Topic: What new IPs have Nintendo created within the last 5 years, or have planned?

I know this is a general Nintendo topic but there's no forum just for Nintendo in general, so I'm gonna ask here. What new franchises, or older franchises with a totally different style of gameplay, has Nintendo put out since late 2009, or have planned for the future?

Off the top of my head HarmoKnight, Splatoon, Pushmo, Steel Diver and probably some more too.

Genuine question, is Xenobalde an orginal IP? Monolith made all those Xeno games before and I thought Xenoblade was a part of that series, I've only played Xenoblade Chronicles so I'm not sure what the other games are like.

Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade are all unrelated.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

While Monolith Soft created the Xenosaga series neither they nor Nintendo hold the IP of it or Xenogears, so technically Xenoblade is a new IP.

Additionally, Xenoblade's got nothing to do with Xenogears story-wise.

There's also FlingSmash and a lot of DSiWare such as A Kappa's Trail and Photo Dojo.

The more important question is how many new IP's have they created with the resources allocated to them of say Zelda or 3D Mario.

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.

Eel

You means as in, with the resources given to the dev teams to develop new Zeldas and Marios?

Probably zero

That is the point. Anything they put as much into as those would be brilliant. Even very similar mechanics but a new setting would be better.

DefHalan

How many times have they created games with such different mechanics that it could have been its own game but instead threw an existing IP on it?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Completely disagreed, taking the same gameplay but putting it in a new setting would be utterly pointless. New IPs need unique gameplay mechanics to define them, otherwise they feel like clones of each other, and that makes them less fun.
