@Magician Some fun-looking physics in that there RR prototype - bouncy and yet sometimes not bouncy at all - but it looks like it was shaping up to be a fun racer, so forgive me while I belatedly mourn its loss ...

You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I'm holding off from updating my Switch 1 to the most recent system version, 21.0.1, which came out about three weeks ago. I know it's kind of dumb, but I'm still kind of mad about the new cartridge label that I'm not used to, and I'm just trying to get away with as much as I can. Everything was going perfect, until yesterday, when it would no longer let me enter the NSO application without updating. Now, as of today, it's not letting me do anything save data cloud related.
The thing is, I would like to be able to not update my Switch anymore, especially since my plan is to transfer everything over to a Switch 2 as soon as possible next year and turn my Switch 1 into a completely offline console. I'm also hoping to somehow reduce the version number of my Switch 1 so it doesn't have any of the version 20.0.0 and above features that will be completely worthless. I hear that doing that is only possible with modding. I will have to look into that further.
I assume that doing the complete system transfer from Switch to Switch 2 will transfer all save data, whether it was saved to the cloud or not. Then, on my fully updated Switch 2 (which I will be fine with having all the new updates), everything that wasn't cloud saved should become cloud saved, I think.
Also, a short time after Christmas, I was hoping to change my Switch profile icon to something not as Christmasy. But now I'm locked out of using any of my NSO icons unless I update. So I will now be going to use a built in system icon for the first time in two years. As a matter of fact, I will change it now as an act of defiance. Nintendo is not offering me a few of their NSO services unless I update. I will show Nintendo that I can go without them for a few months. I REFUSE TO UPDATE. Thanks for letting me rant a bit 😀.
I am really p*ssed off about needing to press "start software" two times just to play a freaking game. Thankfully, because I'm busy with Neptunia games on the PS4, I won't be playing much Nintendo stuff until I get my Switch 2.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG

@Haruki_NLI, I know that this update doesn't really change anything, but... the more time goes on, I become scared of updates more and more. Updates keep making changes to the menu layouts that I'm used to on just about all my devices lately.
One example is back in 2024. Early to mid 2024 if I recall correctly. There was an update that happened on my Chromebook. Before that update, the controls menu with the power off buttons had all power off options as seperate buttons. So I could just press "sleep mode" and be done with it. But after the update, I had to start pressing a smaller power button, and then all the power off options would appear. Since then, I have had to press the power symbol, and then the "sleep mode" option that shows up. That's two button presses compared to just one before, therefore that update was an inconvenience to me that I never wanted in the first place, yet it was shoved onto me anyway. I never asked for two button presses. One button press was quick and efficient. Since then, I have refused to manually update my Chromebook out of worry that the updates will change anything else that I'm used to, but I'm pretty sure it just auto-updates a few days later anyway. Thankfully, other than the appearance of Gemini, nothing else has happened to my Chromebook because of updates. Frankly, what I described here was when my update paranoia first started. It started small, but it only got worse.
To name another example, the Virtual Game Cards update for the Switch 1 that came out in April 2025. It added a few new menu options to the home screen as well as changed the color of a few older ones. At this point, my update paranoia was still pretty small, but it did grow a bit larger because of the update. Everything that I knew about the Switch menu for years was... useless. I had to relearn some things. Right after I updated the console, I spent over an hour exploring all of the new menus and the other older menus that also got changes for some stupid reason. My reaction to the Virtual Game Card update wasn't "major freakout" like what happened with the Chromebook, but I was still quite shaken. And this was after I had been quite upset with Nintendo of America since the previous fall for a completely different reason.
The September 2025 for the Switch 1 / 2 was even worse for me. The fact that the cartridge label on the home menu that I was used to was replaced by something really different scared the heck out of me. Sometimes, I still have a * very small and over in just a few seconds* freakout session when I turn on my Switch because of it.
And the Samsung One UI 7 update that was forced on my Samsung Galaxy smartphone this summer made so many annoying changes. To this day, I still have trouble telling what volume I have my phone on because they changed the look of the volume bar to make it look more sloped instead of flat. This was the point when my update paranoia started rapidly increasing.
I've noticed these days that many people my age say they suffer from depression. I don't suffer from depression. What I do suffer from is paranoia about... quite a few things these days.
A few more notes:
My "defiance" is basically just me wanting to have a bit more control over the media and products that I own. This has kind of turned me into a bit of a control freak (the controlling possessions kind, not the controlling people kind).
And, as long as you have a free Nintendo Account (which I already have), you do not need an NSO subscription (which I also have) to do a system transfer. The only thing that NSO does with save data is saving it to the cloud. This information is from the Nintendo Support website.

