The 3DS library covers a broad range of genres and game styles, and includes some gems that may be considered 'niche' in some respects yet find success on the portable. Two examples are Story of Seasons and Rune Factory 4, which have hit solid sales landmarks in North America.
Publisher XSEED Games has confirmed that Story of Seasons has sold more than 150,000 copies in North America, with Rune Factory 4 passing 200,000 copies in the same region. To celebrate the landmark both have received a permanent price cut to $29.99, a $10 discount on each.
The publisher has also shown off the 'loveable capybara "pocket plushie"', which is 3.5" tall and will come with pre-orders of Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns from participating stores in North America.
At the moment Trio of Towns is slated for release in the region in early 2017; we went hands on with it at E3 and also spoke to its Head of Development Yoshifumi Hashimoto, and think it's shaping up rather well.
Are you tempted by either the discounted releases or the upcoming Trio of Towns? Let us know in the comments.

That's awesome! Loved these games, hopefully more people will give them a shot thanks to the price drop. Looking forward to Trio of Towns in 2017.
Amazing! My poor humanity can finally get Rune Factory 4!
I won't have money to buy food for a week but there's hunting for that.... Hide your pets, guys.
Definitely will be getting Rune Factory 4 although I wonder what we will be charged in Canada for them.
I've been waiting on Rune Factory 4 a long time (should have bought that instead of Fantasy Life), maybe I'll get to grab a copy now.
I wonder how many sales they lost due to having lost the Harvest Moon naming rights.
ouch, And I bought RF 4 for my birthday in august =/
bah, no complaining, the games sure has some annoying things, but so far I love it as much as I thought I would.
I bought Rune Factory 4 a couple of weeks ago at GameStop for $31. So no big deal there. Plus, I get it in physical form. I'm liking what I'm playing so far.
Cute plushie, but never been much of a Harvest Moon fan.
I highly recommend Rune Factory 4 and really it is an excellent jumping on point for the series even though I believe it is also the last. I couldn't put it down until I had over 50 hours put into the game, and even then I did so reluctantly, it really is that good of a game!
...Still hoping a Rune Factory 5 will happen at some point. TwT
I want a tiny brown hippo
May try Rune Factory 4. We'll see.
Um...for some reasons, I don't really like the character design of the latest three : A New Beginning, Story of Seasons and Trio of Towns. I miss Save the Homeland or Magical Melody art style. I don't like Moe, Bishojo, Bishonen, Ikemen looking especially Rune Factory with "dead" eyes looking characters. I like Sporty looking male characters with athletic or muscular body, nice short haircut, nice looking outfit and good / interesting personality (Owen and Gray from Tree of Tranquility, Kurt / Blue / Basil from Magical Melody). For female characters, as long not Moe or Weirdo looking, i'm fine with them.
150,000 copies?
oh well, not trying to be not cool, but that low sales!! But, very good for them, and, well, they are very "happy" for it and, I repeat, very good for them, I hope continued the success and the support and to wait for the next Harve ... ahem, Story of Seasons and Rune Factory! ^.^
I got Rune Factory 4 near launch at full price, but I don't mind paying the extra since I've logged a lot of hours in the game already
Price cut for Story of Seasons is pretty tempting, but I may skip and go for Trio of Towns
The capybara is the adorable and chill peacekeeper of the animal kingdom. Soooo preordering this.
@Tasuki Ironically they may gain some for Natsume's glorious mishandling of the IP.
@TheLZdragon That may be true.
