Topic: Quality or quantity?

Simply put, do you look forward to quality or quantity in Virtual Console releases?

Me, I prefer quantity. (More specifically, I would like at least 2 Virtual Console releases per week.) I am not so desperate for quality, because, not only will Nintendo eventually have to release the "quality" titles (if only after running out of the other options), but also because Nintendo's recognition of the acclaim of these titles (as in Super Mario RPG or The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask) makes their release more likely. Besides, what marks a "quality" title? I would enjoy discovering a new series due to this week's Virtual Console release!

Actually, I like Bowser AND hairy bellies!

i'm not absolutely desperate for anything at the moment, but I do prefer quality over quantity. my money trees have been rather unproductive lately, so it's not like I have the extra dough lying around to purchase a VC game and hope I don't hate it. of course, my label of 'quality' translates directly into 'games from my retro collection that I loved playing the heck out of', so ymmv re: whether or not you'd agree with what I'd call a 'quality' game.

Quantity. Because as you said quality games will be forced to be released at some point. And besides which, Nintendo won't not release a title available to them just because its a very bad game - if that were true, a number of very bad games already on the VC would not have been released.

If someone had gone for quality then we might only get one VC game in a month but it would be a good one yet all those average games that do have a few fans wouldn't get released.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

There's already quantity, but half of it isn't up to quality. I don't agree with just releasing 'whatever' every week, that's how the VC got full of crud. I'll take 1 good game a month over a random filler every week. But that's me, my backlog is huge so I'm kinda grateful of the break.

So whats the difference between one good game every four weeks but its the only game in those four weeks to one game every week but only one week in every four has a good game? Back when these one game weeks started, we complained that there wasn't enough variety - that if you didn't like the genre the game of the week was then you were screwed that week. If there was only one good game a month then if you didn't like the genre then you would be screwed that month. I think people would be more willing to download an average game of a genre they do like than a good game of a genre they don't like.

I'll take quality, there is already plenty of variety on VC as it is, they don't have experation dates on them, just because they wheren't added that week doesn't mean they can't be downloaded and played.

I buy mostly arcade titles, so I do like a steady stream, but since there's already so many titles I can afford a drought. Given the ongoing support of VCA by Namco and the remaining 2009 line-up that doesn't seem to a be a problem though!

The difference is you won't have the three crud ones. But really I don't care, I've never complained I love the service and don't like all the negative **** you see on Nintendo Life, aimed at Nintendo. Spoilt brats if you ask me.

I am yet to download all the games on VC that I want, so more new ones will just mean a larger queue. And I doubt those who campaign for MK & SSB every week have downloading everything either. I don't get it, if you want a game THAT much, go buy the old console and stop biting the hand that feeds.

Having to buy the console and game that you want to play just defeats the purpose of the Virtual Console. If doing so was that convenient and easy then there would be no complaints at all.

Quantity. I want every game on there. Every and all. Just keep 'em coming. I think that Nintendo should definitely open up for unrated VC releases (and perhaps WiiWare later on). As far as I can see, the rating process is the biggest obstacle stopping VC games from being released. It's just too costly. With that obstacle gone, releasing games on VC would be much less on a gamble for the publishers.

I've decided to ruthlessly lock the excessive number of threads devoted to moaning about the VC so this looks like a forum more about discussing the VC and less about endlessly complaining about it!

I don't think Nintendo can legally put a game onto the VC if it hasn't been rated first.

I want the quality games that I consider quality, which might differ from person to person. For instance, I really enjoy Pro Wrestling, but I know there are a lot of people who don't. I also really enjoy Super Mario Kart, but I am not worried about Nintendo releasing all of their games. Since Super Mario Kart is out in Japan, it will come to the US eventually, and since Super Smash Bros is out in Japan and Europe, it will also come to the US sometime. Patience is a virtue...

Quantity - quality is subjective to personal opinion. e.g. I think Super Mario RPG is seriously overrated but many consider it a 'quality' title.

First you get the sugar, then you get the power, then you get the women.

Quality. There are 200-odd games on VC right now and only about 10-15 i would consider purchasing. Why would anyone want to pay for piles of crap?

There are over 300 Virtual Console games right now (unless you're in Australia) and there are a whole lot more games worth buying than 10 - 15. So if ten to fifteen games out of 300 is your idea of quality over quanity then I'm sticking with quanity thank you very much.

I live in Australia.
And that is in my opinion. Many people disagree, but I tend to find a lot of old games simply old (like Super Metroid and Link to the Past). However, that being said, Paper Mario 64 and EarthBound are pure awesome.

Quantity for me, mostly because some of the old school games I want I know aren't AAA games, but they still have a place in my heart. Like Beavis and Butthead, or Sonic Spinball.
