@Bolt_Strike: You are quite the strange fellow. To be honest it seems like you have the idea that if a game doesn't innovate than it isn't a good game, or at the very least you seem to harshly look down on those games because of that. Which is weird considering how much you enjoy the Pokemon franchise.
@Bolt_Strike Okay...LOOK. First you go on ahead and bash on a game that you didn't even play. And then you say that people who disagree with you are wrong. I am going to say this one more time: YOU CAN'T JUDGE SOMETHING YOU HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED! You can't have an opinion on it! Hell, it's not even an opinion! It's an assumption! And then you have to go around and say that the people who DID play the game are apparently wrong! Oh, yes! Clearly you, a person who has never even touched 3D World, knows more about it and have a more valid opinion towards it than those who have! The same could be said about your views towards Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. But you know what? Why am I even bothering? Unless it's a new Galaxy game or Metroid Prime 4, you don't care about it! ESPECIALLY because those wouldn't end up being rehashes, unlike these games that you COMPLETELY know about just by looking at the cover! PS You anna talk about a rehash? Look at Galaxy 2. THERE'S your rehash!
@NintendoFan64: Be careful with the mods (you know because of the slight fowl language), and anyways he doesn't really care. He's satisfied with his current knowledge and method and honestly that discussion has been done to death with him. In the end it's no skin off our backs.
Some random dude on Nintendo Life.

I'd be down with it, but since it was just re-released in the last generation, I don't see it happening. I think a Sunshine or Galaxy remake is more plausible. I know it will never happen, but I'd love some sort of "Super Mario HD (or 3D) Collection" that encompasses all of the previous-gen Mario 3D platformers into one game: Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy 1 & 2, all remastered in high-definition. But again, this is just wishful thinking that will never come to pass. To make it an even more outlandish prediction, I say it should also include the likes of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, also re-imagined in HD with 3D models instead of sprites and added simultaneous co-op! And they could even add co-op to the remade 3D platformers! And I'm going to shut up now, because none of this will ever actually happen...! [cries hysterically]
@NintendoFan64 You're also missing the point. What I was trying to get at was earlier was pointing towards review scores and player experiences is not objective fact, this entire argument is subjective because it's a matter of whether or not the player has gotten bored of particular elements that have been repeated.
You are, however, objectively wrong about having to play a game to form an opinion on it, because you have to form some sort of opinion on a game before you even decide to buy it. How would you even know whether or not you wanted a game if you can't form an opinion on it beforehand? The game has to draw you in in some way to get you to buy it, and that feeling isn't there for me in the recent Mario and DK games.
Anyway, I never meant to derail this thread in the first place. I don't expect 64 to get re-remade unless there's some type of major change in the industry that would warrant an update instead of a port. And I don't think VR, AR, or any of that is the major change that's going to do that. It feels like a pretty complete game at this point.
@Bolt_Strike: Okay...I'm just going to leave with this:
1. When you said that "Many people are not objectively right.", it wounded like you were saying "My opinion is fact!".
2. You can say that a game doesn't look interesting to you, but you can't go around talking about gameplay as if you've actually played the game, because if you haven't played it, you can't say anything about it. You just say "I don't think it looks worth my time.", not "This game is a bland, boring rehash. The gameplay is just like before. Nothing is new." like you've played the whole game!
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

I think he's talking about gameplay. And yeah, you really shouldn't spring for a remake unless you can add content or make some kind of gameplay upgrade, especially now that VC is a thing.
No, please No.
we already got a remake on Nintendo DS, not to mention it's has VC on the Wii U and Wii, unless they have something new to add a remake that has not been done in Super Mario 64. otherwise, it does not need a remake,
want to play Super Mario 64 on a handheld play Super Mario 64 DS, want to play the game on a console get it on Wii/Wii U (or N64)
Yes, Super Mario 64 was great, and fun, but doubt that it well happen again
tbh would you rather pay a $60 remake game, then a $10 of the original from VC? at least (in some way) we can be happy that Super Mario 64 DS came to handheld,
if anything i rather if Nintendo remakes something that has not been done yet, no need waist resouces of something that already been remade on DS, and on VC
then again Halo on Xbox Live, and it end up getting a remake , so i don't know (maybe?) but i'm with people that on side of "Not Happening/Doesn't need to happen

Just for the record, I am one of those guys who loved the original Super Mario Galaxy. Recently I bought for the first time Galaxy 2 and 3D World on Wii U. Guess what game I am playing way more? 3D World. It's good that they took a different approach with 3D World, and there is some stellar level design to be found here, particularly in the later worlds. The early trailers don't do it justice and the whole game looks like candy to me. And 4 player co-op, that's amazing!
I will eventually play Galaxy 2 to completion and I have no doubt it's a great game, but it's kind of more of the same we had in Galaxy. 3D World is winning here so far. It is not a 3D Land rehash (I've played that game also). So, please refrain from making uninformed opinions before you play at least 12 hours of it.

OoT 3D didn't do any of that. That was almost entirely graphical!
