It's extremely unlikely, but I would love an HD remake of the original Metroid Prime with updates physics and a graphical overhaul. An inclusion of the lost Kraid boss battle would be icing on the cake.
I think I'd be content with HD remakes of the original Prime games (on the side as filler, each game release stretched out for the next 5 years) if Nintendo could also be working on a new IP simultaneously.
Kinda like what Nintendo did with Wind Waker HD (filler until the Wii U Zelda game) but with a little more work done.
Another Prime game also would be awesome, but knowing Nintendo and their creative team they probably don't want the series to become stale instead opting for a new direction/IP.
@afro_insomniac I think it's too soon for a Metroid Prime HD. But I think Nintendo's next home console would be alright for it. Plus, the graphics will only be able to be better on the next home console.
Isn't this a bit too soon to discuss? Our imaginations will go wild, leading to massive expectations, leading to seriously massive hype, leading to an epic letdown of epic proportions...
@ZyroXZ2 That's only if you allow yourself to get hyped up and have exaggerated expectations. I don't think it's ever a wrong time to discuss a video game franchise and now actually seems like a good time to speculate since we're all curious what direction they'll take Metroid in next.

You'd be amazed how toxic "speculation" can be, hahaha
I know Metroid was originally inspired by Alien, but Prime 3 seemed more like Doctor Who...
I would like to see the franchise return to some more horror-like roots, but it still needs to be an action game. I'd kind of like to see Phazon, X, and Metroids all wrapped up into one story. We still don't know under what conditions Metroids metamorphosize, or if Phaaze was the only planet of it's kind.
If there are multiplayer modes, I don't think Samus should be in them. Samus has always been a loner character, so working together with others in any fashion seems out of place. I'd rather see some new characters if the co-op or multiplayer have any sort of story.
@Neoproteus Phazon was stated to be the source of all Phazon in Prime 3, so I don't think so. X would be interesting to see return, but I have a feeling they're all extinct too. Maybe the next game will introduce a new threat like those two, though.

Its been this way since Super Metroid (I wouldn't call the first two horror-like, but that's just me). Every game since has had elements of horror mixed in with the traditional action gameplay. Fusion's entire premise, Prime 1's opening in Frigate Orpheon, Prime 2's opening with the zombie-GF troopers as well as her encounters with the Ing and Dark Samus, Prime 3's optional quest in the abandoned GFS Valhalla ship, even Other M had horrific-implied imagery when it came to the GF trooper's and scientist's corpses. ("he looks like a pile of rags.")
