So I'm not much of an online gamer. Sure I've joined in on some friend's 360's for a round of COD (watching the respawn screen most of the time) and talked to other friends about thier interest in MMO games, but me, like my name suggests, I'm a lone Nintendo player. Could it be because most titles I enjoy simply have no robust online mode like Mario, Zelda, Kirby etc.. Could be. It seems like Miiverse and the hardware and infrastructure N is building is gonna change thier approach to online features in their games. So I wonder, am I going to become much more of an online player with WiiU in front of me at home? Any of you soloists out there and wondering the same?

Get with the times, if the Wii U makes you an online gamer, then there is something wrong with you.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

It probably will, especially seeing how diverse the functions are and can be utilised. Panicking and screaming obscenities to friends while playing a good round of ZombiU sounds incredibly appealing.

Let us not judge a man by the colour of his skin, but by the character he chooses to battle with in Brawl.

No, I couldn't care less about online, I'm skipping the new Wii Dragon Quest thanks to the online-only requirement

Maybe a little more so, but not if I don't get a play with people I know. No offense to everybody here of course! Nobody I know seems to be getting one though. All other 22 year olds seem to want is their 360 and PS3 with COD.

The PC didn't do it, the 360 didn't do it, PS3 didn't do it, the 3DS didn't do it, and I highly doubt the Wii U will do it.

@Reala That's why I'm curious. Many of us in this site are Nintendo devices only owners and are simply very casual to the idea of online gaming. Perhaps we have just entered a bit into the arena with 3DS online capability I know I have. So it's an interesting discussion with console ownership habits changing with nintendos changes.

It might change some minds, but I think most people who would be interested in online gaming already knew they would be a long time ago, and have since found ways to accomidate that.

Quite possibly. I know for me it's a new concept because N's franchises have largely been online free thats reflected in my gaming. I've just started to enjoy online with 3DS Tetris MK7 Kid Icarus. It's been fun so I think it will want more online from Nintendo now, where before I didn't care.

No, it wont turn me into an online gamer. I have had a PS3 for a few years and hardly use the online components of the games.

If the 360 couldn't do it, no console can.

I already am an online gamer. You may find it funny, but I actually started with the Wii. (Don't take that to mean anything about the quality of the Wii's online, 'cause it's horrible.)

Online can become way too addictive to the point of being a complete waste of time. Super Street Fighter II HD remix had me at," Ok, just ONE more match" ....2 hours later i was still duking it up" :p

So no, it won't change me into an online gamer, i'm typically anti-Online anyways.

I know what you mean. I'll often spend hours playing online (Battlefield 2, Team Fortress 2, World of Warcraft etc., depending on when we're talking) even past the point where I'm really enjoying it, while I've got a whole shelf of unfinished games behind me.

I think it's because I view online gaming as a bit of 'throwaway' entertainment. Sure, it's great fun, but because I'm not worried about a story or anything I can jump in for very short period of time (say 10-15 mins), have a bit of fun and not have to worry about cutting things short. On the other hand, if I want to play a single player game with a story, I feel like I should set aside an hour or two at a time to play it 'properly'. As a result I find it much easier to just jump online, even if I do end up playing for an extended period.

On topic: as others have said, I can't imagine many people will be 'converted' to online gaming by the Wii U. It's easily accessible on other platforms so I'd say that most people would have gotten their fix elsewhere already if they're so inclined.

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

I don't do online gaming, however if the Wii-U has a robust infrastructure and games that have interesting online modes (i.e. not first-person deathmatch) I could see putting a toe in the water.
