I just wanted to point out that there's a survey on club.nintendo.com right now basically asking how interested you are in online multiplayer. You get 10 points for filling it out. I think this should be a story on the front page so everyone can see it. Nintendo needs to know that people want online play, it should be a given for the times. If you've hated their lack of online play now's your chance to let them know.
It's also for randomly selected Club Nintendo members apparently
Really..? That's pretty dumb. This is definitely something that should go out to everyone, whether they care about online or not. Hopefully that changes. I've actually complained about not having online before in other surveys so I'm glad I got this one.

Think of it as a focus group or random sample. I doubt they'd want to read tens of thousands of replies, though they could make the numbering questions available for everyone

I got the survey, I tried to tell them Online is important but don't forget about couch gaming either.
Couch gaming and online gaming can be the same thing. I'd almost expect and want them to be the same thing when it comes to Nintendo. I'm still buying SM3DWorld when it's released but it'd be nice to play online with people. Considering all of my friends have jobs and lives and we barely ever get together.. and if that happened only one of them would even want to play Mario. That's why it'd be nice to hop online with people whether I know them or not. Same goes for Mario Party, I won't even buy that now because there isn't online play. I know 1 person who owns a 3DS and he wouldn't ever buy the game. If it was online, I'd highly consider it.. I completely expected it to have online and was extremely disappointed to hear that it didn't. Sorry.. now I'm kind of ranting.

I agree but Online gaming is normally much more competitive while couch gaming, in my opinion, is more about having fun. I have played countless hours of Xbox Live with friends but there is always the focus on winning. When we play on a couch together there is a much more focus having fun and sharing good times. For me at least, there is a different atmosphere when playing online and when playing on a couch together which means there is a different need for GamePlay
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Yeah, I figured that's what you meant when you said couch gaming. I'd kind of find it hard to find competition in a game like mario for example, unless you're purposely racing to the finish.. but online and competitive does come hand-in-hand. It's almost unavoidable I guess, even co-op can become a fight for the high score. I know when I was playing Luigi Mansion online I was always trying hard to get the high score.. it's just natural and fun to beat people, even though they're on the same team. I think the Nintendo crowd is a lot different though, compared to people on xbox live. It's hard to think all the obnoxious people from Halo/COD would find their way into a Nintendo online gaming.. never know though.
On another note.. I just think games like Pikmin 3 would be amazing online. Same goes for Wonderful 101.. I think that a VS mode in wonderful 101 would have been a great addition and would really put your skills to the test.
Hope Nintendo makes it possible for everyone to join nintendo club eventually.. : /
seconded, my country also has no club Nintendo...

Glad to hear that you guys are telling them how you feel about the online, I was worried I'd get a lot of "who cares about online" comments. It just seems like a lot of Nintendo fans just don't care about online or they're worried about it effecting their single player gameplay. I don't think that's something to worry about, especially with a game like Mario 3D World or Mario Party.. games built around multiplayer.
I dont mind online multiplayer what I do mind is games having only online multiplayer. If they have online I dont see why they can't also have offline multiplayer,
