Topic: So no Gamecube VC on Wii U?

Since Gamecube VC wasn't mentioned, does it mean it's not coming? Could it be one of the other VC platforms coming later to Wii U VC?

As I've been saying for awhile, Nintendo hasn't confirmed anything, people sorta started assuming it was a thing. It's possible we'll see it later on but don't expect anything soon.

I'm wondering if Nintendo is thinking about going the HD remastered route, ala Wind Waker, for Gamecube titles for now.

I doubt this will be the only HD remastered GCN game, but they're doing more than polishing Wind Waker, they're rebuilding it from the ground up. I can't imagine them doing a large number of these, and they probably will only be first party. As such, I wouldn't rule out GCN VC games, but I also wouldn't assume they will either. It's really just a wait and see, I suppose.

@ShadJV Yeah, it looks like a lot more than just an HD GameCube game. It looks like a full blown remake. I'm even hoping for extra content.

I am certainly hoping for it. There is some games I would like to play again or play for the first time.
Here is a list of games I have played and I want to play again:
Metroid Prime 1 and 2
Super Mario Sunshine
Chibi-Robo: Plug-In Adventure
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Here are some games I would like to play:
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Luigi's Mansion
Smash Bros. Melee
Lego Star Wars: Episode 2

It would be disappointing if Nintendo left the Gamecube games in their graves. I hope Nintendo will revive them.

Wait I have an idea, what if Nintendo made Metroid Prime HD. Imagine the amazing graphics and awesome gamepad abilities! I hope that will happen, and if it does, I hope has double the popularity that the original MP had.

Oh I hope so. I would rather them remake their more ambitious games that could actually benefit from HD. Wind Waker was the perfect choice, I would also pick Sunshine. I'd like to have Double Dash, Prime 1, 2, 3, Chibi Robo, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Melee, etc., on the VC.

Looking for some 3DS and Wii U friends. PM me if interested!

dont forget it would take a lot more CPU oomph to emulate the NGC than the SNES or NES.

I think GameCube will come with time. Wii has way more platforms then when it Launched

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I'm more interested in Arcade or PC Engine/TG-16 games myself, but just because they didn't say anything about it doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

Whatever gets me Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 is the route I'll take.

Judging by how they handled the new Zelda announcement and used Wind Waker HD to keep us busy until it comes out, chances are they'll remake some of the more popular titles in HD for the same purpose. Super Mario Sunshine I suspect will fall in this category, since I doubt their new 3D Mario game has progressed that far along yet.

We're more likely to get the more obscure titles if the Gamecube VC comes out. Some titles might not even show up due to their peculiarities like Four Swords Adventure or FF: Crystal Chronicles. I guess they could always split the Gamepad screen into 4 to compensate for this since it wouldn't be rendering much in those cases.

wave race blue storm and 1080 avalanche would look amazing in HD, but i doubt that nintendo would remake those two.
double dash would be cool, especially if it had online.

Would imagine some of the gamecube games are destined for HD release which I am all for, but having the less popular titles on e-shop seems a no brainer

I'm pretty sure Wind Waker will be the only one remade from the ground up. They might go the PS2 HD collection route and update the current visuals and sound, while being mapped to the Pro controller as VC games, but don't expect more than that. I honestly hate remakes unless it's appropriate.
