Well I know it wont go the way of the Dreamcast simply because it is Nintendo (Sega was struggling for years before the Dreamcast fell). Plus I don't care if all those "Hardcore Gamers" move from Microsoft to Nintendo (I'm not going to put Sony on the same level as Microsoft, they don't deserve that), I just don't want them to ruin for me something that I love. I'm enjoying the heck out of my Wii U and I use it almost constantly when I'm home. The thing is they're spreading undeserved hate all over the internet for no other purpose then to spread hate! What kind of person does that? A person with no self-esteem! What kind of generation do we have coming into our beloved gaming industry?
I like how you complain about trolls and people spreading hate for the sake of hate, and then do exactly the same thing yourself. Good form.
I think he means he respects Sony more than Microsoft.
So? The guy complains about people "bashing" on Nintendo, and then proceeds to take a swipe at Microsoft. Or Sony. One or the other, his statement is a little vague.
It doesn't really matter which one he's taking a swing at. Point is, he's taking a swing after saying people shouldn't take a swing at Nintendo.
I meet blows with swings my friend, it's how someone backed into a corner reacts.

Be the bigger man and walk away next time.
Isn't that basically what I did? Instead of getting into a senseless internet fight I come over here to vent. Sounds like a reasonable solution to me.

MiiVerse is populated with people who have seen the content out there, been convinced by it gone out and paid for the game. It's far from perfect. Better than randoms on the internet because at least you know whether or not they've used it. Not as good as a reviewer who has no attachment to the thing in question at all.
Anything short of a game-breaking bug or glaring omission will be met with praise on MiiVerse. Hardly the medium to go to for purchasing decisions, awesome for asking specific non-subjective questions.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
Since I got Miiverse I noticed that I am less interested in reading reviews for certain games that are out and I am interested in.
I'd rather browse the community in the Miiverse and look for the reactions of people who are playing the games.
You do realise that a review is a 'reaction of a person who has played the game,' right?
The difference is that the typical review is far more articulate and credible than a "lol this game is awesome" or "not funky enough lol" - both are genuine MiiVerse comment, and both are useless compared to an actual review.

I wouldn't call the responses on miiverse useless at all. While a review is only one "reaction of a person who has played the game" the miiverse responses are the collective reactions of many and are more likely to be by those who have a strong opinion because they have to take the time to make a response. In my opinion they are both quite valuable and not really comparable.

Yeah I like how you can take a screenshot from the TV or gamepad and chuck it on miiverse and write something stupid (that's my main use)... Can't do that on anything else other than a PC but with alot less rooting around

A game review takes far, far, far longer to write than a MiiVerse post takes.
MiiVerse is no different than Twitter. It's good for a snapshot, but comparing the typical MiiVerse user to a game critic is like comparing the typical Twitter user to a New York Times writer.
Looking at posts on MiiVerse as a way to judge the quality of a game is like looking at user reviews on any website.... except everyone owns the console and you know if they own the game. You usually get some number of people giving it 9s or 10s and another bunch giving it 1s and 2s. On MiiVerse you get the same except it's heavily skewed towards the 9s and 10s. Tells you nothing about where it sits on the scale of "worth getting or not".
MiiVerse gives you the sort of response you'd get if you did a vox-pop in a Nintendo Press event at e3 and asked people what they thought of Nintendo's showing. The internet is like doing the same vox-pop on the showroom floor from people who might or might not have seen it. A review is like taking a random person to all of the conferences and asking them to give them all a rating out of ten. Metacritic is like that last one but with 100 people and you take the average.

Great analogy. Would change one thing:
A review is like going through all the attendees at a conference, and picking the most experienced and qualified one and asking for his/ her opinion.
Don't forget. MiiVerse people are fine, but they're normal people. The typical critic is trained to be an expert in game analysis.
You should put your radio on AM for a bit and have a listen to talkback radio. The internet for the over 60s and pretty much the same level of crap you see on the internet.....
except that the mod is the troll and will delete posts from anyone who wants to calm things down......
An astute observation - so you're in Alan Jones and John Laws country, I take it

How many people actually read these comprehensive reviews made by 'more qualified' people? I mean really, don't the majority of readers just skip down to the bottom to see what the score is? People want a simple answer: Is the game worth getting, yes or no? If a decent amount of people say yes to that question then thats good enough.

nah, they do create waves that reach all the way over here though. Still see it on even the tamer talkback radio shows and I suspect that there's much worse than Jones and Laws in other countries.

If that's all you want use a coin instead of a critic. People have different tastes and desires and it's impossible to make a blanket suggestion that will cover everyone. For example I like dream pop, experimental music and distortion so a reviewer might give an album a five and be complaining about the how the whacky sounds and distorted guitar make the soft vocals difficult to hear. I might read that and say "cool, that's what I'm into" and maybe have a bit more of a listen to it. A score doesn't tell me everything I need to know.
BUT I'm not liking the sheer lack of 3rd party games being missed on the WiiU
I'd sell my PS3 if games like far cry 3, hitman etc came out but they haven't and probably never will.
Shame as the hardware and user interface is great.
As with most Nintendo console's lack of 3rd party support is putting me off a little

Judging from my own website's analytical, a massive percentage. Of course my website targets a more academic demographic than most game sites, but there are plenty of people out there that realise that reviews are not there solely for buying advice.