@Nep-Nep-Freak
The cartridge icon when your games are physical is not something scary.
Instead, it tells which is my physical games and which is my digital games.
Played a couple runs of Nordic Ashes last night. For as much as I've been...increasingly worn out by run-based roguelite games, conversely I have an increasing fondness for ASS (automatic survival shooter) games. The process of finding the right loadout combination to carry you further into a run is the special sauce of the genre. I'm not discouraged by the increasing number of games in the genre ever since Vampire Survivors popped off back in 2021.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,540 games (as of January 28th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
Considering how I went to F Zero 99 for the first time in ages and it had new content, a free game for having NSO, a service I pay 12 bucks a year for the tier that's above the one needed to play it and would easily pay regardless of its existence, and that I've put more than 20 hours into it, which is more than I've put into any other F Zero game, I'd like to declare F Zero 99 as one of the most underrated games on the Switch.
In light of Luigi's Mansion 2, what other 3DS games could you all see being ported to Switch?
For me, I think the top choice would be A Link Between Worlds.
There are quite a few major Nintendo games still exclusive to 3DS, which I imagine will get re-released one day, though how long that will take is anyone's guess (given that Mario Galaxy 2 took 8 years to come to Switch and there's still no Twilight Princess port). ALBW is definitely one of the big ones along with stuff like Fire Emblem Awakening, Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus Uprising, the Kirby games, and Samus Returns. For a more left-field choice I have to wonder if they'll ever try and port Tri Force Heroes or even Federation Force. There may not be enough demand for them but it would be cool to have them playable online again, they'd be good showcases for Game Chat on Switch 2.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Dogorilla Could go either way how they choose to proceed with Twilight Princess. I imagine we'll see something regarding Zelda ports for this year's 40th anniversary.
Tbh, probably the ones I never got on 3DS, like the N64 remakes, Etrian Odyssey 4, Wario Ware Gold, Ever Oasis etc. Only thing making me against it is I already have more than enough of a backlog already.
Speaking of which, maybe I posted this somewhere already but here's my main Switch games I'm certain I will play through before I buy Switch 2: Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, No More Heroes 3, Doom Eternal, Megaman Zero 4, Kirby Star Allies, Captain Toad, the 2D Yooka Laylee game and at least 1 of the 3 upcoming Switch games I plan to buy (Mina, Rhythm Heaven, Tomodachi Life).
Rayman 2 and Majora's Mask on NSO as well.
Maybe Sonic Superstars and Crisis Core too if I have time.
I have a question about HDMI-CEC and a behavior I can’t fully explain.
Setup: • LG G3 OLED • Apple TV 4K • Nintendo Switch • HDMI-CEC (SIMPLINK) enabled on the TV and on all devices
Issue: • When I’m currently using the Apple TV and then press the Home button on the Joy-Con, the TV does not automatically switch back to the HDMI input of the Switch. • I have to change the HDMI input manually on the TV. • For comparison: with a PlayStation, this works perfectly — pressing the PS button immediately switches the LG G3 to the correct HDMI input.
Observations: • The Switch can wake the TV from standby without any issues. • The problem only occurs when the TV is already on and currently showing another HDMI input (Apple TV).
Question: Is this expected behavior / a limitation of the Nintendo Switch’s HDMI-CEC implementation, or is there any setting on the LG G3 or Apple TV that allows the Switch to trigger an automatic HDMI input change in this scenario?
Got the JP-exclusice Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 1 game installed on my Switch with the English patch and English dub from the PS western release patched in also. It's glorious! Also uncapped framerate with overclocking to hit stable 60 fps.
