I like Mario platforming, don't care about other genres of Mario but hasn't the amount of Mario related titles gotten a bit ridiculous? they are going to kill the franchise by oversaturating the market with Mario related titles...
Mario is basically Nintendo's mascot. They practically make gold out of almost anything they put the little plumber in. I would like more Mario games, but not too much.
that seems like a fair ammount of Mario games, the DS and Wii had way more Mario games and I don't remember people who actually play Nintendo games complaining much.
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

That's actually been par for the course since the N64/Game Boy era...in fact, I'd argue the GCN/GBA had the biggest glut of Mario games. (I'd also argue that they had the best Mario games...)
Mario is by far the most successful video game IP of all time. Nothing else comes remotely close. The runner up, Pokemon, lags in sales by nearly 50%.
So if you don't want any more Mario, tell everyone to stop buying his games in ludicrous quantities.
He says in ludicrous quantities because he in a ridiculous number of games compares to any other character in the genre. I like Mario, so I don't mind so much, but I do wish some of the other Nintendo favorites could get a bit more screentime. Mario doesn't need to be in every single first party title Nintendo makes.
I don't mind seeing the "Mario World" in Nintendo software. That is what Nintendo is most about anyway, and it's a pretty big world to flush out. I only wish there was more variety like the "splatoon" type games. But, it's the market that speaks, and for some reason gamers seem to prefer the tried-and-true franchises from ALL the software makers....or perhaps it's the accountants that prefer that.
This also goes with movies, and movie studios, that prefer to 'reboot' an existing franchise instead of making characters from scratch.

This. Back on the Gamecube there were four Mario Parties, four Mario sports games, Mario Dance Dance Revolution (lol) and Mario even invaded NBA Street and SSX, in addition to the usual 3D Mario and Mario Kart. Then there's the insane amount of remakes on GBA. If anything the Mario glut is smaller now.
Donkey Kong is it's own brand by this point so it barely even counts.

Definitely. In fact, if you exclude spin-offs like Mario Kart and Mario Sports, Mario's numbers aren't nearly as impressive. But it's still #1. Just Super Mario platformers, no other form of Mario, have more worldwide sales than Pokemon's total 66 games.
Looking at average sales per game though, something like Grand Theft Auto is more impressive. Which is a little sad, in my opinion, but I digress.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Judging by the sales of Mario 3D World, someone already did! In all seriousness though, one could look at the disappointing sales of 3D World and the massive drop-off in sales of the second two New Super Mario Bros. games from the first two as evidence that perhaps they have put out too many Super Mario games in quick succession of late and exhausted the market. Even though I don't entirely agree with fert's list as while a lot of the those game may feature Mario or Mario's companions, they're not strictly Mario games, just based in the Mario universe.

Amount of profit made per generation (With cost making the games taking off) is a better metric.

This is nintendo were talking about. They'll make everything interesting. And give Mario credit. Did save gaming back in the day. Was the first franchise nintendo made. Mario will never die. That day will be the end of nintendo's days. If your so worried about it. Buy more Mario games and make the moment last.

The only TRUE Mario games on the Wii U so far are NSMBU and 3D World. The rest are spin offs and doesn't really count imo. (Still, i'd like more NEW IPs as much as the next guy/girl)
