"Donkey Kong Country proves that players will put up with mediocre gameplay as long as the art is good." - Miyamoto
Miyamoto clears things up.
Miyamoto:
The first point that I want to make is that I actually worked very closely with Rare on the original Donkey Kong Country. And apparently recently some rumor got out that I didn't really like that game? I just want to clarify that that's not the case, because I was very involved in that. And even emailing almost daily with Tim Stamper right up until the end.
And with this game too, I'll be involved on a check/confirmation level, looking over the game and checking the content. So it'll probably be a similar role to what I played in the development of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.
In terms of things that I really wanted to see them focus on, particularly was the idea that in the original Donkey Kong Country the rendering and the effects that they used were very different from what you'd see in a Mario game. It had a very distinct feel. I thought it was important for them to keep that in mind. And also the fun of seeing the motion of that Donkey Kong hand slap is something that you don't get in other games as well.
Is it some way to trick and download this games? i have only the first one.
I remember when other VC games were removed you could access them by the Nintendo Channel and download them but they quit this games too in the info channel.
I am afraid not. The only way you can download a game that has been removed from the Wiishop is if you bought it before they pulled it. If you didn't buy it before hand sadly you are out of luck.
I'm sure by now Ebay has a couple SD cards with that game on it, try looking there.
That's not how it works...
Exactly. If it was that simple you would have people selling SD cards with VC and Wiiware games all the time. The purchases are tied to the console so even if I did buy one I still couldn't play DKC cause I never bought DKC on my Wii.

@Bass_XO: That's cool that you enjoy Donkey Kong Country. A lot of people do and more power to them. Miyamoto seems to agree with me on how mediocre Donkey Kong Country really is, “Donkey Kong Country proves that players will put up with mediocre gameplay as long as the art is good.”
I fail to see what's so mediocre about it.

And I fail to see what is above average about it, pre rendered graphics aside which I am not a fan of the plastic look anyway. DKC had recycled boss battles, throwing Donkey Kong in pits in hopes to find a secret, generic level design, camera was zoomed in to much, and similar boring swimming levels at every world. Beat it once and once is enough.
The next 2 are an improvement over the original though.
To blessed to be stressed.

Imo the DKC series has great gameplay complimented by not only some of the best controls but also by a challenging but extremely fair level design.
Not to mention the soundtrack in all three of these games (worth alone the VC price).
And well, the prerendered graphics were outstanding, innovative, and hitech at the time. Just like early 3D (Starfox, Doom), it was an accomplishment. Kinda bad-aged maybe, but totally underestimated seemingly by younger generations.
I know in 1994 there weren't any games graphically more impressive than DKC.
And Miyamoto always trashed the DKC series because his Yoshi's Island didn't do nearly as well at the time.
People, could we please finally stop bringing in Miyamoto every time we're talking about DKC? He does like the DKC trilogy and he was even involved in the development of the first game. This whole "Miyamoto dislikes DKC"-thing is bogus. http://hg101.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=games&action=d...

Retro games, Modern games, all AWESOME!!!
The Donkey Kong Country game series could make good use of save states like 3DS virtual console games.
Yeah I know
Why would you need save states to beat DKC? They're not that hard..
its not a matter of it being hard but you know you have to beat more levels in the next map to even get to the candy kong save point now yes the levels are short especially by today standards but to enjoy the sweet time mastering one level then saving the next one for another day

This is more of an opinion debate but the level design, in every way, blows Mario and Sonic sky high out of the water. The level's enemy placement and variety is nuts with an over abundance of geniusly placed secrets to find. That boasts exploration. The later levels are even better proof of this, not to mention the cart stages.
Recycled bosses? How many times have you defeated Bowser, Ganon, and Ridley? Once a year minimum? Exactly.
Country's water levels were top notch. And if I remember right, not every world had them. The ones that did, only had one to speak of. Not a very good complaint, but even so, they play and are laid out better than Mario's and Sonic's.
Zoomed in camera? I say the same thing about Sonic, except Country's camera is fine. You're not supposed to speedrun the levels, rather gain footing and progress with caution.
I find that you're nitpicking a great game. Everything the trilogy does, is of better quality than its competition in the genre. The score is also one thing you can't help but to appreciate.

Thank goodness for CactusJackson & SKTTR's intelligent support for an incredible Snes series that was getting wrongfully criticized here! I was about to come in here with a giant Bomb and blow this Kremling hangout up! But Cactus said exactly what needed to be said. Not that it really matters though, because it seems that most on this forum have no respect for DKC to begin with.
I have a question... I have purchased these titles but this past summer I had to send my Wii in for repair, I haven't redownloaded them yet but I do know I can redownload my purchased titles. Yes, I know I could check this but am not going to be able to for a few days so if someone knows this offhand, are they still availabe to be redownloaded if already pruchased, or are they removed completely?
Feel free to add me on the Nintendo Network: ShadJV

You answered your own question. lol
But yes, as long as you bought the games before the official pull, you can re-download them.
