Someone who's like Pinkie Pie or Mabel Pines only isn't. Can someone like Nintendo make a character like this work?

I'm sure they can - the question is: do they want to? Cloudcuckoolanders are often very similar to each other, and creating a more unique character on the basis of such a specific sterotype is kinda difficult.

The fact that Pinkie Pie is a pony isn't relevant, the OP is talking about using a similar characterization on a female character that is most likely not a pony.

lol that's how it sounds pretty much. I'm all for bubbly personalities on a character, but they shouldn't be weak. I can't stand weak characters that pander to people. I think your example of Mabel is better than... Pinkie pie..... No offense, but eww.

Pascal is the only one of those that I'm familiar with. Couldn't stand her, but I kept her in my party anyway because her AoE was insane. It would be nice to have had that insane AoE without my ears bleeding.
