Occasionally you'll get an Assassin's Creed, Arkham Asylum or some western RPGs but yeah, I see you're point.
Most of them, no matter how hard they try, no matter how epic or huge or whatever they are, aren't as fun as FPSs used to be before this generation (and don't you dare assume I have nostalgia goggles) so it's just sad and pointless. Hell, I remember when I was complaining about Halo's popularity, but y'know, Halo was awesome. Halo was really fun. Most modern FPSs are not (or at least not worth anywhere near 60 dollars).
I do think it's kinda like the minigame problem with Wii where you will find good games if you look but they still have this sameness to them. And while there's only been 4 FPSs I can name released so far this year on the 360, many of the other games technically have lots of shooting, to the point that it gets silly.
No what I mean is that if you don't like shooting games (like me) then there is not much point in getting a ps360
Yeah, right. How many games can you even list that are for the PS3 and 360 that are even shooters? I can only list, maybe up to 20, and some of them aren't very good. If you'd actually look at the selection of games, you'd see that there are a hell of a lot more games than shooters. Ugh, such ignorant statements really burn me up.

Yea this. Its like saying the only games on the Wii are minigame collections so if you don't like minigames, then there is no point in getting a Wii.

well I just kind of didn't get any recommendations from freinds (because all of them play shooting games) so the only games I hear about released for the ps360 are halo or call of duty if you get what I mean so I sort of got put off
currently playing: Nintendogs + catsPilotwings resortPikmin 2
i understand what brawlmelee64guy means. most so-called "hardcore gamers" that only play ps360 mainly play shooting games with a little like assassin's creed and madden sprinkled in

There are only so many games you can find out about from "hear about it". I can't really blame you either, since everybody does, but it does frustrate me since it means a lot of good games get lost. Not that you can be expected to check out every game in a system's library (I've done that before. It's a ton of work...though it was worth it), but at the very least know what you like and see if you can find it. Look up reviews, look up videos. It's work, but it's worth it. You might be surprised how many game are on the other systems that you'd like. Oh and don't just check the disc section! I can't stress that enough!
Really, If I just based my purchases off of games I'd heard of, I would've given up on game a long time ago.

It's not an ignorant statement, though. If you don't own a PS360 (like me) and you look at IGN or any other game website, you're pretty much guaranteed to see articles about 1st-person shooters, 3rd-person shooters, or some sort of open world/sandbox RPG-like game that possibly involves shooting things. And if you don't like shooters (like me), then you're going to be biased against those systems because you have to look a lot harder to find games that look remotely interesting. This is no different than the people who look at Wii and think "oh, it's just party games and shovelware, plus Nintendo's big franchises", then write it off as a casual system. Shooters are what's popular right now, and whether it's intentional or not, when people throw around the term "hard-core gamer" it often comes out sounding like "fan of technically-impressive 1st-person shooters"... or something like it. I've been playing games for 25 years now and personally I find that offensive.
Yeh, a majority of the games on 360 are shooters. They are showcased more than the very few original titles that are swallowed up by all dem shooters. It's one of the turn offs for me. When and if I ever do get a 360, I'll be buying games from Xbox Live Arcade as those games are appealing to me more than the retail titles.
@kurtasbestos Did you even read Mickeymac's post? And if you did then what are you trying to say?
Anyway, it seems the more I play the other HD consoles the more I begin to dislike them. After getting my PS3 I began to become a Trophy hoarder, and only a select few games didn't get cast under this spell (Call of Duty Black Ops, Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid 4). With that being said, a long story short, I'm not really enjoying the game library on PS3. At all. And the more I play my PS3 the more I resort to my Wii/Gamecube.
Never thought you'd read that^^ did you?

For frick's sake, there's only 75 FPSes and 12 third-person shooters on the 360 as of May 2011. Out of over 700 games. That's not a majority. There are more fighting games on the 360 than third-person shooters.
700 games is a lot. But that also means that there's a handful of games that aren't bad and that aren't shooters. I know the Fable games are good. Kameo and Banjo too. But what else?

I'll give you a sfort list because I haven't bought that many games for the 360.

Out of 700 games.... out of many many less "Good" games.
@79 I've seen his games... Yeah he only plays FPS. And he specificly said that was why he was a gamer.
(wow i keep editing this with more things to say. lol) All I want to say, is that people steryotype. If we could just respect different peoples taste in gaming and not pretend some things are better than others, than we could all see that each console has great experiences to offer. Just different ones, in a good way. I'm happy that consoles are different because it mean there are choices, and you can pick something based on your tastes. (If Nintendo, Sony, and Micosoft came together to make a super console that everyone would have to buy because it was the only one though, with all the different experiences compiled into one place, everyone would be happy... One can only dream.)
EDIT: btw, saying that FPS' are the only games on PS3/360 is like saying that the wii only has shovelware. It's just that most (as in not everyone, just a bunch of the annoying people who like to diss nintendo) ONLY play these games because they're the only "cool" ones.
