I loved all the prime games! I never had a difficult time with the second one and enjoyed all the different challenges! I thought it was a step above the first which was also very good. All 3 of these games still hold up well today! Gorgeous graphics and timeless game play!

I did. I beat Prime, am stuck on the end of Corruption, and am half way through Echoes. I gave up, because it was such a big grind for me.

I think everyone gets lost on their first playthrough with the first two games. I know I did...but yeah I enjoyed Echoes, only parts I don't like is that key collecting thing at the end. (you know, the whole Wind Waker-like deal, only this isn't as bad, lol) And of course Boosty. >_>
Also finding the Grapple Gurardian a bit harder in the Wii version for some reason, no clue why.

For me Echoes was a little bit easier action-wise. And I enjoyed the concept of having multiple dimensions (light and dark). That has given more depth to the game. And it has already proven to be successful in other games like Soul Reaver or multiple Zeldas (A Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, Oracle of Seasons/Ages) and probably many others that I don't know.

After giving up on Prime 2 and finishing Other M I started playing 3. Enjoyed it for the most part and barely got lost until I get to the Energy Cell fetch quest. On Bryyo and using a guide I'm slowly progressing but and seriously about to give up. This one puzzle seems so complex. The funny thing is I enjoyed Prime 1, rarely got lost or confused, and had a great time playing. I think that games with a heavy focus on puzzle solving just aren't for me. I'll try and push through before starting something new. Based on this do you think I'd enjoy Skyward Sword? Should be here next week.

Yeah maybe after the first this just isn't your type of game. I never recall getting stuck to the point of frustration. As for skyward you might have a problem there as well but don't let that stop you from experiencing that wonderful game.

I liked Prime 2 far more than 3.

Update: After finding the bryyo energy cell (the worst one) everything else was smooth sailing and I finished the game tonight. I tend to rage when I don't make steady progress. Having played 1-3 I'd say the original Prime is the best.

You know, I did the fetch quest before I was even required to do it. It's not that bad when you do it bit by bit as the game progresses.

My friends actually hate me for this, but I am not enjoying Metroid Prime 2 as much as 1.
I hated the early sections of the Dark World (now it feels better because of the armor upgrade that reduces damage) since I don't like any actual dark world in any game (meaning any dark world that isn't done like the one in Link to the Past).
I have not yet had trouble with the actual progression, though (I am still early in the game, it seems; just finished the first temple, I believe).

The pacing still feels a little off. I feel like I am not exploring new unique areas at the same rate as I did in Metroid Prime. I mean, in Metroid Prime, you would go from Talon Overworld to Phendrana Drifts in the first 3 hours, and you were awestruck every time you took a newly discovered elevator to a new area.
In Metroid Prime 2, it seems, you are forced to stay in one area (or in a cluster of areas that are designed similarly) much longer. Its not as beautiful, and the soundtrack has yet to captivate me.

Learning about the world is much more fun for me, though! The lost civilization and the way the dark world interacts with the light world is interesting, and the way the Metroids are brought back into the scene is also interesting (though I don't quite get it.. There are high amounts of Phazon on the planet? Where? Is it the Dark World?! ). Its not a bad game by any means, and I am sure you didn't imply that, but for now the original seemed more involving. (I did not really grow up with the series, so nostalgia isn't a factor)

I'm not sure how much this is spoiling but in the logs explains that the exact same reason as why Phazon was in Prime 1, a meteor or asteroid or whatever of some sort hit the planet and had phazon and stuff. I'd say more but...um...it might be spoiling Prime 3? I'm genuinely not sure in which game they explain this stuff and how much.

Also, the soundtrack does get better.

Other than that I agree. Arguably the last major area (the Phazon Mines of this game I guess) saves the game since it is awesome and fun and has some of the best enemies of the series.

Oh, thank you for clarifying! Now that I think about it, I do think they mentioned it was just an asteroid or something else that carried the Phazon over. Thanks for not spoiling Prime 3, I have no idea what that game may be about!

I really like all the Prime games, altough I do get why some people didn't like 2. My favorite is still the first one,I can't name a thing wrong with that game. The beginning of 2 is a little boring to me,the game starts to get really good in my opinion once you get the first suit upgrade. Also,I absolutely adore Sanctuary Fortress.

But...whoever thought it was a good gaming design choice to trap you with those annoying Dark Pirate Commandos randomly on some of Torvus Bog rooms needs to get fired. Also, I'm not a huge fan of beam ammo, but you would be a little overpowered without it.

my first metroid prime game was the third one for wii.
i loved it and it was a no brainer to get the trilogy for wii when it came out.
had a blast playing through the first metroid prime, but the second was disappointing. it was not a bad game but compared to 1 and 3 it just felt lame. i also got lost frequently, though i got lost in all MP-games from time to time but it happened more often in MP2.
i stopped playing the game after being unable to defeat a certain boss.
sold the trilogy and all other wii games and the wii to get a 3ds. guess i will never try MP2 again.

i would love to see a new first person metroid game!

Oh btw to everyone ever: Use charged dark beam and missile against dark pirate enemies, for the love of god do this. You will save yourself from so much unnecessary frustration.

I will say while I liked the game as a whole

1. Torvus was a chore. The main boss of the area is fairly boring until the end, Boost Guardian is a very bad jump in difficulty and it has enemies that are annoying for stupid reasons rather than being clever challenges.
2. The game as a whole is only as great as it should be once you know what you do, aka 2nd playthroughs. In a series about exploration, that's not really a good thing. And trust me I got stupidly lost in the first 2 games when I played them the first time so I should know about exploring the environments and how much Prime 2's dark world made you not want to explore.
