The hardware specs for the consoles are needlessly complex and/or unrealistic and of course they are fake, Nintendo's hardware engineers are not going to make a system like this when they do not need to.
Do these people know how much heat a Power8 processor produces and how expensive they are to produce or license.
I expect for next-gen for Nintendo to dump IBM's PowerPC (not even consider the POWER series) and just use simpler ARM or X86 as their application processor. The PPC750 were excellent power-effecient yet performance minded processors ,and still can be if updated, but IBM has not done much to improve them (yes the PPC750 in Wii U runs at higher clock speeds and is multicore and uses slight more modern buses, but in terms of ALUS and SIMD they have not really improved all that much, although ALU performance is very good). However, there is a lot of option in the market right now, we have ARM chips and X86 chips that have more modern designs, are less expensive, and as power efficient as PPC750.
Yeah I generally agree with you guys. I think the next system is probably being worked on, but I doubt it's coming anytime soon. Probably not at least until 2016-2017.
I also like the idea of a unified console because it would also mean a unified account system.

BACK MY PROJECT EVEN $1 HELPS!
Well I don't think this rumor is true, I do believe they want to "fuse" their portable and home console, didn't hey combine their two divisions last year? This setup seems weird with coaxial, and two versions, and whatnot, I would love a combination portable and home console, but I think we've got some time till we see this, if at all

There is no doubt in my mind, that Nintendo is working on their next big thing, but I'm thinking this is fake.
Nintendo doesn't need a portable/home console hybrid, because the 3DS is portable, and the GamePad is there.
This is sounding too much like PS Vita and PS4, so don't count on it. They won't be releasing new hardware until both the 3DS and Wii U are obsolete. They've already made this clear, numerous times.
Because if you're going all out on holographic storage and making sure the main console supports 3DS game cards upscaled to 4K and across four gamepads. You better be save money by only being wireless n and only support 2x USB 3 ports with no Ethernet.
Oh and the best bit, the two storage skus. Makes a lot of sense to with one model with 60GB of flash at a cost of about $60 for that flash and a second 300GB HDD option at about the same for that. Wouldn't at all make any more sense to go with 30GB of flash at $30 and 500GB HDD at $65. Even less sense in a couple of years as flash becomes cheaper per GB faster than mechanical storage does.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
Nintendo is definitely working on new consoles, they've even stated they look to building the next console after the current is finished and released. That much is true.
However to get this system finished within 1 year and a bit? No, that's bull.
However, there could be some credibility. Especially when the Virtual Boy flopped, they discontinued that after a few months if I remember correctly. Then the retailers hurrying to get the Wii U stock out as quickly as possible at super low prices. But then why would they bother supporting the Wii U now? Seems no logical point, not to mention the backlash they'll receive from fans.
In a sense, there is credible reason for this. The Wii U isn't hitting hard enough, devs aren't interested, retailers are trying to get rid of it asap. But if they announce a new console now, they'll sting the fans and the devs will be thinking 'wtf?'. Its just not a good idea, maybe by 2016/17.
@Chris720
The Wii U low proces aren't really a problem, though. The UK is getting some good deals, but the US has been getting that deal for a while, now. All that implies to me, is that they charged premium price for the premium bundle, and retailers have made enough money to sell them for lower. The Mario/Luigi bundle is still regular price.
If they sell the core system or the one w/ Nintendo Land, for cheaper, they can make way for new bundles.
£180 is $300 in the U.S., which is what the Wii U Mario/Luigi bundle is selling for, over here.
EDIT: In all honestly, the price cuts of certain retailers says more about the economy than anything else. That's what I think, anyway.
Of course they are working on the successors, they always do after a new release. Their R&D costs are up, so...yeah...it's pretty much a normal practice. But this "report", is complete nonsense, and fake.

Is FUSION even possible? I really like this rumor... It`s great...
Technically? I guess in theory maybe. With these particular specs and features? No.
For a start they mention "holographic enhanced" SDHC cards that support "upto 128GB" of storage. That's not even a thing and doesn't need to be a thing. SDHC already has a successor that's capable of cards of upto 2TB. It's called SDXC and you can walk into a shop and get them. That alone is enough to make this nonsense.
When these guys make consoles, and Nintendo in particular, they tend to use fairly well established tech in creative ways. Stuffs they know they can churn out in large numbers. Just look at the Wii U for example. It's an IBM CPU with an AMD GPU which while reasonably fine tuned they knew could be churned out. Then there's the most custom thing the GamePad which is really just a really "thin" tablet. Screen, touch input, buttons and a 5Ghz WiFi chip. Stuff most people probably already had lying around the house. The WiiMote was an accelerometer, speaker, bluetooth module and an IR camera.
None of this "Holographic disk technologies" stuffs just existing tech used in creative ways.
even if they are planning something like this, it's still at least 3-5 years off, there's no way they would have finalized specs so soon.
i really hope that the fusion idea and 4k is something they actually do. i dont know if ps4 and xb1 do 4k resolution, but that would sure be a good thing for nintendo to have the highest resolution available. not sure about the specs listed, but it better be very beefy in terms of power and graphics, maybe now that they admit they've misread the market and are going to try and appease western gamers they will actually do something like that.
