Bounty Hunter mode was a great online mode ! I actually liked the ASE in the original. While the first disappointed in a lot of areas to me it was still an average to good game. It was a good place to start with the potential to build upon. Hopefully they fix the loading into walls

@Sean007s Cool icon.

While that is some nice information that definitely can get people HYPED (!!!), that's the big game that Nintendo Power announced? Didn't they promise a game that "You Would Have to Trade In Your 'Nintendo Fan Club' Membership Card if You Didn't See First"? WOW, is Nintendo Power's marketing way off!

Looks like my teaser thread is debunked now

Hopefully the story is more fleshed out and there are no more online glitches.

Looks cool, Conduit=Stargate.. but I don't see the words "Wii exclusive?" except this: "WiiSpeak support" I guess.. this makes me real happy. probably 2011? making next year still strong for wii with a great title already. then again, with HVS you never know if they will actually release the game!! hoping they retained voice acting etc.

So ends a saga older than time itself.
The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation
is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the
field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot

Sounds pretty good, but I hope they expand more on the story. The single player in the first one was kinda of weak and it started getting good towards the end, but the game just abruptly ends with Ford and Prometheus escaping through a Conduit and you finding out that Adams is really an alien exile named Enlil who has been on Earth for 240 years and that the invasion of Earth has just begun. Also, the levels in the single player were really boring and monotonous. It was cool being able to travel around to famous locations in Washington and the graphics were good, but that was basically it. There was nothing special about the levels and the missions were repetitive such as reach the goal or destroy all the conduits. What the game needs and I'm glad they are doing it for the sequel is epic boss fights. That would have broken up the monotony of the game. Also, it's good that they are expanding on the idea of the ASE and the suit. The ASE wasn't really all that special. All it did was detect hidden mines or hidden nodes(used to unlock locks). The secret messages were pointless because you had to research them to understand their meaning and they didn't really play a big part in the game. The only really useful thing the ASE did was find hidden weapon caches that had really good weapons that could only be used in single player. Where the game really shined was in it's online, but even then it had problems. The major problem was spawning into a wall when you entered your first online match. You couldn't do anything. You had to basically sit there and wait or restart your system. Also, the online had quite a few bugs and not to mention the hackers. If HVS can fix these problems, then they could have a really good sequel instead of just an average FPS. I really want to see HVS succeed.

Sounds good, hopefully the Wii Speak problems and online issues with the original will be fixed in the sequel. Which reminds me that I need to finish the story mode in The Conduit one of these days.

I wasn't very interested in the 1st part due to the lack of multiplayer.
Now I am interested in this one!

Sounds good. I don't really care about story in games like this so I'd them rather just focus on gameplay. It is nice that they are going to focus more on art. They just need to make sure there are no glitches and it should be really good. The conduit was a good game and a great starting point its just that it was fairly basic compared to other big name fps games. This should be good unless they really screw things up.

What would be cool is if they added a map editor similar to what you find in Timesplitters 2 and you could use if for your splitscreen modes.

It's about time, I would of been pretty upset if we were just left hanging after the [abrupt] ending in the first one.

No.

brandonbwii

Wow! Positive things said about the game. I'm a bit surprised. I do think that the first one was more of a tech demo for HVS to see how well that could get an engine and online running. Now they get to focus on other things. The pulse rifle thing scares me for online play as anything that shoots through walls sounds like it can be easily exploited.

Hopefully they'll be able to keep cheating to a minimum. Like Nintendo does with Mario Kart Wii.

Oh, and the level designs themselves need a huge shot in the arm as well. I like that they'll utilize the ASE more, scan enemies a la Metroid Prime maybe?

the original red steel wasn't great but red steel 2 is, so there's always the chance that high voltage could turn things around with a sequel, but... red steel 2 is great in large part because of the boost given by the motion +. the conduit 2 will get no such aid from new hardware and any improvements over the original will have to come from the developers alone. prepare for extreme bitterness:

i'm sure they'll fix many things here and there, and they have stated that the generic look of the original is a regret, but if they had the talent to make good environments you would have seen at least some in the first game. i hate to say it, but after the miles of cheaply repetitive, uninspired, boring beyond belief hallways of beige in the conduit i feel those developers have no concept of good level design or art direction in their bodies. there is nothing i saw in the first game that gives me faith that they could get it right a second time, and if they could, what was holding them back before? the original red steel was held back by the limits of the wiimote, but high voltage has no excuse for their mediocre product. but hey, prove me wrong, high voltage. local multiplayer is a great place to start.

Unfortunately, even if HVS pulled off some miracle and Conduit 2 quality turned out to match the CoD series, it would likely still sell worse than the original. With gamers it's always too late for a first impression.

Like romulux says, so much about The Conduit was bland and uninspired, not just the art. They REALLY need to get those level designs right. There really is no need for that Phase Rifle because if the game is as unpolished as the first one, you'll be able to shoot through walls anyway

Also, does anyone get the feeling this is replacing The Grinder for Wii.
