I hope that's true,the Wara Wara plaza could do with a face lift.I moaned before about them charging $2 for 3DS themes,saying they should be free but I'd probably pay more than that for a new Wii U theme.

Yeah the photo is a shop, a demonstration, but the rumour is still around. It seems highly likely they would do this at some point anyway.

I agree and I think that, if this rumor is true, this update could be part of a Wii U 2015-2016 relaunch! E3 hype!

honestly, Wii U is a very underestimated console. Iwata itself says that Wii U probably isn’t peoples’ first console of choice.
as you saw for splatoon they are doing a very good promo. starting by global testfire: an atypical demo done on purpose to increment sales! and commercials, catchy music, free dlc, etc
maybe they become aware by the past marketing mistakes...so it's never too late! I hope that this time is the right time!
I am very hopeful with E3 2015! It's time of new life for our Wii U!

Yeah I feel like up until last years e3 (even a little past that) Nintendo had no idea how to market the console. The first ads they had for the Wii u was just a family playing together. I remember thinking "they showed the console for like 5 seconds". And then a there's the name, the name was just a dumb idea to begin with.

But now, they really seem to be turning things around and that leaves me very excited for e3 this year!

Sorry, but a relaunch isn't happening at this point. Most of the big hitters are already out. The best the Wii U can do is weather the storm until the next console.

Not really, the only big hitters out are 2D Mario (NSMBU), 2D DK (DKCTF), fake 3D Mario (SM3DW), Mario Kart (MK8) and Smash (SSBU). There's still MK8 and SSBU support to come (probably for MK8, certain for SSBU) and maybe even MP10, real 3D Mario could happen (like 64, Sunshine, Galaxy), Zelda (Zelda U got delayed to 2016), a better 2D Mario (Mario Maker), Animal Crossing U is almost certain at this point, Paper Mario could happen.

Then comes the possible big hitters for the hardcore crowd (Star Fox U confirmed, Metroid could happen, new IPs exist, etc.)
