Topic: Do gamers underestimate the impact of a quickly replaced console that hasnt fully satisfied customers?

When I see NX hype, im mostly surprised to see how little voices I see about people abandoning nintendo alltogether because of the fact of how short WII U's lifespand was and how they gave up meeting its clear potential.

I am one of those people. I dont give a damn about NX. I am not even interested in its reveal or any news. I hate it when people bring it up to conslude the WII U support is going to die.

Look guys. I am not a rich person, and I doubt most of consumers are. I put down 300€ for this console and I really love it, but I love its potential even more. I will not get the NX if WII U gets replaced this year and I will consider Nintendo as a "quitter" and a loser. I honestly think before Nintendo goes on, they still need to put down some great games. Give me a metroid, give me a big mario game. Paper mario is coming at least if rumors are true

Personally I dont think this anger towards Nintendo by consumers who put down their hard earned cash for a WII U is a small crowd. They may be quiet, or maybe they just said f*** it and went with the other consoles/PC, to just leave it at that and not bother anymore.

Personally I have always felt that despite WII U being a failure, it was a nescesity for Nintendo to satisfy its buyers before going forward. I hope they do. But what do you guys think that the consequences will be? Am I blowing this up or is it severly underestimated by most gamers?

@DJaa: Most of us don't complain, because we all know that whatever Nintendo is releasing this year isn't a home console

On a more serious note, unless a miracle happens, I don't see Nintendo succesfully releasing a new home console this year, so I don't think they'll do that. NX was mentioned too early anyway, I doubt we'd know about it if Iwata never said anything about it.

It's definitely a fair point. I don't agree, but definitely a fair point.

Every time Nintendo releases a new game system, I'm buying it. Because I know I'll enjoy the systems from Nintendo. I'm a gamer.

At the moment people worry about the state of the market, they seem to lose enjoyment and become pessimistic. Market dynamics are boring. They interest me because I'm strange, but not because I need them for enjoyment.

Nintendo could release a new system within a month and I'd buy it. I'd be gaming on it. And I'll probably love it.

@DJaa: I think if the Wii U's replacement comes out in 2016 then we'll be seeing history repeat itself where Nintendo takes the role of SEGA when they released the Dreamcast (Wii U = Saturn). If however the 3DS replacement is in 2016 and the Wii U's replacement is in late 2017 then I think Nintendo will be fine as 5 years is a reasonable lifecycle when compared to previous Nintendo consoles.

@DJaa: I bought my Wii U day one and have loved it. Great console. Nintendo don't owe me anything more than that really. There's no 'anger' from me.

@Grumblevolcano: As an OG SEGA fan that turned into a nintendo appreciator, I can relate to this. Mind you saturn was a lot worse, but it gutted me a lot with anything that came after. Needless to say, as a SEGA fan I didnt care and moved on to dreamcast, but the damage was too big in the bigger picture. My point to the nintendo die hards. You may be ready for the next thing, but the damage may impact you more than you expect. IE if there's little goodwill but instead worry and concern, there will be little hype fueling others. Not only that, the loss of anticipation from people who anticipated the wii u will be absent this time. Hence possible bad sales. Hence little support again

NX can be whatever. But I will not be there untill I get the feeling the wii u wasnt wasted money. Like I said. Im not rich and many people arent. Putting down 300 better be worth it

@TheLastLugia: Anger isnt the right word. Its more lack of interest. You as a nintendlifer and most likely a nintrndo fan as part of th few 12 million owning the WII U. You are not their issue because you're easy to satisfy. Most people are not. Especially with how much time is already consumed by so many devices nowadays, plus internet concensus playing big role today. If the people who were excited for wii u are full of cynisism now towards the next thing, it wont help in generating excitement and pulling many with them for a reveal meeting its potential in general interest

@DJaa: all I got from that is your bad grammar. Oh and your presumption that you know anything at all about me. Which you don't FYI. I'd keep your presumptions to yourself in future. And get your school to sack their English teacher(s).

@TheLastLugia:

There was no presumptions btw. I just based my thoughts on your "im fine with it" stance. Im putting that in perspective of the bigger picturr. You may not think of yourself as one thats easily satisfied, but others may be less easy to satisfy and more liken to cynicism. I think maybe you shouldnt be so sensitive. The shot at my grammar was a low blow. But if that makes you feel better than me then cool. Enjoy the moment

@DJaa: it wasn't a low blow at all more than stating the obvious I think, I don't care about you or 'feeling better than you' just take 10 seconds to proof read what you type and it will be taken seriously by others. Just advice from me to you, as I'm pretty sure even the site guidelines promote using your best English at all times.

And again 'others that may be less easy to satisfy' I'd like to see them myself, 'cause I'm a skeleton with very high standards!

@TheLastLugia: its a low blow because it reeks of arrogance to be frank is a bit childish. This is my best english. Its not my native language. Have a good day

@DJaa: OK then I meant no offence honestly, if you'd explained sooner that it's not your first language I would've understood and called it a day there. No need to start throwing insults around, it just makes you look easily offended and, well, childish. You have a nice day too

Shinion

DJaa

Lmfao. First I thought you were going to be sincere, but then you dissapoint with the last part. Its cool. It should go without saying that nintendo isnt only liked by native english speakers. Keep that in mind and next time thread derails like this wont be nescesary.

@DJaa: dude I apologised and wished you a pleasant day like you did to me. What more do you want from me, grovel at your feet and end my comments with 'yes sir'? I'll admit I should've considered that you're not a native English speaker but when I saw your critique of my opinion having a grammatical error in every sentence I couldn't take you seriously. You're just grasping at things to have a go at me for at this point, so please just take my advice, apologies and my wish for you to have a pleasant day and move on.

Shinion

DJaa

I apologies. No worries we're cool.

@Yellowkoopa: How do you see NX's potential succes after this? Do you expect it to be possible to do well after Wii U's treatment and Wii U owner remorse with how quick it will supposedly be replaced?

DJaa

jariw

@DJaa: FWIW, Iwata did address your concerns during some of the past quarterly investor meetings. He mentioned the importance of having satisfied Wii U customers when moving forward, and a "Nintendo solution" to the issue. Whatever that is...

@Yellowkoopa: Do you want to bet? If Nintendo announces one more major Wii U title, you will never post on NintendoLife ever again after that announcement. If Nintendo hasn't announced one more major Wii U title by August 1st 2016, I will never post on NintendoLife ever again after that date. Sounds good?

@TingLz: This is just inaccurate. Since the release MK8, the Wii U sales has been linear (world wide) and very steady, even if the levels has been low. The attach rate on (good) recent Wii U software has been good to excellent. There has been no peak or highest point.

jariw

DJaa

@jariw: Wow thanks for mentioning that... I think we may see that solution soon then.

In all likelihood, the system released this year will be a handheld.

I wouldn't worry.
