Even very similar mechanics but a new setting would be better.
Completely disagreed, taking the same gameplay but putting it in a new setting would be utterly pointless. New IPs need unique gameplay mechanics to define them, otherwise they feel like clones of each other, and that makes them less fun.
Well at the moment they don't even seem like a clone but the same game.

Pushmo
Dillon's Rolling Western
FreakyForms
Rusty's Real Deal Baseball
HarmoKnight
NES Remix
Sakura Samurai
All just eShop games. Also, NES Remix was literally just re-using old titles. Is this really what qualifies as new IP?
Splatoon
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
Captain Toad
These aren't even out yet, and Captain Toad uses an existing character. I know the question said planned, but its kind of disappointing that in a 5 year length we have to start looking at stuff that isn't even out yet.
Wonderful 101
That was Platinum, not Nintendo.
Nintendo Land
A minigame collection from existing IP's.
Streetpass Games
Lol. You're really reaching now aren't you?
Steel Diver
Xenoblade Chronicles
Probably the only respectable answers to the question that are currently out. Many of these games didn't have physical releases, and even more haven't had a sequel or second iteration. Honestly Nintendo don't really make new IP's anymore. It says a lot that there are more Mario Platformers released in the last 5 years than new IP's created.

Splattoon
It was created by Nintendo originally. It was meant to use Nintendo character instead of "superhearoes". Platinum Games is just the developer for the project, Nintendo owns the IP rights.
I kinda assumed it was based off their Gb game radar mission. Though after seeing more of that game it seems unlikely.
Although it seems it is older than five years, since it started its life as a very early DS game.
Well, you can't really think like that when it comes to intellectual property rights.
Radar Mission is one intellectual property, Steel Diver is another intellectual property. No matter if one is based on the other. Otherwise you could say that (e.g.) Bayonetta isn't a new IP since it's based on a LOT of the mechanics from Devil May Cry.
I think you are reaching to discredit a lot of those games
A retail game of a new IP that has been released. I'd hardly say those expectations are too high. When someone asks "What new IP has Nintendo created in the last 5 years" and your best answers are cheap one-off eShop games and stuff that isn't even out yet then I'd say you're the one reaching.
@Geonjaha: The OP did not mention any of those arbitrary requirements (retail only, big budget, final destination) in his post though. In fact he even includes "new and different games in existing series" as acceptable answers (which means KIU is worth mentioning).
Not sure why should people limit their lists to only include big retail games.

I find it very pointless to not count eShop titles. The walls between digital and physical are almost gone. Digital only releases don't mean small budget titles. eShop games are also some of the most unique. If you are just looking for new IPs, which is the purpose of this thread, then all of them on @MrWalkieTalkie list count. Even Wonderful 101 as Nintendo published it. (not sure who owns the series, Platinum or Nintendo) Even those StreetPass games are fantastic examples of new series from Nintendo. I have spent more time in those StreetPass games than any other 3DS game.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Its not pathetically reaching to make the list seen larger, he asked for upcoming and I answered.
Being a mini game collection doesn't discredit it from being an IP. Neither does referencing other games, I guess Smash Bros. isn't a real IP right...
P.S. Miyamoto said it is a new IP, yet is upset that no one seems to credit it as such for reasons like yours.
