A fresh batch of screens from the upcoming Switch version of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen have cropped up on 4gamer, and we have to say they look rather nice. Capcom ported the original game to PS4 and Xbox One in 2017, and while we're not expecting the kind of fidelity those more powerful consoles can provide, Switch is capable of much more than the platforms it originally launched on back in 2012 (or 2013 for the enhanced Dark Arisen edition), so we've got high hopes.
From the look of these screens, we may be in for a treat:
Lovely, no? While it's probably best to temper expectations, releases like Dark Souls: Remastered showed that games of this vintage can still scrub up well on Switch, even if they're missing some of the visual bells and whistles from their larger home console brethren. There are more shots over at 4gamer, so do pop over there and take a gander.
Think these shots will be representative of the final product them the game launches? Were you expecting better? Drop us a line below.

When is this coming out, would have thought there would have been a release date given yesterday.
I never played the original and this has grabbed my attention so will definitely be buying this. My poor wallet
Even the PS4 version wasn't super incredible in terms of looks, so I think the Switch version will be fine. Can't wait til this comes out.
Looks good from what I've seen. Must resist, for now...
This game has also amazing soundtracks. Music is just great! You'll all love it!
@Welshland We already have a release date, 23rd April 2019
I heard this game is a lot of fun. Missed the original. Wow.... I love my Switch, so many second chances
Oooh dragons and mythical creatures galore! I haven’t played this but these shots have my attention....
@ArcanineArco
Thanks for the heads up, will pick this up before my holiday, will have something tasty to sink my teeth into on the flight
All I see is hours of my life going bye bye.
Scrolling quickly past that fourth shot in the list, I caught myself going back to check if they had put a Samus costume in the game. Phew. -_-;;
The game was never that graphically impressive anyway, as long as the framerate's solid it's a must have
Day uno purchase!
Nice. I had forgotten about this one.
Since this was announced I had no idea what it was, but I'm pretty obsessed now. Have watched plenty of reviews and Let's Plays and it looks awesome. A weird mix of Witcher, Dark Souls, and Dragon Age. A day one purchase for me, only $29.99
Hey I am game for it. Got the Collectors version if I recall for preorder.
In my list to rent from GameFly and looking forward to it.
I cannot wait for this!
Dragon's Dogma is a phenomenal game. I'm happy that Nintendo exclusive gamers can finally have a shot at it ^^ Also, remember that the game doesn't end with the ending. That's when it truly begins The phenomenal expansion dungeon (Bitterblack Isle) and rushing through the NG+ while knowing the revelations of the ending are the highlight of the game imo
@daebiya I don't think you will regret your purchase!
The important thing is, aside of it being an awesome, refreshing unique experience, is that it will probably sell really well on the Switch and, thus, force Capcom to consider a sequel in full the next time a dilemma comes up about what to develop next.
I would have gladly taken a sequel over a new Devil May Cry, but that game does look cool.
Oh and btw, those screens look amazing for a handheld game! I’m skeptical if that fidelity can actually be achieved at solid framerates, but then, the original game had some problems with stuttering too.
The characters faces look so ugly, i hate that Capcom went with a westernized look for this otherwise excellent game.
Kinda reminds of Witcher 3... I hope that one gets ported to the Switch as well.
