the problem is sometimes I do feel it's overused. While I'm not a Splatoon fan for example, I appreciate the series going with a completely different look while still keeping popular shooting and turf war elements.

I do like some slapstick comedy a la Tom & Jerry, as well as Looney Tunes. So I probably would like the original incarnation of Conker's Bad Fur Day at least.

@MarioVillager92 No problem. Glad to read you are feeling a little better! At least well enough to belt out a decent size post lol. Some time away and R&R can do wonders. Been wrestling with my own brain lately too. Looks like you've kept pretty busy on the "do something you like" front, which is good. Hope all the games are going well, especially TotK. I ironically dug into Tetris on NSO somewhat recently too. You've been to Knoebels? I've heard that's a good park, can't say I've been to it due to the distance from my whereabouts though.

David Wise certainly deserves plenty of accolades for making the DKC soundtracks so memorable. Though the whole team at Rare back then deserves it all too! Never played any of the Switch Sega Ages games, including Super Hang-On, but I've heard many range from somewhat decent to amazing in quality. Never played it back in the day either. Those two Disney platformers were brutal, with some iffy collision detection and precision platforming IIRC. Supposedly this was a strategy to artificially enhance game length. I just recall I was terrible at Aladdin, and I think I only beat the second level in The Lion King (Those. Friggin'. Giraffes.) once.

I did a lot in TTYD, but not everything. I didn't bother with all the recipes and badges. Later I found the Switch version's new boss requires some crazy precision and advanced button pressing techniques after a point, so I'm glad I gave up that battle of attrition. The last boss was indeed close. Like you, I did want to move on to other games.

That Super Mario Galaxy sound CD sounds like an amazing score! Wasn't that a Club Nintendo reward at one point? Just going off memory as I never used the program until its twilight years. I'd like to get to more video game concerts eventually, but for now I think I'll have to stick with more mainstream music. I'm really tempted to go to a Breaking Benjamin concert that'll be nearby somewhat soon, but sadly it's on a weeknight. Loved my vacation; didn't want to come back!
