Nintendo Greece Scores Bonus Points With Super Mario Flashmob
Posted by Damien McFerran
Worthy of the warp zone
We've seen a few flashmobs in our time, but this has to rank as one of the best. Nintendo Greece confused, befuddled and ultimately delighted hordes of shoppers by holding a get-together of Super Marios in a shopping centre.
The plumbers gleefully paraded around the various stores, drawing smiles from the assembled crowds.
The stunt was to promote the forthcoming launch of the Wii U console in Europe, along with - you've guessed it - New Super Mario Bros. U.

Looks like that took some organizing.

Angela Merkel was probably watching this in horror as Greece spends its money on Wii Us instead of its massive debt!

I kept waiting for something to happen, a dance routine or something... nothing ever did. Okay. No, I don't think this qualifies as "one of the best" flashmobs ever.

That was hilariously awesome! I wonder if most of the people there knew who Mario was?

If I lived in Athens, Greece I would've gone as Luigi just to see what all the Marios did.

This is very obviously NOT a flashmob but an orchestrated and professional publicity stunt. They are all about the same age (no kids) wearing exactly the same costume and have obviously been hired for the job.

@Mk_II Can a flashmob not be used as a publicity stunt by definition?
