all they did is stop the freezing you still can't watch videos with ads, it will say "sorry this video is unavailable on this device". i was watching videos with ads(the ads never come up on wii u but they do on pc) after the update, but after a while they stoped working now any vid with ads dont work again, so were back to where we started within hours after the update...

@shininimus Its starting to become quite irritating isn't it as soon as one problem is resolved another one pops up, hopefully it will be resolved in a few days.

He's right. Every single video that would have an ad now won't play. Not cool Nintendo, not cool.

@jazzorp4 k found a way. go to settings change the user agent to internet explorer touch and enable the developer tools when you go on video it will say flash is needed or some crap but just touch the vid and it will work when you go off wii u browers the user agent and developer settings will change back to default. i think you can use android touch but it has a different layout.

k i just did a quick test the wii u browser can still only play mp4 videos. tryed all the agents but it didn't work with this

i dont know what format its is but androids are able to play any vid on android phones and tablets, so i think its safe to assume that wii u browser can only play mp4 video and videos on html5 supported sites. i think they should have added flash or somthing, i see people saying html 5 is the future but thats exactly what it is the future not present iv only seen one web site that supports hmtl5 and thats youtube.

@TheLilK98 its in setting on the browser in the top right on the wii u browser homepage to get to home page open up a new tab or press the icon that looks like a door next to the url bar in top left. corner.

I've had this problem for a few days now, i was watching Youtube fine until the other day when it crashed & froze the Wii U. Ever since all it was doing was crashing & freezing the Wii U, updated the Wii U today & it doesn't play any Youtube vids with ads as someone else has pointed out. So we are forced to use the Youtube app, or i'll try what shininimus has posted.

So the workaround is no longer required (at least for me.) Ads play like they did prior to the complications with the Wii U freezing and the recent update. YAY!
