Nintendo's European Release Schedule Offers Few Surprises

Posted by James Newton

Unless you love Scooby-Doo

The news of Last Window: The Secret of Cape West heading to Europe is just one nugget from the latest Nintendo Europe press release outlining its schedule from now until the end of September. While this means that there's no sight of its big 2010 titles like Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, it's not all doom and gloom: Grease is coming, guys!

Disney Interactive Studios is still heavily supporting both formats, equalling Nintendo with seven games across Wii and DS. Vague windows for Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, plus Last Window, Face Training and Tetris Party Deluxe add up to a busy September, but the schedule is disappointingly light on DSiWare and WiiWare games. THQ will be bringing downloadable versions of The Last Airbender to both platforms, but there's no sight of such big titles as Super Meat Boy, Worms Battle Islands, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, And Yet It Moves or any other highly-anticipated games, of which there are plenty.

There is one surprise download date, however – scroll to the bottom and you'll see 16-Shot! Shooting Watch scheduled for a Q3 release, despite being available already.

Here's the full schedule for you to digest and discuss.

Gunblade New York/LA Machineguns! I'm excited for that title, especially since it should retail for a mere $30

You know I'm actually looking forward to new Nintendo games just so I can get enough stars to bag a copy of Game & Watch for the DS via Club Nintendo; surely something besides Metroid: Other M is on the way - Flingsmash at least?

NOE does list FlingSmash as a summer release, I just expect there's no firm launch date yet. Hopefully we'll get one in the next few weeks.

@Relevant Latty The only place I see the word "skies" mentioned here is as part of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinel of the Starry Skies.

Except for MP Other M for the Wii, nothing there for me. I thought Shaun White Skateboarding was out in Sept? Sonic Colours? I'd be interested to see how LOTR AQ turns out.

Prof Layton 3 DS is an insta-buy as much as Other M

I do like the look of A Shadows Tale a lot. Its hardly a thrilling line up though is it? The Official Nintendo Magazine is really struggling to find anything to review at all at the minute, the last few I've bought have only had a couple of games reviewed. So sad. I bought a PS3 but my current Wii collection has kept me too captivated. I just hope when I exhust my collection there's still some new games being released.

I nearly said excepting Disney, but I'm cautiously optemistic about that new Mouse one...!
