Is called that... "The Legend of Zelda for Wii U", or even just "The Legend of Zelda", I'm going to be very disappointed. The name of each individual adventure is part of the whole feel of the world for me. I have a very strong feeling they will do either of these, as they seem to be hyping this as a sort of rebirth of the series, so it would fit, but, I just don't like it.
Xenoblade Chronicles X was a poor choice (Same name as it's predecessor but with an X), along with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (Couldn't follow the trend of Melee and Brawl? Mayhem? Rumble? There are hundreds of options to fall in line with the series norm), and although Mario Kart 8 isn't a BAD name, it just kind of seemed uninspired, but this could be due to my expectation that it would be called Mario Kart: U Turn since it just seemed so perfect, lol.
Anyways, I hope Zelda gets a cool subtitle. Am I alone in this line of thinking?
The Legend of Zelda has always been a placeholder name. This is no different.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Xenoblade Chronicles X isn't a bad name!!!! I think its cool and unique!!!! Sakurai already explained the reasoning behind naming Super Smash Bros. For (4) Wii U and 3DS. Of course Legend of Zelda U isn't its real name.... Come on!!!!
I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

To be fair only the GBA and GC ones had an interesting name and even then only Double Dash was even half descriptive of the game. Which TBH is why I don't really mind them calling Smash Bros just "Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS" because that literally says all you need to know. Brawl didn't really tell you anything about the game, they could have used that name for these new ones and you wouldn't say "that doesn't make sense".
With Zelda though they always use the title to somehow describe the game or story with the exception of the first. If they told us what the full title was now that would be one less thing they can announce at a later date.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

I don't think it's a bad name but adding a X isn't unique, it's been done so many times before.
I can see them simply using "The Legend of Zelda" with no subtitle and I kind of like it if it's appropriate and really is a rebirth of the series. If it's just another chapter in the saga, then there should be a subtitle. I can see them going either way. If it's a rebirth of the series, then you want people to know that and make it sound like this is the definitive Zelda game and they have to play it. Not having a subtitle can help convey this.
I think slapping "for Wii U" at the end is just being lazy. I'm ok with that for action/sports games that don't really have a story but not games like Zelda.
I just want to say, if this game is as good as Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask, or The Wind Waker with modern gaming's advancements I'll just die. It's been 8 years, 8 YEARS since the last great 3D Zelda, maybe we'll finally get a fifth great 3D Zelda.
I am actually more concerned with the game than the title. Or subtitle.
And if this is Nintendo's Skyrim, I hope they spare us the glitches.
I love all Bethesda Studios games, but they're all so full of glitches and bugs and crashes. Too much going on in the world, and the machines can't handle it.
