I'm hoping for a price drop or sale or bundle of some sort. And I don't have much time to play video games during University months anyway. If I go out and purchase a new system I at least want to be able to spend some quality time with it. Late spring/early summer looks like a good time to consider getting a Wii U I think.

If you're even thinking about getting one or waiting for the games we know are coming out, you probably should just go get one. Why would you wait to get one in a later point in time, when you're going to get one regardless? You might as well have it now if you're gonna get one at all.

Yea. Since that strategy is really causing gamers to flock to the Wii U.

Price drop? Seems like a good reason to me or at least that's my reason. I just don't see $350 being worth it right now...plus I got to do all those adult things like paying bills and trying to manage my money.

Why the hell would a consumer buy something that they currently have no use for? That's like buying a 4K TV today, even though there isn't any content available for it.

Ya, but what if a price drop doesn't happen because good games that more people want start coming out? Are you going to wish you would have just bought one to begin with if the price doesn't change for a long time? I'm not saying a price drop isn't going to happen, but the hardware itself costs that much with no games at all, and will continue to cost that much as long as there's value from consistent support in either the actual hardware or interesting software.

Uhh... 4K TVs upconvert 1080p to 4K right out of the box.

Then how would it affect me buying it now with nothing rather than buying it later with something? I would not be thinking 'Oh I wish I had bought this 8 months ago with no software out'. If I wanted it bad enough when software released and it's still at the same price point than I will go purchase it.

It should have been at launch because then I would get to play it now :3
Seriously though, I want it to be as great as it can be, so I can wait (I've already waited around 10 years )

This notion that Pikmin 3 would be a good system seller is delusional.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

Miscalculations were multiple, starting from the announcement that the console would cater towards the enthusiasts, flamboyantly collapsed at e3 '12, during the most disappointing (re)reveal in recent history; design, branding and presentation have been ambiguous so far and repeated failures to fix the confusion aggravated it's identity problem. Pricing and launch library sealed off the deal nicely.
I was a little surprised that nsmb failed to deliver the much wanted traction, not so much for nintendoland which I never saw as potential wii sports type phenomenon. Back to the op, in the remote chance vgchartz is close, both p1 and p2 sold about a million copies, the latter having an 18 million install base. I'd be extremely surprised if p3 surpassed it and doubtful wii u sales will gain any significant momentum before mario kart/price cut combo during the holidays.

I understand, but there are games out for it that already perform better than Xbox 360 and PS3 even as I type on my GamePad. Probably one of the best internet browsers out there, off-TV, Netflix, current games enhanced by the GamePad and and new ones, Wii BC, fast online connectivity, ext. HDD compatible, it will have mostly 1080p native games, the clearest 5.1 surround sound you can even hear so far.
My point is, is that the Wii U already has tons to offer IMO, and once there's more reasons to own it, the price isn't going to go down.
Some one who has never had a game console and bought Wii U as there first console, will have the best console out there right now IMO.

That's not entirely true, we need to differentiate cost of manufacturing (actual value) and the perceived value to the consumer. The hardware cost will fluctuate based on manufacturing improvements; there's also a complication brought in by having 2 models of the console. While it gives Nintendo opportunity to fiddle with price ($300 to $350) and pack-ins, it also creates confusion about the value of the console. Nintendo Land is relatively unknown to gamers, yet people still feel there's value in getting a console and a game. A more tempting scenario to me, would see the Deluxe model selling for $300 with Nintendo Land, introduce a new bundle at the $350 mark that has Zelda Windwaker and a colored controller or something.

which games perform better than the best ps360 exclusives?

Too late to change that now. Not like the system will die just because this one came came out a little late. I'll admit that it might've done better during the early period, but whatever.

Well, first of all, let me start out by saying different games have different artstyles and such.
Anyways, COD BO2 runs really well on Wii U. You can use the Gamepad for split screen, any pair of headphones with a mic for voice chat, touch controls, you can use the Wii remote and nunchuk to play games like COD or Sonic with motion controls.
Batman is better on Wii U.
There are games on Wii U besides the built in feautures that show it's a worthy purchase.

We've already seen a ZombiU bundle for $40 more basically giving you ZombiU for free, and it still includes Nintendo Land. People are gonna buy the Pro controller if they enjoy their Wii U.
The actual value of what you're getting in the box is alot to consider. How do you think products get so popular with no prior experience of interaction from anyone? People try it out, say it's good, people buy it. Smartphones are a good example, now tons of people have a smart phone.

your definition of 'perform' is quite amusing, if anything.

Lets just leave at one of the 3 next gen consoles is out and available right now.

EDIT: The fact is, is that even though the Wii U improves little based soley on hardware, it is an improvement none the less. It's expandable, and there will no doubt be improvements through its lifetime, but HD, suround sound, motion controls, touch controls, and internet are standard on today's market. Nintendo doesn't have to worry about trying to push these enhancements on consumers. That was already done last gen.

Its the only game I heard that plays well on the Wii U.

Do you own a Wii U? Your statement, "... I heard that plays well" implies that you do not. You do realize, then, how silly you seem to learned people like moi who read a poster's comment while also picking up on the general logos and ethos of said person.

So, aside from not owning the console you are mildly criticizing, or perhaps just not owning many games for it, have you played many? I've played Batman, Ninja Gaiden, Trine 2 and Darksiders as third-party multi-console games, and all were fantastic and ran as smooth as a baby's behind. What exactly are you trying to accomplish by entering a public forum with no real, first-hand knowledge of the topic at hand?

I wish Nintendo would release some games for the Wii U if for no other reason than something new to talk about in the Wii U forum here.
