It was working and I was playing Mario with it (although the D-Pad sucks! - pressing Left or Right partially presses Down also).
Then I tried ZombiU but the game wasn't recognising it (especially not as a Pro Controller which is the reason I got it), so I decided to try re-pairing it as a controller and in doing so I think I killed it.
I though it might be the battery but its plugged in now and there is no light on the battery indicator even.

Mine cut out several times. I found finding a pin and pushing the reset button on the back 3 or 4 times quickly would bring it back to life.
oh! And yeah this DOES NOT work as a Pro Controller. It is a Classic Controller or Wii remote ONLY!
Thanks for the vid skywake
I'm just gonna avoid this controller all together now. LOL
I got the SNES purple button one from GameStop. That guy in the video forgot to push the reset button. It sets the controller to fresh factory default. You need to do that after you unbox it. I'm playing Super Smash Brawl with it now.

Well as long as your enjoying it! Then good, I ended up getting a Wii U Pro controller. xD
@MonkeyKidd
Watch the video again. He used it for a bit before it died so clearly was able to get it working. If you need to push a reset button every time you use it then well that's hardly ideal. Better than dead but not what you'd call a quality piece of hardware. Even if it was just a one off (maybe) or Vooks (dude in video) is an idiot (unlikely) it still looks pretty cheap and nasty. I'd avoid it all together on build quality alone and I'd suggest others do the same.
Plus the official Pro Controller is only $10AU or so more. So why would I bother with this? For the SNES colour theme? I don't think so. Cool that you're happy with it it but I'm going to pass.
Thanks skywake. The controller build is high quality and durable. I don't have too much money, so the $39 cost (in USA) cost fits my tight budget. I'm playing through my Wii library again. Kinda cool to play Resident Evil Darkside with a controller in hand. I found this video showing the strong build quality.
