As we bid farewell to summer and begin the descent towards the holiday season the gaming calendar tends to get clogged with releases, and 2019 is no exception with games coming thick and fast as we speed towards Halloween and beyond. As the evenings draw in and things start getting decidedly spooky outside, what better time to curl up safe and sound with your Switch or Switch Lite and play a video game or two of an evening!
September saw the release of the marvellous Daemon X Machina and equally lovely The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening which will no doubt keep us busy for a good few weeks yet... but what's next for Switch? We've compiled a list of all the good stuff coming out at retail in October, November (and a bit beyond), and highlighted some of the big ones to look out for. So, give that bank balance a massage and prepare for new games and hardware...

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition - 15th October
The latest 'impossible' port to arrive on your favourite handheld hybrid (and Switch Lite), The Witcher 3 (or 'Switcher' to its friends) promises all the action, adventure and bathing of the original game only this time you can play on the bus. Squeezing such an ambitious open world game onto Nintendo's handheld was no small feat, and we're itching to see how it's turned out.
Ring Fit Adventure - 18th October
Time to jump around like it's 2008 again! Ring Fit Adventure is a new type of adventure game coming to Nintendo Switch, which uses the Ring-Con accessory to detect and measure the player's real-world movements and turn them into in-game actions. It promises RPG-style turn-based battles, except you cause massive damage with your toned glutes and rippling quads instead of spamming a button. We're intrigued to see how this (and our energy levels) hold up, and if we can fit our entire body through the ring. We've seen people on the telly squeeze through toilet seats, and they're not even bendy!*
*This is a joke. Do not try squeezing yourself through the Ring-Con. Thank you.
Luigi's Mansion 3 - 31st October
Back for another round of ghostbustin', Luigi once again straps on his Poltergust to vacuum spooks, spectres and ghosts in Luigi's Mansion 3, which arrives on the spookiest day of the year. The title is actually something of a misnomer - this time round the 'mansion' is actually a huge hotel, although it's not like one we've ever stayed in. Each floor has an entirely different theme and it's up to Luigi to negotiate the lot as he rescues his friends from King Boo once again.
This time around a second player can join in the fun in co-op mode, and there's online play for up to eight players, so there's no excuses for spending the scariest night of the year alone.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020 - 5th November
The Mario & Sonic games have always offered some very enjoyable friendly competition featuring the kings of their respective gaming companies, and this year's entry (well, technically next year's entry) promises to be the best yet. Featuring a whole bunch of cross-discipline events, a new retro mode will enable 8-bit Mario and 16-bit Sonic to go head to head in a competition that's sure to excite retro gamers in a way the past games perhaps haven't. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Pokémon Sword and Shield - 15th November
What's this? Poké-mon is it? Am I saying that right? Not sure about this one, but apparently it's a big deal. We imagine tiny pocket-sized monsters do battle in suits of armour in a faux-Medieval setting. Sort of like Game of Thrones, then, although a little more family-friendly. There are two games and the one you buy says a great deal about your personality, we believe. We're not sure what buying both means. Maybe you've got lots of disposable income?
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in October and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
We saw a whole slew of interesting accessories released for the Switch in the past few months, but more are on the way, especially with the arrival of Switch Lite. Here are some tantalising accessories coming up in October and beyond, which we found for your consideration.
So that's it for October and November - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've pre-ordered any of these goodies!

Likely play Luigi's Mansion co-op with a friend who's getting the game.
Looking forward to Pokemon Shield.
Otherwise not a whole lot that interests me. Glad I have literally hundreds of games on my Switch to tide me over to 2020.
Another flipping coming soon article? I know we all love affiliate links but can you ease off? I'm getting sick of seeing Luigi's face.
Holy crap, Gun Gun Pixies is $60?!
So many expensive Switch games, lately!
Forgot how badly I want ESP Ra.De. on my Switch. Here’s hoping for Deathsmiles and Dodonpachi Resurrection, too! Gotta love Cave.
Doom eternal ???
Joycons all neon green ???
@DockEllisD : Eew. It's by Big Ben.
I've already got a bunch of these pre-ordered from the likes of Play-asia and 365games, including Pokémon Sword and Shield dual edition, Dragon Quest I+II+III, Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Luigi's Mansion 3, A Hat in Time, Forager, Wargroove, New Super Lucky's Tale, and Final Fantasy VII & VIII double pack. Also some stuff not listed like Furwind, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends Special Edition, and Bee Simulator.
If you're looking to get either the Dragon Quest for Final Fantasy packs of games, 365Games has them, they import the stock to the UK and ship them domestically, so you don't have to worry about international shipping charges or waiting times.
Don't think it was in the list but i just preordered Ghostbusters remastered from gamestop yesterday. Didn't play the original so im excited to see what all the fuss is about. The rest of October is looking like LM3 for sure, playing through ori, and there's about 3 or 4 maybes(almost for sures) on my list. Yooka Laylee, Disney classic games Aladdin/ lion king, with a hat in time, into the dead 2, and re triple pack coming as least likely but still a possibility. I think this month will hit me even harder than September did.
Edit: I will be getting the witcher 3 but in november/ December when things slow down.
Ghostbusters! October 4th £24
Sniper elite 3 £29
Everything cost so much on the nintendo switch everything is so overpriced even for old games that have been out years on older systems.
I can’t believe people are ignoring the obvious GOTY on this list. The Unicorn Princess...
I want to play Luigi's Mansion 3, but I haven't played the other two games in the series. Does anyone with more knowledge on this franchise know if I need to play the previous two entries to understand this one, or can I jump into it blind and understand what's going on?
Three games to get physically:
Three games to get Digitally:
The other set of three for Christmas:
Three more games I am keeping my eyes out for in 2020:
Three Games I want on Switch:
Hat in Time, Yooka Laylee, and Luigi's Mansion. Lots of great games I'll be getting!
Luigi's Mansion 3 is a must buy. I'm also looking at getting Neo Cab, Asphalt 9 and Resident Evil 5.
Woah - we are only 45 days from Pokémon (I really hope it doesn’t disappoint like Sun/Moon did for me).
Also getting A Hat in Time and Super Lucky’s Tale this holiday season.
@DockEllisD : Neither have I, but I was just being facetious, suggesting that the developer/publisher was more off-putting than the game itself.
@RupeeClock holy cow I wish I had as much disposable income as you! That lot should keep you going till March 🙂
There are so many good games on the Switch. I love the console more than any other I've ever had, genuinely, and I enjoy gaming so much on it, but there is a small part of me that's sad knowing I will never get to play probably 90% of the games coming out for it now. When you throw in the indies, I've never known a console accumulate such a big library so quickly.
@BorderlineJon
It's actually become a problem that I'm buying games more quickly than I'm able to play them.
But there'll hopefully come a time when I can actually begin playing my library of games, who knows when, but I'll have them.
Coincidentally, New Super Lucky's Tale, the European version, just went up for pre-order on 365 Games, so I hopped on that.

