Slowly and surely, heading towards its third release in Japan, HAL Laboratory's BOXBOY! series continues to gain fans and momentum. Though a Western release is yet to be confirmed, early February will see the release of Goodbye! BOXBOY! in Japan, known locally as Sayonara! BOXBOY!, with a physical retail edition on the way that includes a Qbby amiibo.
An extended showcase for the release gives a good look at more features on the way, such as a Game Boy screen filter and rather neat amiibo support for Kirby characters, fitting in HAL's most famous franchises.
As you can see below, all of these characters are rather charming.
It'll be interesting to see whether an amiibo / retail edition of this one comes to the West, or whether Nintendo will stick to low-price download for the IP; whatever the case, it should be another charming entry in the series.

Huh ??
Hm...
But still not interested with so.... Qubism style of graphic.
I'm holding out hope for a physical release of all three and the amiibo, BoxBoy has been a gem this gen.
Does the game's naming mean they are ending BoxBoy?
Has anyone confirmed/deconfirmed this?
Hopefully calling it "Goodbye Boxboy" doesn't mean this series will never be revisited. The first two games are phenomenal and I'm sure the third will be just as good.
I really hope they're bringing this physical release h here, it would be a nice addition to my collection, besides that amiibo is just cute. The 3DS is on fire on its seventh year of life, amazing handheld!
Oh, I thought this was snipperclips lol
The DeDeDe one is perfect.
The trailer hurts me. Whoever was playing had so many times where they could have been more efficent!
Amiibo have ruined my life.
Darn, now I gotta get me a Waddle Dee amiibo
Hmm, wonder if you could recreate this game in Minecraft? Not really into Amiibo though. MIght pick up a couple of Animal Crossing Amiibo however... a super-cute Isabelle could brighten up a shelf.
Wait-what?
I'm hoping this gets a western release. Never played any of them but I'm a sucker for retail releases especially where there's amiibo in the mix
Posture, Qbby. Posture.
Will this be coming to switch as well?
totally want a physical copy!!
not sure it will happen in the west, but the amiibo makes it slightly more likely?!
@Bobb no it does not because the fourth game is called The Return of BOXBOY!
@Gregory123 I can't tell if you are joking or not, but I'd like that
Does this only work with the Kirby set or will smash Kirby, meta knight, and dedede work?
Yesss! They need to keep this amiibo stuff up. There are so many awesome missed opportunities for cool amiibo use like this
Sees DeDeDe. Buys a thousand copies of Boxboy
@Roam85 So far it doesn't matter which version of a character you have in games like Mario Kart or Hyrule Warriors so I am pretty sure it will be the same here.
Get it ported onto the Switch eShop asap. In fact, get as many frikin' games from past Nintendo consoles on the Switch eShop/VC asap, particularly recent ones from 3DS and Wii U (but also NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, Game & Watch, Game Boy, Virtual Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and DS). Switch needs to have everything humanly possible on there—talking about first party games here at the very least—particularly when it's clear the big AAA third party support already isn't there once again, and likely won't be once again.
Seriously, Nintendo, it's all in your hands to give this thing the best possible chance at success . . . or not. . . .
PS. That amiibo and those skins for Goodbye! BOXBOY! are cool.
Liked boxboy 1 way more than boxboy 2, but the kirbs always turns things into a must-buy
I imagine the Kirby-themed Smash amiibo would also work.
I really hope we get the whole boxed edition over here. Really love the BOXBOY series and a Qbby Amiibo would take pride of place in my collection
Well, BOXBOY 1 and 2 were easily some of the best games on the eShop, definitely buying this trilogy if it comes to the west in physical form. If not, still downloading the third game.
@countzero Oh, I thought you couldn't use the Kirby Smash amiibo in planet robobot.
