The patch is available now and updates the game with a variety of different gameplay enhancements, including the following;

Collecting 100 rings will now grant players an extra life.
In the event of a Game Over, the amount of lives you receive have doubled from the previous amount (5 to 10)
Indigo Asteroid, Crimson Eagle, Orange Rocket, and the Black Bomb wisps can now be controlled using the analog stick and buttons.
They also fixed some rare graphical glitch that would occur during the pinball segment of the Frozen Factory casino level.

What do you think of this new patch to the Wii U game? I personally think it's great that they've listened to fan criticisms and applied that to their game to make it more enjoyable!

Or they could have just fixed the controls.

Thanks for sharing. I am more tempted to get it now.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

What about the 3DS game then?

No word on a update for the 3DS version. The 3DS version was too flawed in my opinion, though, nothing a patch could fix without changing all of the gameplay, ehh. :/

Wow, that fixes a lot of the problems people have been having with the game. They not only made it easier to get lives, but also made the motion controls optional, great job Sega

@Merricktherox I dunno, the demo I played was fine...

Oh definitely, the demo for both versions is a blast to play! In fact, the first two worlds in my opinion are the best in the game, with Sonic strutting his stuff like he always does. Things went downhill from there, though, with all sorts of strange gimmicks and game design that doesn't feels more experimental than anything else. Like the developers were toying around with ideas, but a lot of them just didn't feel finalized and can be awkward to play through. I dunno, the whole experience no matter what system I played on was pretty awkward and frustrating at times, but that's just my two cents~

Huzzah! Those plentiful lives are a much needed improvement to the game. Though I recently just grinder to get 99 of them.

The only way I could see a patch fixing this game is if it replaced the game with an entirely different one, hate to say it.

Why did they not fix the Rhythm Wisp? It's stupid.

Heh, I'm not so wild with the extra lives continue thing (pesonally i think they would just leave it alone), but it's nice that they patched the game.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

Gotta find out if there is a way to not make it update. It seems to change the game quite a bit, i'd prefer to play it in its original from whenever i find the time to.

Trust me, its all changed for the better. Having more lives is a positive, because this game seriously lacks them. There are not enough scattered throughout the levels, so earning them was a pain.

And now you can control more wisps with either thumb stick or Touchscreen More options is better.

Does the patch plus the free Yoshi content improve this game ? I heard it may get a Zelda themed patch

They basically said in the Nintendo direct that it'll be "Linked" to another Nintendo franchise in the other upcoming DLC. Take from that what you will.
