If they do become affiliated, they will probably do things exactly the way they did before, only exclusively.
What makes you say that? Nintendo's never let any other developer they own just do things without following strict supervision and criteria. Heck, they do that with developers they work with that aren't necessarily owned by them. Why would they do anything different with Atlus?
Well, i hope there's some way for Atlus to move on without losing too much of what makes them great.
If Nintendo buying them leads to such a scenario it could be a big win for the big N.
I think he's just speaking under the logic of "I like both companies and the games they make, so having them together is good" however flawed it may be.
Why not let someone other than the big 3 buy Atlus?
For sers. I'd honestly find it as much of a travesty if Sony bought Atlus as it would if Nintendo bought them. There are plenty of other companies that would benefit from owning Atlus.

Speaking from a business standpoint, Atlus makes games that gamers like and right now the relationship between them and Nintendo is close. If Nintendo had Atlus imagine how much power they would have with JRPGs. It's a money thing. Now from a consumer standpoint I would want anyone except Sony and MS to buy them. Whoever buys them I still want Atlus games on my 3DS.
and right now the relationship between them and Nintendo is close.
And the dozen or so games they've put out on the PSP, PS3, PSVita, and even the 360, as well as their stated commitment to the PS4, don't prove that they have a good relationship with other companies as well?

They would have some great games that only a certain niche group, many of which are distributed across various platforms, would buy. Sure sounds like money all right...wasted money...
Limited printings? You mean like the Metroid Trilogy and Xenoblade?
Xenoblade's limited printing ( or rather, its entire situation, really) was handled poorly, IMO, and I'm guessing Nintendo thinks so, too, since Reggie's now been sidelined to allow for more of their games to reach the west.
They better not. I want Persona 5 on anything but the Wii U or 3DS.
The thing you said most that bothers me, to have this game on every other platform including pc but not a Nintendo console...it's not like you have to buy it, oh sure you are putting this game on a console with not many owners but every game helps out the console.
I said nothing about how it was handeled just that it is a practice they dabble in. I would love to play it myself but refuse the 100 plus price tag for a used game that's barely a few years old.
Only nintendo knows if they will buy Atlus. The author does make one very good point tho. I can't think of a single time nintendo has given away free monney if you buy third party software. If you use the eshop promo cash for and download third party of indie nintendo has to pay them. Lets think about this for a moment.
