Topic: Wii U zapper would definitely change the way we play.

I was doing some researches about Wii U accessories, and there are few that makes the Wii U a great system to have. The Wii U zapper, which was shown in Wii U E3 2011 trailer, has the potential to change how we play dramatically.

Imagine that using the gamepad as zooming lens for shooters like Call of Duty, or Hunting games. What do you think?

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

It could bring a new way to play but gamers in general look for the easiest way to play something. If it is easier not to buy a zapper and just play the game that is what they will do.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I liked the Zapper on the Wii. It really depends how they use it.

I would be intrigued, but Nintendo would have to be able to ensure that the Gamepad would not be able to fly off and smash on the floor. That is and has always been my concern since seeing the add-on in that video.

If they were to make sure all the buttons from the gamepad made it on to the zapper, then it would be a cool peripheral. It would also make it so that any game could be played without it as well, which is fine really. Now what I'd like to see really change gaming is the Wii U Power Glove. It'd be like having Samus's arm cannon to play with! You'd still have to have a wireless nunchuck in your other hand for movement, but it'd still be awesome.

I know the gamepad doesn't weigh that much but holding it in the incredibly awkward way that picture shows would get tiring quickly.

Games that used the Wii Zapper:

I used it for Medal of Honor: Heroes, and I knew plenty of people playing Dead Space: Extraction or RE: Umbrella Chronicles.

The Conduit was kind of popular, so I'm sure it was used for that also. It wasn't just useless. The Medal of Honor game played best with the Wii Zapper, IMO.

I'm not particularly interested but I don't think you would have problems with it flying off. It would probably screw into the ridge on the back of the pad.

The Wii U gamepad is pretty heavy. Personally, I couldn't imagine playing anything like that, it seems like it would get very tiring very fast. That, or the gamepad would fall out and break...

Honestly, I think the Zapper add-on was more of a way to show how third parties can utilise the Gamepad with their own accessories than anything, along with that whole E3 2011 trailer. Nintendo hasn't had any intention to release it as far as I can see.

But I didn't like the Zapper at all. I bought it with Link's Crossbow Training for £7.50, played it for about an hour, and then sold it off again two months later for £7.

Question: If the Wii U Zapper did come out, what game should come with it? The Wii Zapper came with Link's Crossbow Training, so I doubt they would do a Zelda one again. Perhaps some sort of Metroid game? Maybe something similar to Metroid Blast?

Honestly, though, I think it could be really good. Take Black Ops 2, for example. I think it would make it a lot easier to watch the map and the tv at the same time, because you're most likely not holding the gamepad upright when playing with it and BO2 isn't really a game where you should be taking your eyes off the screen much. Or you could use it in a way similar to Second Sight on the gamecube, where you see a third person view of yourself on the tv and you see though the scope on the gamepad screen.

The only thing I ask is that the Zapper itself has plenty of buttons easily accessible. Make the joystick clickable for one, then have at least two buttons for each hand. I don't think the Zapper itself would need as many buttons as the gamepad, as the buttons and screen on the gamepad still wouldn't be too far out of reach.

As for people saying it would be too heavy, seriously? You'd be holding it with two hands. I don't even get tired from holding the gamepad with one hand (while browsing the web, etc.). Also, have you ever picked up a real gun before? The gamepad is weightless in comparison.

I'm SURE it would not be so heavy that it'll be tiring, unless you're EXTREMELY weak. Now if it was the size of a sniper rifle, that's a different story. Also, I'm sure it would be very secure. The Wii U gamepad has various mounts on it, including a 1/4" screw mount, so I'm sure you wouldn't have to worry about it falling out (unless you got a 3rd patter zapper, lol).