It feels like it might be coming out later than the US version, but that's fine.
Nothing really for me but will be getting a few of those for the family. Lots of diversity there though, Switch is really hitting its stride!
Is Call of Cthulhu any good?
Luigi’s Mansion 3 and A Hat in Time please
So hyper for luigi!!!
I've said it before but I'm so looking forward to Luigi's Mansion 3. Otherwise I'll merely get Ring Fit Adventure and Pokémon Sword/Shield. Somehow the entire year's been rather light in terms of notable releases for me with a whopping three games (Yoshi, Luigi, Pokémon) but at least it means I get to make some progress with my backlog.
... Let's pretend I am not drowning in said backlog.
Luigi's Mansion 3 and Doom Eternal for sure!
Only big thing (for me at least) that's missing here is "Where the Water Tastes Like Wine"! Not too surprised, though, considering how not a soul has mentioned it, including the devs themselves, it seems!
For a brief rundown, WtWTLW was originally released on Steam & apparently flopped. The games a sorta strange mix of Choose-Your-Own-Adventure & walking simulator, with you going around a Depression-era U.S. collecting folk tales to share with others. As a lover of both folklore and tales about tales, I instantly loved this game, though I can see some people getting bored with all of the walking involved, though I hear some things have been improved since.
Whatever you guys think of it, though, I'm mighty glad to see I can play it on the go!
Isn't Doom Eternal slated for Nov 22?
According to Nintendo Life Daemon x Machina is just as "lovely" as Link's Awakening..."please buy every game from our Amazon affiliate links!"
Yep, I'll be trying to squeeze through a Ring-Con now.
As good as these games are for one I am holding off Digimon and Pokemon for another game. And two I am pretty much done getting the games I want to play. So yeah...😊
Luigi's Mansion 3, doom eternal, re triple pack, Mario & sonic, sword & shield. there is suppose to be a syberia triple pack as well, but I do not know if it is coming to north America.
I'm seeing some Christmas gifts for family. Finally the green JCs that I've been wanting from the beginning. I just finished my annual play-through of Half-Life 2 (via Steam). If you haven't ever played it, you owe to yourself. It's an older FPS, but stands up well even now. As older ports go, I'd rather play it on switch than any of Doom 1 or 2.
In any case, lots of interesting stuff on the list. Should be something for everyone.
Have decided to pre-order Pokemon Sword. Think it might be the first Pokemon game I've pre-ordered in a long time. It will be fun to play on the big screen for a change.
Still interested in Ring Fit Adventure, Aladdin and Lion King, Luigi's Mansion and Super Lucky's Tale but I'll decide on those as the month goes on. Have plenty of games to keep me busy in the meantime.
Maybe I'm just losing interest video games in general, but almost none of these really catch my eye, even the popular ones. I never cared much for Pokémon games of any sort, I found the first Luigi's Mansion game quite boring, and the olympic Sonic and Mario games only make me wish those characters had their crossovers in action-adventure games.
Pokemon, Luigi, Overwatch and the Witcher for me. I was considering Yu-No but the anime has turned me off to it. The anime went down the drain so hard... But I want to support more VNs getting localized, so I am conflicted.
Those green joy-cons are nice, are they the same green as the Splatoon green? If so I might have to pick up one somewhere.
I really like the blue and purple too, but I am really annoyed that they are not symmetrical sets. I'd really love purple and black joycons! If the blue was a little darker it would be nice too. But not buying either if they are only left side...
@RupeeClock me too. It is hard for me to justify buying games anymore. I might cave in with LM3 or the ring adventure....
Day one for that Switcher 3! Can't wait!
By the way, any news about Doom Eternal?
@DrDaisy And what about Witcher? It's one of the best games you can find in any current system.
Looking forward to stranded sails, didn't see that on the list
@the_beaver I tried it on Xbox One. It was okay, but it didn't keep me interested. Like I said, I might just be losing interest in video games. That happens sometimes. I'm also going through severe bouts of depression lately so that might have something to do with it.
@RupeeClock yeah I've had that problem myself for a long time. As a PS3 and PS4 owner my backlog spans two generations! Plus all the retro stuff I've missed. Seriously, as far as Switch is concerned I have around 170 games due to some of the insane sales that I've picked up from...my 200GB card just got filled up the other day. But as you said, I have them and will get around to them. The library for the Switch is outstanding and the only genre I feel there could and should have better games for is the racing genre.
