Pikmin 3 is due sometime in Spring, but producer Shigeru Miyamoto feels that it should have ideally launched alongside the Wii U itself. He’s also said that The Legend of Zelda Wii U is a long way off.

I also feel it should of been a launch title with the Wii-U, the current launch title's were not enough to sell the system sadly. It needed 1st party games like Wii Fit U, Zelda ect.

Nintendo could of avoided all this mess they are currently in. System sales are doing poor right now.

Pikmin 3 is not a system seller and would have had no impact in console sales.

It should have been a launch title but I can accept having to wait, especially if its for a Pikmin game. I want this game to be perfect so by all means hold the game back a little longer if you need to, Miyamoto!

The game won't be perfect in my eyes at it omites online co-op and competitive Multiplayer when the main hook is we are playing with five of olimers successors.

Just fine it odd how Nintendo chooses games that receive multiplayer, surely this game was built around it more so than something Like Luigis mansion.

2players online on one wiiU joining other is indeed a lot of fun. I don't think the wiiU pikmin ever had it coming though...

Pikmin 3 will be great. Ideally as a launch title, but better make a game great and late than available and forgettable. Especially something as marvellous as pikmin.

Its been confirmed since either E3 or the fall Wii U event that the game wouldn't have a online component meaty or otherwise. One would argue that this game should have it since no other game has taken advantage of all the Wii U features. I wonder how much of that has to with this being for the most part an upgraded Wii Game.

Can't really say if this would have been a good launch title. Most likely we would have been complaining that a No brand game like Pikmin was what caused the Wii U sales slump instead of having a major hitter like Mario. I do tend to think that new IP or newish IP are better served at launch compared to something that will sales either way.

Might not, but if Pikmin 3 launched with the Wii U, we would not have those discussions on whether the Wii U is graphically capable enough, because it would have been obvious AT LAUNCH. That would impact the way the Wii U is perceived, and would have an impact on sales. (It's not for nothing that the game was the first game showcased in the Japanese Wii U ad.)

Now I'm glad that they take more time for it, because if they actually do it means the game wouldn't be able to handle that burden as a launch title.

Fanboys bashing on Wii U is not a problem whatsoever and if Pikmin 3 was a launch, you know as well as I do, that those "trolls" would still find a way around Pikmin 3's achievement.

The impact on sales wouldn't exist because Pikmin isn't widely accepted by any country as a heavy hitter. NA, Europe or Japan. Word-of-mouth may have had a larger impact, but in no would it have met Nintendo's expectations. Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U or Pikmin 3 are not enough to achieve a five million console milestone in this economic crisis.

Well it's better than putting SiNG Party on Launch.

not sure what you mean with 'capable enough' but if a starting point of parity with current gen was required, several launch ports confirmed it, more or less. I also don't see how pikmin 3 is technically strong enough to prove anything, considering its development history, wii origins and current build.

This. Anyone who is likely to buy this game already owns a Wii-U.

Batman Arkham City should have been bundle with the Wii U, since its already cheaper to buy on other consoles.
Its the only game I heard that plays well on the Wii U.

You be surprise how much people love those type of games, I seen kids go crazy for them.
This age of gaming has change, and today kids can care less about these other rated E games.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

I'm actually waiting for Pikmin 3 to be released before I even consider purchasing a Wii U. But @Chrono_Cross is right when he says Pikmin 3 wouldn't sell systems. Nintendo would have needed a new Zelda or 3D Mario to do that. They are both more friendly and accessible to casual players.

A dogmatic comment like this must have some thought process behind it, but as an unverifiable conjecture it doesn't appear sound.

NintendoLand is evidently not a system seller; and in my opinion and yours, neither is NSMBU. Maybe people want something new, an experience that cannot be replicated on other consoles. To say that game is not Pikmin 3 seems premature, although I will concede it could only be a small part of a larger effort by Nintendo.

not at the rate of WiiU sales. i'm sure there are many of us who, for whatever reason, are waiting for more games of interest to come out before purchasing the system.

I would imagine we won't have to wait long for Pikmin 3. With the amount of talk about it recent suggests there is an attempt to drum up some interest. I'm guessing one MH3 and Lego City are released they'll be some more info.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

SCRAPPER392

It doesn't even matter. None of us have any say in what a company should do, so why should we say they should have done?
They always delay launch games for whatever reason, by declaring that it needs final touches or to spread out releasing software to keep players playing in reasonable increments of time.
I think Pikmin 3 is somwhat of a system seller, but would probably only muster up 100,000 sales at best IMO. Nintendo figures that whoever has bought a Wii U did so, because it was their next console, and we are sure to get some good stuff throughout the life span of the console.
I bought my Wii U knowing a Smash Bros., Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Pikmin, etc. other possible games and apps would for sure be happening on Wii U.
If you're even thinking about getting one or waiting for the games we know are coming out, you probably should just go get one. Why would you wait to get one in a later point in time, when you're going to get one regardless? You might as well have it now if you're gonna get one at all.
