The Yo-kai Watch series may not have hit the sales heights in the West that it regularly achieves in Japan, but it has been building a fanbase nonetheless. Localisation has been a little slow, however, and North America is often getting titles ahead of the PAL market.
That may end up being the case again with Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters, which is due out on 3DS in North America in the Fall season. This is the third entry in the '2' cycle, with the following PR pitch for what it has to offer.
Whether players missed it the first time or want to fall in love again, the definitive version of YO-KAI Watch 2 is here! The YO-KAI WATCH 2: Psychic Specters game delivers the same full YO-KAI WATCH 2 experience, but adds new Yo-kai to befriend, exclusive quests and the ability to hop on the Hexpress to a new resort area. Players can even befriend Wicked and Boss Yo-kai from previous games, learn about the origin of the mysterious feline Yo-kai, Darknyan, and experience a revamped Blasters co-op mode to beat powerful new bosses.

Hm... looks different with previous Yokai Watch 2.
I feel they should have just released one complete version of this game in the west, i will hold off for this version whenever it releases in the UK, still haven't played the first game yet lol
Great timing considering that I was starting to contemplate which version to get. I think I'll just wait for this one now that I know it's getting localized.
Whoaaa...I'm sooo happy I waited on picking up the sequel! Just because of the new -nyan yokai.
I don't think that the Yo-kai Watch brand is big enough to warrant a dual-version release outside of Japan let alone a third version. Not even Pokémon is doing it anymore (the last "third version" was Platinum in 2008 [Japan]), and that's a monster franchise (no pun intended).
I would imagine that this will be released in Australia/New Zealand at around the same time as the American release, as Yo-kai Watch is one of very, very few franchises where the Australian release does not follow the European release schedule.
Huh never bought Yo-Kai Watch 2 but enjoyed Yo-kai Watch, might finally buy 2.
Much as I'm loving YKW2, by the time I'm ready to play a new one YK3 should be out.
Yes I think a complete version would be the better way to go.
I have watched yokai watch with my little brother, I can't say it gripped me the way Pokémon did growing up at all, but it's ok. I have yet to play any of the games, I might grab one on sale , and the switch is my console of choice for this type of game. I'll monitor the game and how it plays.
I am going to buy this. Yay!
Originally bought Bony Spirits at launch and just got Fleshy Souls a couple weeks ago so I could link the games. Looks like I'll be triple-dipping.
I just want to point out that Yokai Watch 2 was an outlier in the series. The series was a "fad" to a extent in that it couldn't maintain its mega popularity for long
It did a lot more than the first in Japan and a lot more than the third as well. The first did 1.29 million in Japan. The second did over 3.1 million(in the first game. The third version did another 3 million or so)
But the third dropped to about the same as the first at 1.37 million.
The first Yokai Watch actually has sold faster in Europe than Japan. As of December 31st it's at 700K which is more than first did In Japan in the same length of time after release.
As for America it's somewhere around 400K as of June 10th 2016. Notably slower than Europe but hardly bad. No updates on American sales since.
I ended up not getting YW2 because my backlog at the time and annoyance over preorder exclusive content but I will probably get this enhanced Version.
Is there a Ghost-Dragon Type Legendary in this one, that takes you to the Distortion World?
Well the game looks alright but still got to buy the first one or does that not really matter to figure out the story?
Ooooh, so this is why NOE pushed the other two versions in the direct, gotta admit they almost tempted me to buy, but now that I know a "complete" version exist I'll just wait and risk to see if it gets released here too ^_^;
In that case, I'll just wait for this to reach Europe instead of trying to decide which of the other Yo-Kai 2 versions to get.
Definitely going to get this, as soon as I decide to go back and play the first one I started and not finished due to reasons.
Bad timing announcing this less than a week after Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls released in Europe, a lot of people will probably wait for this instead now.
Some segments of the trailer reminded me of Miyazaki film. This game does interest me from the art style. Im not sure how the combat is since I haven't really played the first game in the series.
This is great news for me, since I'm european and didnt get a copy of either fleshy souls bony spirits and might import one from AUS. On that note, can some recomend a AUS site that ships to Europe?
They need to just bring out a modified version of the Sukiyaki (the definitive 3rd game) that has a bit more content from Tempura and Sushi so the rest of the world can catch up. Why buy this series when you know you are several games behind?
yes! I'm very glad that I skipped the dual version ****!
Sad for the people who bought.
This would be the choice for a YW game for me but I will wait well past the release date for a $20-25 sale. Gonna do the same with Monster XX (if it gets localised).
@Arnold-Kage The story of the first game has no significant links to this one.
I have skipped all of the YoKai games so far. I willw ait to see reviews before making a decision on this one.
@CaptainRainbow Give the demo a try! Beware, tho...you may reeeally not like the battle system at first (I sure didn't) since you're not directly controlling the yo-kai (except to do special moves). Since each character has a different specialty (attacking, healing, blocking, buffs and de-buffs), your job during a battle is to send out the right yo-kai at the right time. If there's a downside, it's that the game is somewhat easy (especially if you do any grinding).
Much different than your standard RPG and definitely recommended!
@TimeGuy
Thanks for the info
Might have to pass on this one as I already played Fleshy Souls. Wish they just localized this version instead of 2 versions + 3rd complete. Hoping they just go for the 3rd version of Yokai Watch 3 if that gets localized.
Okay. Them doing this excites me so that means that I'll finally be buying the games... I didn't want to choose between two different versions but if they put them all into one then I'm cool with that.
@Arnold-Kage 1st one is completely irreverent to the second and would most likely leave a bad impression in the series. As someone who loves these games I absolutely hate the first one after playing 2.
@ruimst play-Asia would probably have it when it's up for pre-order
@Arywnn1245
Alright thanks for the info
