A nice thing about this game is that you can often change your play style during the level, depending how much challenge you want.
For example, you can just raise all alarms and then eliminate all enemies one by one with the guns. That's fun enough, and maybe like that you can finish the game in seven hours.
Or, you can sneak up on soldiers... use your binoculars to notice how they act... mark them on the map... try to eliminate silently as many as you can... then place some traps and lure the others in the landmines... or maybe snipe some explosive gas barrels near them to do lots of damage. That is harder to do and requires lots of thinking and restarting (luckily it doesn't reload the entire level, so there is no waiting). It will take you longer to finish the game, playing it like that.
You get points for each skillful kill. After you finish a level, you almost always feel like you could have done better. There's a lot of potential to replay a level: from discovering a position from where you can snipe two soldiers with only one bullet... to placing some dynamite in a square and then sniping it from a rooftop.. or just setting up an clever network of landmines and tripmines.
I normally don't like shooters, but I like this game and Zombi U, because they require lots of thinking and you can play them at your own pace.
The console will sell, but then EA will still complain that the Wii U audience is not in the market for their products. And they're right, because the new customers will buy the Wii U to play colorful, family-friendly platform games - not gray, sadistic shooters.
This is also an excellent game. I'm playing it right now, and I find that the updated version is excellent for the handheld, with short but intense levels.
Some people wanted a Wii U, but were waiting to see if the next consoles were going to offer the same experience. And now it is more clear that you can safely own both a Wii U & one of the other two consoles. They will not overlap, in terms of the experience they provide.
The Xbox reveal was quite cool, in my opinion (and I'm not an Xbox owner or fan). The console offers a nice upgrade for its own target audience. More non-gaming features, which is something that the Xbox audience has come to expect and enjoy. Ofcourse, it will have graphics that the Wii U will be unable to match.
But the box is big, and it will most likely cost a lot of money in the first years.
I love my 3DS (unlike some of the guys commenting on this web site, I actually own one). I think that the original model look way cooler than the XL edition.
It's not difficult. But it's a game that makes you think. So normally, if you get the option to complain at the first difficulty, you will go to Miiverse. It is to be expected with puzzle games.
From what I have seen, many (if not most) of the people that commented negatively about this game did not bother to buy it. They commented from what they read in other reviews and/or seen on YouTube.
Awesome news. I do not own a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360, and was never motivated to buy one - but I will buy Wii U releases of such tried-and-proven games. I have already preordered Sniper Elite v2 on the Wii U.
What creeps me out is that those hating on remakes are all adults. I mean, they must be old enough to have played the other games. Think about it: grown-ups, frothing at the mouth with anger like spoiled children... over what? Video games...
These consoles are made with feedback from game developer studios.
As such, I am sure that Nintendo knew exactly, during Wii U's development, what the specifications of the other upcoming consoles were going to be.
Nintendo never intended to make a machine that would replace the PS4 or the next Xbox console.
Most game developers are probably going to stop simultaneously releasing games for both generations in 2015. So the Wii U is going to get some multiplatform games from the end of 2013, into 2014, and maybe at the start of 2015. After this, they will need to be again a niche that offers something entirely different than the other consoles.
Most likely, all this was part of Nintendo's plan.
I am curious about the 2013 holidays. There will be five different videogame machines available.
I expect that 2013 will be so-so for the Wii U. Then 2014 will be awesome. And I am really curious to see how 2015 will turn out.
Wow, this actually is a fantastic week for the 3DS eShop. Two cool demos for games that I had on preorder, and a 3DS game that attracts me a lot and will probably be purchased this evening.
I am happy that this game will be available on the Wii U. Let's hope that the gameplay will be fun.
Given the choice between:
a) more particle effects on the Playstation 4 and
b) clever GamePad use on the Wii U,
...then I am definitely choosing the Wii U version.
I have to say that, after playing Zombi U, I felt that Assassins Creed 3 on Wii U was lacking something. In ZombiU, the GamePad added a very involving layer of strategy; for example, in managing your weapons and ammo before venturing in an unknown area.
I find it funny that they knew exactly what sort of sleazes Kotaku are, and they expertly avoided the interviewer's bait (such as trying to get them to criticize something - anything - about Nintendo or the Wii U).
I honestly do not see why the LEGO games would be worthy of an award. Good games, yes, but award material? Do they contribute to advancing the industry?
In contrast, Nintendoland is something new. It takes considerable risks today to even try to come up with fresh ways of enjoying videogames.

Normally with console launches you usually get very short games that are clever, but get criticized for not having "enough content".
