Like, just to put it simply. I don't like Pewdiepie. But if Pewdiepie gave a game I made coverage, I think the millions of dollars from people buying it might make that irrelevant. You don't anger the people who bring in these types of numbers. Opinions become irrelevant at that point. And I don't find it be helpful to even bother. It's been proven over and over again that hating something is a good way to make it more well known and usually more popular. Personally, I hope all the people finding success on Youtube would otherwise try to be writers. That way I have way less competition in the future.

I mean, Nintendo could continue to not allow people to monetize. But Nintendo could also stop advertising video games. That doesn't mean I would find it to be a smart marketing move.

As another thing, I don't like Beyonce, but she was in a commercial for Rhythm Heaven on the DS and that might be the reason some people bought Rhythm Heaven so I'm happy Beyonce was overexposed if it meant people got to play Rhythm Heaven.

^^^ Thank you

Also @Defhalan I hate calling you out because it seems like I'm targeting you, but I'm honestly not trying too. But games and movies are also not the same way of comparing it, I only brought up MST3000 because I wanted to show that people have been making a profit off this kind of stuff forever and I just wanted to show that people shouldn't get upset that this is people's livelihood. However...games are almost never experienced in the same way, you will almost never have people play a game, lets use Super Mario 64 as an example, the same way another person would. People get lost, people try different tactics, people try different courses, some people 100% others speed run as fast as possible. There are a lot of examples of that. So in no way do I think that it should be treated the same as movies, heck I think it should be more lenient on games because most people will watch a movie the same way unlike a game (even though they get different things out of a movie). They provide the input for the characters and they provide the commentary as well as any editing, Nintendo provides the base of that. Should Nintendo get a section of the profit? Sure. However, Nintendo is not always going to be the reason people go to those videos, they go for the people.

Also as for that split profit thing, that is only been confirmed in Japan as far as I can tell, otherwise if you have a source feel free to share it with me to make sure I have all the little info I need.

For the record, I do hate much of what people hate about popular youtubers, so don't assume I'm defending it blindly. I'm just looking at this logically and my opinion simply leads to everyone doing better. Barring maybe the games that would've been covered other than Nintendo I guess.

I find that whenever this YouTube stuff comes up there are always two sides that appear that aren't really against each other. I side is saying "Nintendo shouldn't be doing this" the other side is saying "Nintendo has every right to do this" I am on both sides, I just normally argue the second side more. Would it be smart for Nintendo to allow more of this? Maybe. But they have every right to "protect" their copyrighted material.

On the one hand, I agree with everything kkslider5552000 said.

On the other, Joe should just suck it up and press the mute button. His loyal viewers went out of their way to donate a system and games to him, if he's really that popular I'd think he could afford to be just a bit more obliging.

Except Nintendo DOES allow monetization. They just take a certain percentage of the ad revenue. And if he does get so many views, then why is he making such a big deal?

You forget one thing: Nintendo does not need Angry Joe. There are many other Youtubers who push Nintendo games like crazy who get a lot of views. Plus, most of the people who need Youtube are small developers, whereas Nintendo is a very well known company.

I don't like Nintendo's policies about Videos and Youtube's terrible copyright protection methods simply because as an end consumer, it means less stuff I get to watch on Youtube, and there aren't that many good alternatives (especially now that Daily Motion seems to have adopted a method similar to Youtube's). I don't care that some deadbeat can't make money off his videos - this world doesn't need more entertainers, it needs skilled workers who can actually get things done.

The ones who should care, though, is Youtube, above all else. They're the ones who will lose the most on stories like these. They're the one who need to change things, or else face the consequences. As Lz said, Nintendo doesn't need those Youtubers to promote their games. They have their own advertising teams to do that. Angry Joe can find other methods to get money, like Patreon or Blip...or get a real, perhaps part-time Job, considing how many videos he does make. But Youtube is the one that needs content for people to view, and once they start losing content creators, they're gonna lose their audience, especially if another video site gains ground.

I already said this, but no one understood. In the end, I'm emotionally indifferent to all of this. The only point I was trying to make, was that Angry Joe's viewers got him him a Wii U and he should follow through on reviews, because that's why he got one in the first place.

There's a lot of things people can post and b**** about, and this is on the lower end of that list, no doubt. YouTube approves, whether it matters is an opinion, etc.

Yea, back to AngryJoe himself - why so much hate? Is it cool to hate him now? I didn't get the memo. I actually REALLY like his stuff. Yea, he's mostly a PC/Xbox guy, but I own those platforms, too, so I can relate to most of what he's talking about. Yea, I really didn't like the way he totally wrote off this year's CoD and didn't give it much of a chance, but that doesn't mean that all of his stuff becomes meaningless. Some people really need to exercise moderation and take their time when it comes to judging others.

Well, I dislike him because he's a boring entertainer and...not a very good reviewer most of the time. Honestly, I didn't even know people still watched his videos, especially since they don't seem to have gotten much better since 2010...

LOL. If everyone would actually think about judging him, he would go down the youtube fast and down to hell to rot, where he belongs for his disgusting greed.

And you can relate to him because he owns PC? So much Angry Sanchez (that's what he called himself, actually - or something like that) and... so... Vanilla. Then you can relate to everyone in this topic - most of people, if not all, own a PC here.

Also what I've said earlier and this

I would call him a boring reviewer, but he's not even that.

The way I see it, is that if you are making ANY amount of money off of YouTube, there really is no way to complain. I think it is on a smaller scale than the Flappy Bird guy making millions off of a cheap and boring game, but still on the same scale, never the less.

Maybe if they get enough ad revenue from YouTube, they'll invest that money back into YouTube for better support through the platform.

I dislike him being he's boring, unfunny, and overall not that entertaining. Even his crossovers with other TGWTG people were bad.

Also, if I may ask one question, did he get the Wii U for his fans or for making more money? Because right now, the impression I'm getting here is the latter.

Oh I see now, he's complaining about some broken copyright software that Youtube is using. Funny how he gets flagged but the many other videos don't.

He got the U FROM the fan, and yes, it was to make more money. That's the only thing he cares about

Okay this is seriously bothering me, everyone keeps saying this but from what I know the only place that actually allows this is a site in Japan that is the equivalent of YouTube. As far as I've heard from the LPers in America/Canada they haven't actually followed through with that yet, so where is this coming from?

Here's a better question: why is he flagged when there are so many other videos with similar content? Case in point: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Mario+Kart+8+review

EDIT: It doesn't say it has gone live but it is over a year old any as stated before, other channels (such as Game Explain and Strictly Nintendo) don't seem to be having a problem with Nintendo.

Then I'm still right in knowing that it hasn't gone live yet, Game Explain and Strictly Nintendo seem to have the workarounds down pretty good, as there voice commentary seems to be louder than the actually background music to stay away from getting flagged, striked or just told not to monetize. Also, you can't say just cause in there are ads that it is being monetized for those groups, I have a monetized YouTube account but I have a variety of Nintendo (and Capcom) videos that don't allow monetization but still have ads on it, but unlike Joe I don't really complain about it loudly and instead I just try to work around it...but once again it gets annoying. So no until proven otherwise this policy is not in place.
