Speaking of DLC, it'd be neat to see the game in Paper Mario style, as unlikely as it may be. And also, maybe the amiibo/character costumes could get an update after release so they'd be usable beyond the original Super Mario Bros style.

No one (that I'm aware of) has taken my design idea, but it's something I'm sure someone else, somewhere has the same idea. Hope I can get it out first. I should start designing it on my drawing pad, so I don't take a lot of time in the editor.
Thinking on my idea, has anyone seen if after beating a boss you can make blocks disappear, or a pipe appear? Or is it only battle and done, no alteration to the environment?
Nope. There are no enemy drops, and you can't sent something to appear after a boss is defeated. You're going to need to find some creative way around it to implement a mandatory boss battle.
Sorry that I missed the boat on this, can someone confirm for me that the 8-bit Mario amiibo is exclusive to buying the physical Super Mario Maker and is not available it's own or with the digital version of the game?
Rimmer: "Look, I think we've all got something to bring to this conversation, but I think that from now on the thing you should bring is silence."
Homer: "Oh people can come up with statistics to prove anything Kent. Forfty percent of all people know that."

Well from what I can tell it does appear to be available separately so unless there's some weird regional differences. That said here at least the Amiibo bundle is $10 more than the game by itself and the Amiibo is $17. That plus the fact that you get the booklet on day 1 in that package? I think this is one where the physical release is a better deal.

@LztheQuack: The point of the level is to do math while on moving platforms, but you can see the entire level in the title screen if you're looking through courses, so you can do the math before you enter (or you can see which one has the door).
@Megumi, The Game Theorist played it on today's livestream, but the video is now private. But the level had math equations written with blocks, and then there will be multiple (one-way) pathways with a number next to it. The number that's the solution to the equation is the correct pathway, and you go there and continue.
Looks like it's heading for about a 90 on metacritic if this average is representative. I wonder if this will outsell Splatoon. I'm guessing so. Wider appeal n all.
On another note, it does remind me of an old review score a certain magazine gave WarioWare DIY. They basically gave it 100% because it let them make games and they considered their own games perfect. Wonder if anyone will say the same about Mario Maker?
